      What is referred to as "white bread" in the US, the rest of the world calls "sweet bread". There's mainly two kinds of bread on the shelves at the US grocery, "white" (sweet), and whole wheat. There is no true white bread unless you make it yourself. Even the artesian white breads are just sweet bread again, except in a circle. The whole thing is fricking bazaar.

        I can promise you other countries do in fact use ingredients like yeast and starch in their bread but legally do not have to list all of that shit. You can find identical brand products in Europe with less ingredients listed, and it's obviously not because they for some reason decided to change their recipes abroad, it's because there is different laws. You idiots always act like this isn't the case when shit is blatant as hell.

        It's pretty normal for bread to have a bit of sugar added to it as food for the yeast either during a preferment or when the dough is initially mixed. Adding oil to bread is also pretty normal at least for enriched doughs that you want a fair bit more tender. A pretty good example of this would be Challah, although that's also something that you probably shouldn't be eating on a daily basis.

    No one “needs” to do keto to lose weight. A low carb diet can work just as well as keto, and it’s much easier to accomplish that.

    The idea that you can’t eat any carbs for a successful diet is a meme, and it often backfires once people go back to their high carb habits.

      The issue here is what lever should be pulled to adjust body fat. Calories, or carbs?

      When people figure out that calories are irrelevant and it is all about carbs they inevitably start trying extreme approaches like keto or zero carb which work great. More moderate carb restriction works too but I don't see any reason to not just rush to the finish line with keto and then experiment with low-carb for long term maintenance.

    like 500ml of cream for a regular pasta dish.
    aint using flour or other stuff to thicken sauces. I use butter for it.
    every meal is full of animal fat.

    I am 181cm and weigh 93kg. ~15-20% bf. very muscular.

    we also eat lots of carbs daily so carbs aint it either.
    I wondered about this for a very long time. my sister studied abroad in the US and came back a whale. she was very slim here. 1 fricking year in the US made her a whale and she never recovered.

      Amerifit here, I am convinced they are dumping poison in the food. And I don’t mean pesticides and herbicides while plants are growing (they do that too), I mean straight up dumping black bags marked “XX poison” into the food before marketing it.
      I prepare all of my meals from scratch and use USDA organic ingredients so it doesn’t affect me. They also poison the water so I distill my water religiously and bring it with me everywhere

      Walking is the biggest thing, in my opinion. You get a lot more leeway with your diet if you're walking a lot.
      Sitting all day is the worst.

      It's really more that americans eat absolutely gigantic portions of food at a time without ever thinking that they should reduce the amount to at least two thirds or a half. Their food also contains huge amounts of fat and sugar, anybody who came from elsewhere can taste just how loaded american food is with those two things because it's so overwhelming if you are not used to it.

      I've been cutting weight for about a year now, and I nearly threw up when I tried some cake from a grocery store a couple months back. I guess you just get used to the sugar, but when you cut it out for a while, it's a real shock.

      Europe has walkable cities and towns. People walk everywhere. In america they have drive through coffee shops.

      Damn near everything is drive through or curbside pickup now. You don't even have to walk for grocery shopping anymore.
      I once met a guy from rural NY who said his town had a drive through liquor store attached to a strip club. Sadly, the strip club was not also drive through.
      It's kind of cool, but also very bad for us.

      I'd be surprised if the average europoor citydweller walks 5km a day, yet alone 10. If you need to get somewhere, you walk to a tram or metro station instead of to your car. You don't automatically move that much in le walkable city unless you make an effort to do so. We're just less gluttonous, that's it. And let's not forget that euros are fat as frick anyway. Only by mutt standards can you call people here even remotely slim. You need to aim higher than slightly less obese. Have some self-respect.

      Genuine question, why do you guys act like Americans are even the fattest? Many Latin American countries like Mexico and Middle Eastern countries like Saudi Arabia are actually fatter. Most Western Europe countries are at most 10 years behind the US, countries like the UK might actually pass the US soon. Even China, though they hide their stats, occasionally slips and reveals they have higher diabetes rates than the US meaning even East Asian countries are climbing up there too.

    The utility of carbs as major part of diet is proportionate to activity. Less activity less carbs and less calories in general are required.
