Some bodybuilder told me to not take vitamin C or eat anything with vitamin C in it because its an anti-inflammatory and if you take anti-inflammatory it will kill the muscle building process.

starting strength
you don't understand anything written in the SS book.
Anti-inflammatories do slow healing and recovery. You think inflammation has no purpose? There's a reason ibuprofen should be minimized when trying to heal up.
the form explanations are good but the program has too much lower body focus
So are you telling me if I goto the gym and Squat 100kg for 10 reps, and then go back home, pop a vitamin C tablet, that my entire body's response to that Squat will be completely deleted by the 500MG of vitamin C?
No idk shit about vit C but big doubt. But the premise that inflammation reduction interferes with recover is true.
deadlifts are a great exercise
They are. Nothing builds a strong back like well done deadlifts. They are among the most complete lifts there are.
>dont do a brosplit man, those for low IQ gymbros who dont know how to train! you should train like the nerds on the internet say, full body only bro! you see... frequency is all that matters, those bros dont know how to train!
Isn't it interesting how people online say this, but then in real life, the people on full body look DYEL, and the "dumb bros" at the gym doing a brosplit are jacked. Funny that.
>not take vitamin C or eat anything with vitamin C in it because its an anti-inflammatory and if you take anti-inflammatory it will kill the muscle building process
technically correct but he's still moronic. Vitamin C is an antioxidant. Plenty of foods have chemicals which act as antioxidants. However, your liver will metabolize 80%+ of that vitamin C into a form of energy before it ever has the ability to exert its effects as an antioxidant. The Vit C that gets through your liver, your body uses as vitamin C and not as an antioxidant.
>bulk then cut
I am 50/50 on this.
I know people who are muscular and shredded who tell me they have never done a bulk/cut in their life, they just lifted weights and ended up looking the way they do after a few years.
But on the other hand I know people who tell me they never made any progress until they bulked hard and then followed the hard bulk up with a hard cut, and thats how they achieved their body.
But I know people whose experience goes against both of the above, in that they bulked but only got fat, then they cut down and were skinny again, and the people who didn't bulk/cut but just never made progress whatsoever and just stayed looking the same...
Really makes me wonder what the hell actually works. Seems like everything works, but everything also doesn't work, it really depends on person to person, there is no right or wrong way.
>what is genetics
some people will gain mostly fat and others lean tissue. It depends on how hard they bulk and their genetics. Just try it
"Muh Genetics"
>genetics determines everything about your physical body but not my mussels bro that’s just my pure hard work and dieting only bro
Hormones, genetics, age they started training. Not everyone is dealt the cards and have to use differing strategies to overcome it. The worst thing you can do is be in denial of it and try to force an outcome with a strategy that you're ill-equipped for.
The people who “just look like that” slowly gained weight and lost fat over time, instead of doing one of those things at a time quickly.
I will say that, although bulking and cutting is faster, half the people who do it frick up bulking so badly that they would be better off maingaining.
>"you don't really need accessories anon, just the compounds give you all the development you need"
>get to 1/1.5/2.5/3 for reps
>can't finish a set of curls of 5s on an ez bar
I know it's my fault for being moronic, but still.
"just shave it bro"
>you need a """strength base""" before training for hypertrophy
>if you want to get big you need to do barbell compounds (squat/DL/bench)
>you need supplements (protein powder, creatine, etc.) if you want to get big
>cardio is a meme and kills gains
>it's perfectly fine to go over 15% bodyfat
>it's totally fine doing a roider brosplit made for roiders with a 500% increased recovery time as a natty
Probably the biggest and most popular noob mistakes on IST.
All agree. Not sure about body fat though, since some guys hit the lotto with fat distribution genetics and other guys aren’t so lucky.
90% of males in first world countries are over 15% body fat. 20% body fat is just a flat stomach.
Good mornings.

And what is the lesson to draw from that?
