Why shouldn't I buy a bow and dry fire it with both arms for back day?

Why shouldn't I buy a bow and dry fire it with both arms for back day? Seems like it mogs rows and lat pulldown plus you can shoot arrows with it

because dry firing a bow is a good way to break it. why not shoot arrows at a target? at least that'd be fun.

yes it is, because the force of the string gets transferred to the arrow vs the force gets transferred to the bow. Dhooting an arrow feels smooth, shooting dry feels like holding a wobbly stick and hitting it on the floor. It certainly isn't good for a bow, this is why noone not dumb does it. t. bow enjoyer

This anon gets it. You can totally train your muscles with a bow, but you either fire an arrow, or slowly deload the bow when there is no arrow. Dry fire ruins the bow and only morons do it.

it's bad because... it just is!
shooting a 7 grain arrow vs nothing is completely different for the bow!

wow sounds like your b***h ass got completely debooooonked and archery knowledge mogged like the brainlet archerlet that you are
you probably couldn't draw a heavy compound bow string back anyway
also, if we were in the woods going mano y mano, I would shoot you through your little chicken neck
you probably wouldn't even see me before I turned you into a full time pin cushion
i'm talking about going full legolas on your ass
don't you ever come on this board trying to talk archery again

Pull ups, ever heard of those?

but you are pushing the bow away from you? Surely its not just a pull movement.

Its more akin to a lateral raise and a pull, full extension does not always = push.

    What are resistance bands

You can. But maybe you should do it with resistance bands instead.
Or get an exercise bow like pic related, those are a thing apparently.
Then also wear weight vests and train with clubbells and weighted shield for your medieval workout lol.

very nice that IST is getting into archery
there used to be a time when IST was obsessed with being patrician or aristocratic, and archery is very much a return to that as it is a very noble activity

    >dry firing
Use it to shoot small animals in the woods for extra protein

Where do you go to do some archery when in a city? I used to all the time in the backyard growing up but I’m picturing an archery club would be cringey and charges so much just to use their targets. Also I don’t want people watching when I’m out of practice. Is it as bad as I’m imagining?

homosexual OP doesn't respect the bow
I will cut his bow string with scissors, and then cut him in half with my katana

Why are the archers never jacked in games and it's always the turbo manlet with a giant warhammer that has the maxxed back?

Easier to build muscles when you're turbo manlet

Games treat archery like it's more of a dexterity based skill than a strength based one, which is true to the extent that aiming one requires some practice. It's typically playing into fantasy archetypes ie the lithe elven archer in contrast to the burly dwarf warrior. In reality you've got to have a little power to use a good sized bow

Bows in D&D require STR for more damage and dexterity for actually hitting since like 3e. Even in AD&D the best bows had a huge STR req to even use.

Make the bow. It will train your hands, forearms and back.
