Why Weight Lifting is a Waste of Time | Dr. John Jaquish | TEDxMayfieldHS

Dude says no one besides 1% of "genetic outliers" can achieve any results in fitness, backs it up with "research", pushes some "variable resistance" bullshit like powershitters do to fix this. Our verdict? You can skip first minutes when

Just more evidence that "science" is garbage lies and you should never listen to a word of it.

this, most of the time. talking with many university professors you'll find out there are many kind. some try to put out good work, while others try to put out as much as possible, and others are very biased.
some professors themselves told us some studies are valid and some are not. you need to be an expert in these studies to actually understand which are which. people out of academia have no chance to understand it. so they can't tell legit research from bogus.

from that, we get to this. your own personal experience is of much bigger value than all the research, when you need to make personal choices.
you'll find bigger truths by just keeping a diary and experimenting in your personal life. different exercises, volumes, diets, supplements... you need to experiment yourself.

          Anonymous

not quite, you can learn to read a study and verify if its even valid without understanding the topic itself, if you have any sort of critical thinking ability. that won't help all the time but you can pretty easily learn to prune the crappy(ie most) research from the good stuff, just by analyzing the methodology and statistical methods used.

        Anonymous

No, you're simply way too moronic to understand what these "studies" show and what you can learn from it.

ngl this all feels like a shitpost
obviously he doesn’t believe what he’s saying and that’s why he’s relying on studies, because nobody is going to actually publish a study saying exercise works. It’d be like doing a study on whether drinking water provides hydration and requiring lots of expensive testing to ‘prove it’

        Anonymous

        >It’d be like doing a study on whether drinking water provides hydration
There's actually homosexuals on YouTube arguing against drinking water to hydrate.

yes ive seen ~~*dr berg*~~ thumbnails claiming that
it’s all grifters. It’s not necessarily terrible because it opens up debate, but like with dr berg there are 100,000’s of people that listen to that snake. Some of his advice is good then others he’ll tell you shit like ashwaghanda is perfectly safe and great, and he just so happens to sell his own xd
Goes in on all of the potential benefits then doesn’t even MENTION the crippling anhedonia it’s notoriously infamous for producing

Sisyphus teaches the higher fidelity that negates the gods and raises rocks. He too concludes that all is well. This universe now without a master seems to him neither sterile nor fertile. Each atom of that stone, each mineral flake of this mountain full of night, alone forms a world. The struggle itself to the heights is enough to fill a man's heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy.

pretty much any man except anorectics, hardcore druggies and already muscular manual labourers can gain at least 15 pounds of muscle. 20lbs in first tear would be rather typical for consistent average lifter.

well stopping steroids, doing cardio and eating less fructose and fat (especially saturated) should help. might also be simply digestive problem bloating or underactive transversus abdominis. vacuum exercise helps to tighten gut.
