I have the weakest wrists there are. They crack forever. I can't do palm pushups. Meanwhile I never bench with wrist wraps, don't need them for squat. I don't see the utility.
cont. it's same as dyels who squat with bars without center knurling you don't notice the difference because you're below 3plates and the weight doesn't create enough pressure to break friction
no one that squats 450 doesn't use a bar with a knurling, like you're just larping for the sake of it. If you even try to unrack it the difference is night and day
Not who you were replying to, but lol, if you think "nobody" squats 450 with a bar with no knurling, you haven't been to most gyms in the USA lately.
FFS, half the gyms I've been to in my chain have NO bars with center knurling at all, literally, the entire 50% of the center of the bar has nothing but slip slidey bullshit.
Needless to say, I've squatted 500 with these shit bars, but yes, they suck ass for doing any rep work because that bar moves all over your fricking back like crazy.
When you realize that there were guys squatting 700+ on bars with zero knurling decades ago, you come to terms with the fact you have no excuse not to still lift heavy even when the equipment sucks balls.

Depth police has been called, nobody loads up 3pl8 on their first day regardless of if they could do it or not, the movement pattern is too new. 100% that you have kept frauding depth, a fat moronic boomer doing 1/8th squats with 200% of his actual max isn't a rare sight at all

I squat 465 and just switched to a gym without center knurling. I prefer the center knurling and it definitely feels different. But I've adjusted and gotten back to 465 with no real transition period worth mentioning.

How do you get a back this vertical during squat? I always feel like it's gonna slide right off or that I'm sending my wrists/elbows to snap city trying to bear the weight on em.

ankle dorsiflexion + weightlifting shoes + good flexibilty.
keep in mind that the guy in the pic is a world class weightlifter and has perfect limb ratios for squatting. (short femurs) generally most of your squats wont look nearly as vertical as his.

Protip for anyone trying to squat using these dumb ass barbells without center knurling. Get some grip/thumb tape and make your own center knurling. It helps a lot.

yeah we all know what cheating putting on crap to increase your leverage is, some people just do it to a greater degree than others.(the moronic suits).
if deadlift isnt a grip exercise then why do you need straps? if squat doesnt require core strength, why use a belt? it does require those things lmfao
Weight genuinely feels lighter in your hand. You don't need to work to keep the bar in the correct position because the wrist wraps will keep your wrist from falling back. I can bench the same amount with or without wrist wraps, but with wraps it's one less thing to think about

Interesting... There's 4 bars at my commercial gym and I've specially marked the one I like the most with chalk to use for myself because the others kinda rotate in your hand.
One time I used another bar when benching and it kind of just rolled forward almost dropped it on me. Wonder if wrist wraps would fix that with any bar or the bars are just shit?
I always assumed wrist wraps were for people who had wrist pain and I never had any so I just never bought any.

Nta but you’re probably using oly bars, they rotate freely. I workout at a CrossFit gym at work and I can’t bench over 100kg there due to how much the bars spin the weights. Wraps won’t help you here.

>I like the most with chalk to use for myself because the others kinda rotate in your hand
I've had this issue with cheap thin bars. In a hotel I was benching and the bar just kind rolled forward and almost out of my hand. Since wrist wraps really tighten your hand position (if they're tight enough it's hard to even open your hand) that would probably help, but you should be able to maintain your hand position without them. >I always assumed wrist wraps were for people who had wrist pain and I never had any so I just never bought any.
They're really not a necessity, but my thought is I'm training bench, not my wrists, so I use wraps.

