same reason as when you don't want to eat a meal with the group because you don't like the food

This honestly. Even if your deadset on not drinking you still order a water or soda or something

It holds up a critical reflection to how they live their lives, and the behavior they conduct in, which is almost entirely to fit In with the crowd instead of something they enjoy. They are weak so thus they envy your strength

Why do NPCs seethe so much when you don't want to drink?

Any action that requires questioning one's own behavior is contrarian to the NPC mindset, as NPC's aren't self-aware, and exercises which requirr self-awareness then create discomfort for NPCs, much as the fictional replicants being questioned about falsified autobiographical details they have only sketchy details respond violently: attacking the person promoting critical thinking is seen as the easiest way of silencing a threat to the existence of an internally coherent self.

Drinking is bond-forming socialization because you can only be drunk around people you trust will not hurt you when you lose control. homosexuals who don't want to drink signal that they don't trust the group and therefore become untrustworthy themselves.

Exactly this. Lowering your inhibitions is a display of vulnerability, so it only works when everyone is participating.

These. I'd NEVER trust some snooty little homosexual that doesn't take estrogen (alcohol) with me. Taking estrogen (alcohol) with a group of guys shows that you're not one of those toxic masculinity guys.

Holy frick, youre such a homosexual that you cant even get a drink with the boys. Worst part is youre unfit, and guaranteed cant bench 2plate.

Or maybe i just don't feel like degenerating my brain cells and making an boring social situation into "fun" because of a mind altering substance.

Drinking is for homosexuals that are too scared of ego death

        >he thinks browsing IST and whatever else internet sites doesn't degrade his brain cells
        >he thinks looking at pictures of men on steroids all day doesn't ruin his mind
If you'd actually experienced ego death you'd realize that theres no harm in having some fun every once in a while and creating memories.

I spent 6 yrs working in hospitality in a restaurant populated by the biggest normies you can imagine and not a single one ever gave a frick if i didn't want to drink.

You are inventing emotions in other people's heads to make you feel like you're cool or special for not drinking.
If you dont wanna drink dont drink and just stfu about it and guaranteed nobody will care

Because it's more fun the drunker everyone is (to a degree) and because if someone's sober while the rest are drunk, moronic shit you do under thay state might go unnoticed.
It's not a big deal and no one should give a frick but people are insecure.

I've dealt with this within my own family they want to justify their vice and when you don't engage in their vice is makes them feel defensive.

Sinners hate being reminded of their own sin. It reminds them how far they’ve strayed from the Lord’s path. We need to love and help these people though, not hate them.

The sad truth is that many are uncomfortable being drunk around sober people. It doesn't feel as bad to make a fool of yourself when you're both drunk and laughing.

Because they suddenly think youre better than them by refusing to do an activity theyre engaging in. They make it seem like theyre the ones doing something wrong(not untrue) and youre the one trying to be above that.
Ive had the opposite experience where people were worried that I wouldnt drink with them. I sometimes just dont like the feeling of being absolutely thrashed then dealing with the hangover the next day or even just the feeling of being drunk if im not in the mood for it.

Cultural connotations. Makes you seem like you are religous or a recovering alcoholic. Most people who do it for health reasons just cut it down to a single drink for this reason

    Hmm
It really only happened to me during high school
Hanging out with deadbeats and to a lesser extent at work with young 18 year old fresh out of high
Other than that no one seem to care or even so much as ask me to drink.
The only people who encourage me to drink were people who made terrible life choices
Why in gods name would I listen to them
I don’t need to explain to them that
I under no circumstances wedding, birthday, new years, sad times, break up , death of love one ect
Will ever drink a drop of alcohol

I'm 25 and have been not drinking for little over a year now. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed more people not drinking especially younger people.
Also more non alcholic beverages being advertised.
It might just be what is being advertised to me now that I'm not drinking but I'm curious to see if more people are choosing this lifestyle.

Insecurity. When they see you not drinking, it suggests to them that they are doing something wrong and should reevaluate their choice. Rather than reevaluate their choice, they try to get you to conform and thus validate their poor decision.

Honestly, I think it's as simple as them wanting to share the fun and experience they are having. Also, some people are just boring c**ts when they don't drink and no one wants to hang out with a low energy guy killing the mood. If you generally are fun to be around no one cares if you don't drink.

For me, they seethe when I don't want the shitty, sheet cake at meetings
    It's probably the same reason.
    >He thinks he's too good to eat this cake. Who does he think he is thinking he is better than us?
They are judgemental frickers and they assume that I am one too when I really just don't want to eat cake

Makes them feel bad about it. Same as eating healthy. But actually it is kind of weird to be drinking with everyone and having fun and then having someone be stone cold sober. Drinking is kind of letting your guard down and being vulnerable thus someone refusing to partake kills that vibe and inherently seems a bit suspicious

I am a functional alcoholic and I don't give a frick if my friends don't want to drink with me as long as they still want to hang out with me.

As to your question I think they want an excuse to drink and feel ashamed to do it alone in front of someone. They also may be an addict who cant accept their situation. I know i have a drinking problem but at least i dont make everyone elses problem.
