I mix things up constantly. Fall in and out of love with a lift. Right now weighted dips are my thing.
I started doing them slightly leaning forward because I was told it hit pecs more and damn does it.
Before that it was incline bench and before that it was OHP. I still do them as accessories and will eventually switch back to one or the other as the main press.

It's a variation on the post I was replying to, in which the guy said he mogs everyone at 6'8, but I'm 7'1 I dont know why I bother with this Buddhist board, you guys are impossible to talk to because everything is taken the wrong way

It's easier on the elbows and the back, and I can feel it more. Gonna keep using dumbbells. Enjoy your herniated disc

Are you saying seated shoulder press or OHP puts pressure on your back?
          [...]
Wow you can compete against a woman. How manly of you.

I genuinely found it so much easier standing then seated
When I'm planted I planted my shovel feet very well, pay attention my hips all the way up
When I'm seated there's a ton of stress on my spine

On my last rep, I usually hold the bar as high as possible in the locked-out position for as long as possible. Are there any benefits to doing that>

It's good for shoulder and upper back stability. If you walk around it's called waiters walk. You can also do side bends (with the empty bar) to work the obliques for a great warmup or ender: https://youtu.be/kATJWiwsL7A?t=347

Bc you're a noob lifter, usually is the case
Ohp is so great because you're throwing weights overhead yippie
Eventually you stop caring so much about this when your physique changes
Don't get me wrong it's a fun lift but I'm just saying
No I won't post my nudes or whatever

These are actually no shit a better shoulder press

Not really just do pause reps. Not a lot of tension in the lockout position.

nah I'd try it but there's no way I'm walking into the gym and pumping that shit out in public. Wouldn't it be simpler to try a neutral grip db press? I dare not do stupid shit with my shoulders I've had impingement before

that's a decent lift, but I just press the barbell over my head using my telekinetic mind powers

The first time I tried this lift, I severely overestimated my strength. Try it first with just the empty barbell. It's also a fun move to mix up a boring routine with.

love ohp cause it feels like victory more than any other lift
you're raising your arms above your head in triumph, proudly defying gravity
squats and diddlies don't feel as good because you're just standing up and your body is supposed to do that, and benching is laying down, not very heroic

      I just started OHP too.
Unfortunately I have to do it seated because my basement ceiling is too low.
But I do love doing it. Feels good.

Pretty autistic take, but I get it.
To be honest I don't know why it's not competitive lift.

For me it’s the enjoyment of knowing I have such control over a weight I can pick it up and completely heave it over my body, I’d imagine I could probably OHP anyone that weighs 20-25lbs less than my 1rm
