I like to drink before the gym because I do not want to go to jail for 360 roundhousing a Black person trying to rush to the db section when I was waiting for like 30 minutes.

Never really thought of it, but yeah the gym is way whiter before 9am than it is after 5pm. Wonder why

Why does alcohol give me a pump without even lifting?

True, alcohol makes your veins expand more, that is why people say it warms you up when you are cold - it allow more warm blood into your extremities, which creates the illusion of warmth. Your body purposely restrics blood flow to extremities when cold because it wishes to reserve the heat for your innards and brain. If you drink, it temporarily causes you to feel warmer, but more blood in your extremities (palms and face mainly) mean that the heat transfer happens quicker and you will freeze quicker. Thats why so many drunks freeze outside.

That is a stupid idea. It might vasodilate you, but it decreases cognitive functioning and dehydrates you, making you focus less and sapping your muscles of water. Also it makes the blood flow to your liver so you can metabollise the alcohol first since your body treats it as a priority in metabolism, halting any other compounds being metabolised, so you partially stop digestion of other nutrients. That being said, lifting is super fun when drunk, the anxiolytic effect makes you less fearful to go for the maxes and lifts you are afraid to do or to relax more in the gym.

Drunks passing out in the mounds of ice that get blown onto sidewalks was a common method of death in Anchorage. That and syphilis

This and it also kills protein muscle synthesis, which is what actually makes your muscles grow.
This is why I smoke before the gym. I may be a degenerate pothead but atleast my drug of choice isn't a literal gains goblin.

According to this site 37% but I'd have to find the study they were talking about. It seems to only come into effect if you consome alchohl within 3 hours of lifting which is what op and poster itt are talking about. Drinking moderately 3 hours after lifting wouldn't have that detrimental of an effect. According to this actual study

              Thanks.

From my alkie experience I always get actual fricking DOMS if I drink on the same day that I did some workout. It does't matter how much protein I overeat, I always get horrible DOMS the next day.

Pot obliterates your T and is as much of a gainz goblin long-term. Opiates too for that matter.

I guess everything does have its downsides but really it only temporarily decreases your test and it goes back to baseline after. Lifting increases test so perhaps that cancels it out or even goes beyond the amount that marijuana decreases your test. According to this link its associated with increased t, but those are danes so not sure if the study is applicable to people
