why do people look at me when I snatch at the gym?

Im only at around 180lbs/82kg when I snatch but I can never tell if I’m getting mired or if they think im a try hard

    If its a commercial gym people just aren't used to seeing Olympic lifts like that. So it's somewhat of a spectacle, even more so if it's a high weight. In powerlifting gyms or college/athlete gyms it's pretty common.

      Most people go to the gym in their 20s for a grand total of 3 months before they retire back to their lifestyle of couch and videogames.

      Guess what most of their workouts consist of.

    I think it scares people. A bad squat may kill you, a bad bench may also. A bad snatch is a runaway weight potentially at other gym goers.
    Also likely jealous that they can't do it. Folks shit their pants on a power clean at my gym.

    On a dedication/hardcore level of lifting you have

    Machines -> Calisthenics -> Bodybuilding with free weights -> Powerlifting with free weights -> Weightlifting

    It's unironically scary to many people, heavy weight flying over your head, the banging of the bars, the rapid movements, the sounds of your heels banging into the ground, people unironically thing the gym is some library to meditate in

        Almost all dyels at the gym are literally regarded, and they'll just walk onto the platform or stand right behind you, so if you fail behind, you'd end up hitting them.
