The learning curve is really steep, you have guys like Kiril, Larry or Cyplenkov who had to dedicate years to arm wrestling just to learn the proper technique to even become competitive.
Also at the professional level the injury rates are high. Guys after a supermatch often end up with injured wrists, elbows, shoulders, ligaments, etc. if it's not a quick pin. Latest example would be Dadikyan.
