We'll see how gay it would be if a white belt grabbed you and snapped your arm.
Your girlfriend would surely be impressed

Cause I live in the boonies of the midwest. The closest thing we have to martial arts is getting blackout drunk and picking fights in back of the local strip club

are there a lot of jacked people in the MW

      im not from mw

I wouldn't say jacked. There are a decent amount of naturally big guys where I live, but I think a lot of that comes from the blue collar culture. Lots of manual labor, farming, etc.

I used to but honestly I feel like I have too many things to do. Rock climbing, lifting, games, books, career, girlfriend. No more space for hobbies honestly. Really just focusing on making money and securing wealth. I'm happy with what little I learned in the short time. Doesn't help that doing both rock climbing and bjj at the same time puts too much strain on the tendons.

I plan to start it for the first time this fall (using the summer to pick up extra OT). Going into it at 34 years old. Zoomers are gonna have to listen to my old joints cracking as we roll

I started at 35, and stopped at 39. You'll be fine. Just beware of spazzy white belts, they are most likely to injure you. Complete lack of control.

I went to a gym once and ended up spending a grand on a membership only to never return again.
I like lifting and exercising but fighting is a whole other can of worms where you get exhausted AND have some sweaty ass dude crushing your face

Full of pro police homosexuals. Absolutely useless in a real fight anyway cause I'd just use a weapon

Huge time investment, annoying minor injuries, constant skin shit
It is fun though, I got my purple and haven't been back since my second kid. Sort of miss it but I enjoy having more free time for other hobbies I neglected. BJJ basically takes all your free time if you have a job/kids.

Rolling around on the floor grunting and sweating doesn't seem that fun

With wrestling it seems like there's at least more dynamic movement to it with flipping around, takedowns, etc but it's honestly really difficult to find some kind of wrestling program for adults

Judo also seems pretty fun but BJJ is by far the most common (again probably because you can roll around on the floor most of the time)

    Couple reasons:
    - moved back to nyc and gym prices and convenience weren't ideal
    - grew my hair out and it was getting pulled very time I was on back
    - I lost commitment to it. It's not a sport you can do once a week and progress (probably like most sports)
