        I've honestly been thinking of swallowing the keto or low-carb bullet because they seem to be the only ones who appreciate tasty meals and because the people promoting it just look like healthy people.
        Some questions:
        - do you still aim for the standard 0.5-1kg weight loss per week, or do you aim for more rapid weight loss?
        - when you say "unlimited calories," does that mean that you're actually exceeding TDEE by a fair amount, or is it more of a way of saying that you're in an energy deficit but FEEL like you're eating as much as you like (owing to the satiety of the meals)?

          If you're eating unlimited calories there's no weight loss goal. You just let your body regulate itself. On keto you will probably gain muscle while losing fat so weight isn't necessarily representative of body composition changes. You also lose water weight at the start.

          Track body composition by measuring waist size if that interests you.

          Unlimited calories could result in increased consumption measured by calories but the metabolic boost from keto plus energy being discarded (you breathe and urinate out ketones) means you will lose body fat. There's also a limit on how much fat your gut absorbs because you can only produce a limited amount of bile. The increased satiety may also result in a decrease in consumption measured with calories. It depends on your personal hormonal situation.

          The great thing about keto is you don't have to worry about any of this. Your body just takes care of itself when you feed it unlimited dietary fat and unlimited protein while avoiding carbs.

          If an anorexic person starts keto they will gain muscle, body fat, bone density, and weight. It's just a healing diet which restores you to where you naturally should be.

          The same rules apply as normal but you can get away with faster weight loss with less discomfort

          I think most ketoschizos actually think it's the former, since they do it without counting calories, but it is obviously the latter. Also, for some reason they will usually refuse to understand this question and won't give you a straight answer at all. I think most of them don't even understand what calories are. The main reason keto works is that you don't eat very much because you're gonna get really fricking tired of meat and fat. At a certain point you'll look at bacon and just feel sick. Anything else is marginal at best. Studies that study this don't find much of a difference in weight loss between keto and balanced diets of the same amount of calories. Also, I've done it myself and tracked all my food meticulously on the Lose It app, and my weight loss was exactly as predicted by the app, based on calories entered and calories burned (via Garmin data).

          By the way, it's not as fun as you are imagining. You are going to feel hungry constantly but not for anything you are allowed to eat. You're going to have dreams about donuts, bread, and spaghetti.

    Restricting calories usually results in low protein intake. Most people that do keto don't do actual keto, they do a much higher protein routine than regular keto calls for, which is obviously for the better.

    I lost 50 pounds using CICO and my dads lose 20 pounds using CICO, and we’ve kept the weight off

    My dads done keto 3 or 4 times but always gains back the weight within a few months, it’s an extremely unsustainable way of living
