honestly its a shit exercise
By far the worst part of my physique is my abs and I only saw progress once I started doing weighted GHD situps + hanging leg raises
If you have genetically shit abs like me (And Arnold tbf, severe lack of fascia bands) you have to hit them literally every session
its important to not just move up and down but to actually curve your spine so you can get a good contraction on your abs. I do still prefer doing weighted crunches on the pulldown machine though. You face outwards so you can brace your legs back against the pad, and it gets you a much better rom by letting you go from an extended stretched upper position to a fully crunched looking between your own legs compressed position. I can post a vid if people can't figure out what I'm talking about.
Just do leg raises and weighted decline situps, it's literally all you need. If you have the boomer ab crunch machine do that as well but you'd better add a lot of weight to it.
if anything I feel like it increases effectiveness cause you dont have to worry about swinging around like if your hanging from a pull up bar, you can totally focus on bringing your legs up to crunch your abs
what are the best ab exercises? i had really shit and weak abs so i've done planks and deadbugs daily and have gotten a lot stronger, so i think i'm ready for some big boy exercises now.
Was going to type this. People might feel their abs even if they just flex the hip but the abs are then mostly in a supporting role. You need to think about spinal movement actually while crushing the abs, tho abs get used to quickly to exercise in op. You can always do more reps and stuff but at some point it's not practical to add more weight, depending on your own weight of course.
Probably doing it wrong, it's very easy to recruit the wrong muscles and use your own body weight to move the cable. Make sure you squeeze the shit our of your abs like you're trying to curl into a ball and suck your own dick.
Being sore is a good thing you moron.
If they’re sore, that means you’re growing.
Yes, I know you can grow without being sore, but you can also get a completely shitty workout that doesn’t stimulate any growth at all without being sore, so it is nice to have the feedback
doing it wrong, probably, but we would need a video to be sure
this exercise made me see my abs for the first time, at 35

Dis homie doesnt have an abs machine at his gym, laff at him
people swear by this shit but I never got sore doing them either
tried doing them in literally every way possible and still nothing

>do meme exercise
>nothing happens
let me guess you think ab roller works also
You need to make sure you're not assisting the machine with your own weight, if that makes sense
Also make sure you're not pulling with your arms
It’s REALLY easy to use the wrong muscles on this. I’m guessing that’s what’s happening. Regardless it should be a very minor part of your ab routine

move back further
I hate this shit feels so goofy to do and hard to activate anything, I just do leg raises at the dip stand thing instead
If your back is against the pad at the back will this damped the effectiveness?

Leg raises
It should be noted that all about exercises are pretty moronic, even though I love them
Most people I see doing them absolutely butcher them, they don't curve their spine but instead use their hips

Reminds me of my good ol days as an altar boy

nice reading comprehension
Every time I attempt this my elbows hurt like hell. I tried multiple positions and it still hurts.
