Because people are scared to do them because they think they will get hurt, but they just need to train to do it right
And people who did do them that hate them usually did them wrong, thus getting them hurt

Why would you train them then ? Seems like a waste of time and unnessecary risk

Name a single muscle they improve that you can see or have functional use for.

Hard mode: Name a single advantage of them to rdls.

homie have you ever, I don't know, picked up something heavy from the ground? Post yourself RDLing 200kgs if so.

              Spinal erectors.
They allow you to lift heavier weight than rdls.

              >but but but - bigger numbers.
              That's what I thought.

Suppose these magical muscles up your ass or wherever it is are bigger, so what? Who can see them? What possible functional purpose do they ever serve unless in a freakish scenario? It is neither beneficial nor healthier to have those muscles bigger, they are fine as they are.

Just admit it's for the numbers and you'll embarrass yourself less than all this cope.

Doctors literally prescribe deadlifts for office workers who have back problems. Especially dentists. But I assume you don't know that because you never worked as a professional before

Hamstrings. Literally anything done on the pommel horse. Hell, anything done on the floor. Deadlifts improve power significantly over any lift and is extremely beneficial to gymnasts along with literally any sport that requires movement of your own body such as rock climbing. Its hard to imagine in your head, you will have to literally feel it through practice to understand

picking up anything heavy off the ground. such as that cooler filled with food and drinks that would usually require 2 people to get onto that truck

Oh my bad, I didn't know you had to do the activity all day to be considered functional. In that case, working as a mover. Stronger people will last a lot longer throughout the week over the weaker dyel ones who do small number rdls

I mean going by that logic there is literally no need to workout in general. Just do cardio. Most if not all people could live a full life without ever having stepped in the gym.

Backlash to the people who were shilling them (flabby “powerlifter”s telling guys they need to deadlift and squat heavy when their goal is something like getting ottermode)
Deadlifts are alright, neither amazing and necessary nor awful and useless

Because conventional deadlifts don't meet my fitness goals. Haven't done them since the StrongLift days when I started lifting. I usually do back extensions or RDL instead.
