I've been going to the gym for 7 months, people would mostly just leave me be to lift but in the last couple months random people come up to me to shake my hand and say goodbye before they leave the gym. People are way more polite just to me in general too.
This never used to happen before so what gives?
Is it because of the new years guys who think it's gym etiquette to shake hands before leaving or something?

That is not what's happening at all, these are people I have literally never seen or talked to before. I did make like 5 acquantances that I recognize and greet but don't know their names

How and why though? I'm still fat and weak, maybe it's just cause I'm big so I'm attention grabbing? Like not muscular but I just take up a lot of space and I tend to grunt and breathe loudly when I lift weights so people assume I'm a powerlifter guy or something?

I'm actually stuck alone in the locker room right now. Can't seem to find the exits. The lockers are rusting and there is weird reddish oily stuff on the floor so I can't even put my gym bag down. I hate my gym.
