>2 free eggs every day
Bulk eggs cost 10-25 cents a piece you are going to spend considerably more than that keeping two chickens not to mention even the best layers don't actually produce an egg every single day all year long.
Geese lay on average 30 eggs PER YEAR and they do it clutches of a dozen or so in the spring so you'd be without eggs most of the year.
I'm well aware and have had flocks of geese, ducks, peafowl, and chickens. The only one I don't care for particularly is ducks. But peafowl and geese are definitely my favorite to have around and maybe a few emus.
Depending on breed you'd realistically need 8-10 for a guaranteed 6 eggs every day, but you can keep chickens for pretty cheap. Any food scraps can be fed to them and traded back as free protein, and a generally cheap farm supply store feed bag is plenty for the bulk of their diet.

would you have 2 chickens in your kitchen if it meant 2 free eggs every day?
Chickens are disgusting creatures, keeping them in your kitchen would kill you (and terrorize your nostrils and lungs). Keep them in the back yard, build a cheap chicken tractor (look it up) and you're set
Also eggs dont need to go in the fridge if you dont wash them, they come out with a protective enzyme layer, but if you wash them (usually have some shit on them) then they need to go in the fridge immediately after
i live in a commie block, i will just buy 2 dwarf chickens instead of a dog or a cat and have some food from it. im also planning on having blapitca dubia as a feed, which worked perfectly when i had tarantulas
Oh they LOVE that. Crickets and mealworms too. Chickens are basically feathered reptiles lol
But just make sure you're keeping them somewhere separate from the air you breathe. Chickens are covered in bacteria, and their poop breeds a lot of parasites. If you have a balcony you could definitely (although probably illegally) raise them there.
Also make sure they have a perch that's above the ground or they'll get a lot of foot issues and will be much dirtier in general
crickets are loud and smell like piss
i like a lot the idea of chickens in the house for their 1st 6 months and when they start laying eggs putting them on balcony from spring to autumn to collect egs and making a chicken soup 9 months later before winter
i love this idea, sersiously eureka moment
Please dont keep them indoors. You /will/ get sick. Chickens are okay outside in the winter, I live in Canada and ours live in a large coop outside. You will need to build them a small coop (doghouse size, they dont need huge space) for winter nights or on days where it's starting to get very cold (like -25 C or less). You can build a coop out of almost anything, even recycled pallet wood is fine. Stick a lightbulb in there to generate a bit of heat
If you kept tarantulas, the heat lamp from that is fine (even better if it's ceramic bulb)
Again, do NOT keep chickens inside your house. Even if you had a big basement and could seal a room and have outdoor ventilation, it is still a horrible idea. Your kitchen is the worst place in your entire house.
It is very hard to save money producing your own food actually, the argument can be made that chickens can eat your compost but I personally don’t produce enough compost for a single chicken. Industrialized food production is definitely not scamming us.
I got shit to do, I don't want to have to take care of two birds in my house just so it can lay 2 eggs for me. Sorry, I'm not running a farm.
And take this into consideration, which is more expensive? Buying a dozen eggs for $4 a week? Or buying organic bird feed and maintaining a chicken coup?
the quality of eggs would be better than from the store, because you know what they eat, (in factory they eat their own shit endless amount of times)
not in your fricking kitchen though hahahahahahaha. also anyone who says chickens don't smell so bad has never been around them. their shit smells way worse than any other animal's shit
Respectfully disagree, BUT, there is absolutely zero difference between white, brown, and "free range" (uncontrollable topkek) eggs. Just like home raised eggs have no nutritional difference between olive green, blue-gray, white, beige, or brown eggs.

I have 9 chickens and average over half a dozen eggs a day. What's great about chickens is they'll eat anything. I literally fed them nothing but dog shit for like a week and they were fine
No I'd have them in my yard and they'd be geese because goose eggs are better and geese terrify pussies and are loyal.

>geese
Imagine the shits and noise they'd make.
I eat 6 eggs a day so I'd need 6 chickens. but those 6 eggs cost me only a $1 or so, I'd imagine chickens are pricier than that to keep

why do you eat 6 egg everyday?

depends on what you feed them

An egg is an egg, anon.

rabbits are more popular, but i dont want to kill rabbits for meat
>chickens in your kitchen
city slicker moron has no fricking clue what that would smell like kek
i was born in a village and we had 200 chickens, it didnt smell that bad, but was overcrowded tbh
not in your fricking kitchen though hahahahahahaha. also anyone who says chickens don't smell so bad has never been around them. their shit smells way worse than any other animal's shit
he'd get chicken manure all over his Gucci loafers
what about rabbits for meat?
I'd love to own a big house with a chicken coup but I'm such a pussy idk if I could even kill a chicken when the time comes.

Chickens lay eggs every other day on average.
My friend has chooks, so I just get eggs from him. I just buy him a 20kg bag of feed once a year
