will this work to lose weight?

I walk 40 minutes a day on my daily commute. To and from university. I'm 5'11 and 87 kg(191 lbs).

My diet is as shit as can be. I only eat when I feel hungry, can be twice a day or once a day. I used to use a ride-app like uber instead of walking and ate fast food almost everyday before.

Will replacing uber with walking and eating no fast food help me lose weight or does the body not work like that?

The commute is only 2 km(1.24 miles) one way.

Walking will definitely help. Change your diet and after a month try fasting.

fasting sounds good, it wont be that difficult since im used to ramadan in summers anyway

Yeah it will Muslims don’t have a clue about real fasting. Ramadan “fasting” is such a fraud considering you’re allowed to stuff your face with food as soon as the sun goes down

figured that'd be the case, what can i do better except that thats obvious like gym and cooking for myself. gyms are too far and rn too expensive. cooking could be a good option once i get the equipment for it. but anything else?

Push ups, pull ups, body weight squats (or wear a heavy backpack), calf raises. Allah forbid you buy a couple 10-20 pound barbells and curl them

I had a health scare (pre diabetes in my blood work) and cold turkey, immediately stopped eating fast food and drinking soda, I was a soda guzzler 5-6 cans a day and still cant believe I was able to stop cold turkey, have not had fast food or soda in months, blood work is excellent and I lost 19 pounds not even exercising.

But I've started walking 2 miles twice a week and trying to work up, I'm proud of you OP for even wanting to improve yourself, thats a big step brother.

40 minutes for 2km? My commute is 5 and I do it in 47 minutes, get those numbers up.
But yes, dipshit, literally eating less and moving more will lose weight

20 minutes for 2km* I meant I walk 40 minutes the whole day. Since I go back and forth between uni and my apartment.

    Walking will help a lot.
If you can you can try running in addition or cycling.

Make sure that your diet overall is balanced, have fruits minerals and very important enough iodine(iodized salt ensures that you get enough iodine, other things are cranberries fish, marine food and stuff like this).
