Weed alone isn't going to make you lazy piece of shit. Yeah obviously if you can't control yourself smoking weed all day is not going to make you very productive, but like many mind altering substances there is upside in therapeutic doses. Like nearly everything in life, it's all about moderation. If you hit the gym 2 hours a day doing nothing but bicep curls without any rest days you'd have a shit physique in the best case scenario.

Ultimately they were looking for an excuse to not workout and didn't mean that much to them. Student athletes that drop out of sports who have a drug habit that gets out of hand were either burning out already and/or have other problems in their life the physical activity alone wasn't helping them deal with.

Even for genuinely addictive substances there's research that its not simply the pharmacology at play but in many cases there's a social aspect. These people lack genuine connections with other people and fill that void with their relationship, their dependence, on the substance.

Oh my frick have I grown to hate weed. I know so many good people what are just totally fricked by weed addiction. At least drunks know they have a problem. These frickers make 9001 excuses for their addiction.

That's not true at all. Most of the people I hang out with smoke or do some form of cannabis. Some do so very regularly, others are like the 1 beer with dinner type. I do so only very occasionally and I wish I did it more. But as is I get a great high from it because I don't really build up tolerance. It's fun when you're hanging with friends. The friends who do regularly use have recognized at times when they're smoking a lot and take tolerance breaks, months long in some cases. When you're dealing with that kind of tolerance level any kind of effect be it favorable or not is going to be much more muted anyhow.

You can't even compare problematic drinking with heavy cannabis use. One is literally poison that the body can tolerate in specific very limited amounts while the other simply suffers from a bad delivery system sometimes.

Coffee is more "addictive" than weed. If your self-serving definition of addiction is that someone does it a lot, I guess I'm addicted to reading books and drinking water.

Not a stoner by the way. Weed does nothing for me, I just think it's moronic that so many profess and probably even believe they're addicted to ridiculous things like the internet.

If i played GTA, watched porn, or suffered any intrusive thought, I would ruminate and take it on board and think that it was a precursor to becoming a psychopath so became agoraphobic lol, lost all the love I had for myself and then whenever I drank I would burn bridges with close ones cause I resented anyone that had enough love for themselves that they could share it. Of course this was weed paired with porn / no vit D / easy-dopamine shit like binge drinking, so it was a mess but weed was a road block for my self-awarness.

You're mates wont change unless they realise that binging weed stacks the odds against they're potential - for example, how many stoners skip class coupled with research articles stating that one of the biggest indicator of academic success is attendance.

Otherwise the trick is to get them to get a new perspective through new hobbies / non-weed environments. Which incidentally is what I did.

Swallowed my pride, moved back home, still smoke and drank as a coping strategy for my OCD like symptoms but eventually you can only burn so many bridges before it catches up with you at which point I realised that the value of being lucid and challenging my destructive thoughts was worth more than the value I got from escaping myself. Took long enough lol.

Gl to you and your mates anon.

Alcohol is overt. You drink too much and end up homeless or in jail because you killed someone.

The problem is that weed gives you the impression that you're indulging in a great, important and life improving activity. The thing is, the wisdom and insights you have on weed are real. Anyone who denies it doesn't know what he's talking about. But it has side effects. You get lost too much in details and lose the bigger picture. It's like you're renovating a house and ending up painting one single wall perfectly while enjoying y it and thinking you're doing the greater job ever, which might be true.

I was in that trap for ~7 years, so deep in it that I didn't want to stop because I was afraid to lose my superpowers. I haven't consumed weed in almost a year, I can't watch movies anymore now after watching one every day for years, but that's just how it is. At least I can read books again. And I really wonder what the frick happened in all those years.

    weed destroyed my friend group
it started very fun at the beginning as it made anything x10 times better ( or at least that was the feeling during novelty). We would hang out, smoke a bit and do different outdoor activities and have a great time.
Then one summer it started to become a fun killer. We would hang out to ride our bikes, stop after 15 min to smoke then spend the rest of the time smoking. Play a football match, smoke at half time and never come back for the second half. And this with everything.
We literally stopped doing any activities and just messaged each other to meet somewhere and smoke there.
It's been almost 10 years and they still hang out every other day to smoke, only difference is that they do it at each others houses now. The conversations are quite sad too, all about what they smoked last week, what they are going to buy or that time they got high somewhere.
Sometimes I think how different it would have been if we didn't have fun the first time doing it, or if we said no the first time someone offered.

Weed and vidya literally steal your youth.