Yeah on olympic bars since the collars spin so freely I feel like I need to choke the shit out of the bar instead of letting it sit in my hand.
Only non-lifters will tell you this, zero percent of people with a decent deadlift grip double overhand. It's either mixed or hook grip with chalk or straps. Keep in mind nobody on fit actually lifts the next time you take advice, unironically go to reddit in stead this is a /LULZ/ board for angry browncels now
Best quote I’ve heard regarding them: >if you don’t need wrist straps then I don’t know what to tell you, you have an extremely weak back, and don’t move around any serious weight”
I can lift the same weight with or without wraps but over time my wrists start hurting if I don't use wraps regularly with 225+. How can I avoid the pain without wraps? It doesn't really seem worth ditching them to me
If you use the southic lowering brand of wrist wraps they fight against your lifting movements and make the exercise more difficult, everybody knows this lurk moar op.
>you didn’t actually lift the weight
false, the weight was lifted but u're an imbecile if u need them - u don't have fragile wrists, u're just dumb, u're fricking urself up and u have no clue how nor when xD most probably in moronic in its own right benchpress
i use them because of my tendonitis

i squat 450 on a bar tht has no center knurling, its just smooth for the 16 inches or wh atever in the middle

>coping powerfatty who cant highbar
aka too weak to handle the weight
not necessarily, the bench is an upper body movement not a wrist isolation
that same logic applies to anyone who ever put on a belt, kneewraps and arm sleeves.
does none of you fricking morons know what a wrist wrap is ?
>arm sleeves.
elbow sleeve*

if deadlift isnt a grip exercise then why do you need straps? if squat doesnt require core strength, why use a belt? it does require those things lmfao
still doesnt help grip strength, its made to alleviate/support and wont make a difference to required strength in grip.
Cool story bro. You still can’t lift the weight though.
I can deadlift 4 plates double overhand hook grip weakling. Not even chalk
>hook grip
Hook grip accomplishes the same thing straps do. You didn't lift the weight.
Let me guess.. you deadlift 3pl8
4 actually, but nice try.
Ok well I can almost do 6pl8 with hook grip, more impressive than your deadlift 😉
Ok, you're still using a handicap to grip the weight.
Ok and youre weak so opinion discarded
I can grip a barbell, you can't.
wrist wraps don't help with grip he's talking about bench moron

Yes they do. Compressing the tendons in the wrist keeps the hand closed more tightly.
The bar spin just means its a shitty bar no?
what lift do you mean?
Weaklings need to work on their grip strength
doesnt help with grip strength.
You don't actually lift weights at all.
How many of these threads do you make a day.
frick off gripgays
was hard stuck at 225 deadlift for months waiting for those grip gains to come in even after leaving every work out sore as frick in my hands
now I'm attempting 275 deadlift for 6 tomorrow casually after only 3 weeks of getting straps
>wrist wraps
>for grip
the pressure of the wraps locks your wrist tendons into a closed position.
Wtf bro, just close your hands.
it's a marginal benefit but it's not zero and it makes a difference at a high enough level.
Only non-lifters will tell you this, zero percent of people with a decent deadlift grip double overhand. It's either mixed or hook grip with chalk or straps. Wowee lots of DYEL newbies on fit today
They are clearly two different things, hook grip is mostly just pain tolerance.
Maybe if you do it wrong
Rajeesh, you have never hook gripped a barbell and picked it up from the floor
I don't get what your going for here,
Hook grip and doh have different purposes,
That is what I said, everyone here stoned?
You said they were the same are you dumb?
Read the reply chain and try again
I'm out your obviously room temperature iq.
holy shit i didn't know kyle rittenhouse started liftan
>t.
thats not straps though, wrist wraps and straps are two completely different things.
The post I replied to was obviously about straps, go to bed
you wrap something around the wrist for grip strength ? you clearly dont lift, just go back to the discord spamm group you came from.
Liar.
I hope something slightly inconvenient happens to you soon.
You need to do some wrist curls
(you)
>using wrist weights instead of microplates for 1.25 kgs increments
I'm genius
I have done that for 1kg increments cuz my gym didnt have micropl8s
Also why tf are microplates so expensive doe
Wraps are only allowed if the bar is freezing cold
>morons in this thread confusing wrist wraps and wrist straps
