Why does Mark Rippetoe and Starting Strength try to teach the deadlift with the chicken neck like in this picture? You are supposed to deadlift with a neutral back AND a neutral neck. This was taught years ago by the great Elliot Hulse, and Jason Blaha. Why do so many people listen to Rippetoe's shit advice on how to deadlift. Just asking for a neck strain.
Translates better to olympic lifts would be my guess. That's the way I was taught.
It's wrong though.
Hmm, I wonder who I should listen to. Actual weightlifting coaches and athletes who've dedicated their lives to lifting objects, and have earned their credibility or a random dyel on an anonymous Kyrgyzstani moose-hunting forum. Tough choice.
russians are badass
You want to have your head even more back for the snatch or c&j, fully extended
Deadlift is a very different movement tho
It is impossible to look in that direction without a straight back/rotated hips. That neck position is still in the neutralrange, he could still bend his neck further back, which is all that matters.
Dude thats fricking chicken neck shit that is going to tear up your cervical spine putting your neck up like that. Here is a video doing it properly from Jason Blaha.
Jason Blaha teaches it the right way. He’s so strong and jacked, everyone should listen to the advice I give.
He does teach it the right way, he pulls over 500 lbs and guess what, no fricking injuries, you dumbass.
guy looks like dogshit
>The guy in sweatpants and a sweatshirt doesnt look like my favorite body builder!

Bitch, I've never trained DL in my life and I pull 10pl8s. Here's a picture of me.

It doesn't matter. Even if you're interested in Powerlifting, Starting Strength and the Texas Method is a shit program.
Are you supposed to exhale at the top of a deadlift?
doesn't matter
stop worrying about small details and just go lift
why does the neck position even matter