Eventually just had to stop hanging out with my friends because all they ever wanted to do was smoke. The first thing they'd do in the morning and the last thing they'd do at night was take a hit. They all stopped working out and studying. Three of them ending up failing their classes and dropping out. One tried to quit but kept giving up because he couldn't sleep without smoking. The craziest part is, they're my age. they live off pizza and monster, don't exercise, socialize, or really do anything besides laze around.

hearing them screaming into their gamer headsets every night is a sobering reminder of what happens when you give up on life. I'm glad I didn't go that route. I thought I was behind in life, because I just barely started a job in my field 2 years after finishing college, until I met them.

The thing about weed, is that at low doses of thc it boosts GABA and lowers glutamate, however when someone is 'stoned' it's the total other way around, which causes all of the anxiety, paranoia, thought loops stuttering etc. Dose dependant substance for sure which very few people talk about.

I was the same, never touched the stuff until I graduated high school and committed to my local university. I was addicted for 4 years, got kicked out of school near the tail-end of my sophomore year, and worked 2 part-time jobs immediately after for a year.

I remember the day I decided to quit very vividly: I was at a kickback with my friends (they had just popped MDMA and started practicing their shuffling for an upcoming festival) while my best friend (and dealer) and I were prepping to take reverse gravity bong rips in the pool. I packed my bowl and smoked my entire bowl, and immediately, the aroma of chlorine and smell/taste of weed made me sick to my stomach. I glanced at my reflection in the pool and I couldn’t help but feel so fricking pathetic about what I was doing and how I was feeling. I sat down and thought about things for about 10 minutes before I decided to go home.

that was the last time I saw those guys, blocked and deleted them from social media, phones, etc. I applied for reinstatement and went back to school 2 months later on academic probation for 2 semesters (which I passed), then quit my second job to focus on graduating. Managed to graduate 3 years later with 2 Bachelor degrees and 2 certificates after slowing down my course load. Then, I got into two separate grad programs, one of which I got a full ride scholarship for, and graduated from both 3 years after I started them.

I can’t help but think how great my life is now, but I can’t imagine how much better it would have been had I not touched the stuff. I am glad I did quit when I did, that group of friends all live sad lives, 3 of them also died of ODs (they had just gotten into experimenting with cocaine before I cut them off).

Its not the dude weed lmao ers or even the 420 smoke weed everyday bros that are the most tiresome.

Its the frickin "why are weedbros so in your face about it REEEEE" voices that are the most consistent and uncreative.
    Im over it.
At least if a stoner stops smoking they're back in God's good graces according to you incurable drooling inbred pack animals.
When its to the point where its a plant that comes out of the garden, which is like half the us, you guys really just oughta let it go and frick off.

The problem I have with adult weed smoking friends is they try too hard despite generally being losers. Taking shit job after shit job doing call support with no higher aspirations, ugly obese wives/girlfriends. Non of that would be the issue for me though, the issue is the discussions they have while smoking. They always attempt to discuss religion or politics seemingly as a means to not feel like they’re just getting high and wasting time sitting on their ass but instead being productive. And they way they are in these conversations is downright moronic.
    >BIDENNNN!!!
    >TRUMP BAD!!!
    >CHRISTIANITY CRINGE AND BAD!!!
    >israelite RELIGION GOOD!!!
You can offer an opposing POV or argument without criticizing or attacking theirs in any way whatsoever, not even necessarily supporting the opposing side just correcting the gals etchings they said, and they get offended and start insinuating you’re some extremist bad person. It’s ridiculous. Sorry homosexual I’m the not the one settling for a my 600lb life disloyal woman who’s gaining fat himself stuck in a dead end job taking Facebook news outlet stances as a way of claiming a form of moral superiority here like a complete NPC sheep, that’s you.
These same gays wonder why I never hang out with them anymore or why I choose to smoke weed alone in my house/with my girlfriend only or why I no longer smoke as much as I once did with them. I smoke at most one weekend a month, usually going months without touching it. Once a year I’ll take a 1-3 week vacation and use it for half the duration.

i smoke weed every day and hit the gym 5 times a week. In fact, you can even integrate weed in your routine if done right. Everything else is just cope. Either stoners coping they're lazy or IST's coping they aren't mentally strong enough to hit weed and work out.

dude weed lmao is not only an overrated drug but it negatively affects you as you described
It's 100% a psyop that it's supposed to be fine in moderation and that it's harmless

      >dude weed lmao is not only an overrated drug
It's not overrated, it's better than alcohol. But it should be enjoyed very infrequently if you want to be healthy.

True. Unless it has therapeutic purposes, total abstinence is usually more healthy than any amount of moderate consumption.

I wouldn't correlate it. I hated exercise so much I literally gave myself cholinergic urticaria by doing nothing, and that was before I touched weed.

Trick them into eating peyote and strand them in (close to civilization) woods. Sink or swim.
