I used to hate math too but decided to go back to school to get a degree in mechanical engineering and I've gotten straight A's in all my math classes, even going for a minor in it since I love it so much. Only math class I did "poorly" in was Calculus I, and that was years ago when I had a huge ego problem and promptly dropped out a semester later.
Anyways math is based, it's real fun. I encourage everyone to at least learn calculus, once you start getting into multi-variable that's where the fun begins.

No way AI is going to take over tech work. People will have huge reservations, not to mention major beaurocracy issues with giving a robot root/administrator on everything. At least not by the time I retire (I'm 39)

        [...]
I've heard something like people aren't made to want to just sit inside all day long being the reason why people in "comfortable' office jobs where they are in shelter, air conditioning/heating, don't have physically demanding work, the type of bullshit working that seems to make up most office jobs now that are based around meaningless meetings and stupid emails, that cause a complete lack of purpose. Something also about how these types of jobs don't really produce "tangible" results which also leads to feelings of uselessness.

This is why you work to live but don't live to work. People in the trades/physical labor jobs keep you fit when you're young but destroy your body. Have fun roofing at 52 years old

tech is an industry, not a job role. everyone in tech gets paid ridiculously regardless of what they do. account exec is sales and you need to at least be read up enough to understand what your product does. various execs have various skill but really good ones will have good knowledge of the software theyre selling, possibly even as much as a sales engineer or customer success manager which are more technical roles.

                Anonymous

tbh i do not know more than what you could learn just reading job descriptions or searching what they do. i know some but basically you are an engineer, so the expectation is you have an intimate knowledge of the product, but your real job is trying to create a scenario using the customers current infrastructure/needs/situation/budget to create scenario in which they would implement it prior to sale. you also have to field a lot of the questions the sales guy said 'let me get you in touch with someone that knows' turfed over to you.

however, if you want commissions. your best bet is straight up sales/account exec. at my company they are the ONLY one on the sales teams that actually get the commissions and sometimes they can be in the hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars depending on how big the sale is. this is complete and utter bullshit since theres like 10 people on each sales team working on a sale and in some cases the account exec is literally just a blabbermouth that speaks well, glad hands, and sets up meetings with people that actually do the real work and the client. its a real sticking point but im sure it varies from company to company.

In all honesty, don't listen to the internet.
IST has some good guides, but they'll try to discourage you beyond that, because they're sojwaks who want to feel special for spending time jacking off to C. The reality is that the market is full of incompetent people and very high in demand; as long as you've got at least some basics down, something a year's worth of studying on the side, you're good to go, just spam your CV.
The people you'll be talking to within a month, will barely understand the autistic things you've memorized and as long as there's a github and low salary expectation and the right image to back it up, they're going to hire you. It's upwards from there.
Just find something you like. I honestly prefer my sysadmin job to web dev. It's comfy, practically no one else has similar skills around me, and it's not as linear(ly boring and frustrating) as web dev. I solve unique shit all the time and it's fun without getting too tiresome and big, little scripts that do the trick. I say dev ops and net sec are still valid and interesting paths.
Remember, the internet really is gay and not a reflection of reality. If you've carried heavy shit around to buy groceries and pay the bills, playing on your laptop while sipping on coffee for more is as good as it sounds. It's very stressful until you're in, but it only takes persistence and optimism. WAGMI.

If you are an asocial tard who does a bootcamp and isn’t smart enough to learn how to get shit done then yeah your career might suck

If you have good communication skills and are able to actually get shit done you’ll never be outsourced to India or automated away. Nor will all the executive dysfunctional Sooners who don’t know what a file is replace you. For a lot of jobs one smart person making $250k+ will run circles around an army of 3rd world era making $40k. AI and cheap third world/zoomed labor such just makes the $250k+ folks more productive by delegating tasks

Losers obsessed with money are usually one of those points, always is. I always meet these late 20s losers whose sole topic of conversation revolves around money and only money. What to buy, how to make more, how to save, etc. People of genetic quality don't obsessed with money like genetic dead-end losers do, it's why israelites are so obsessed with money

You spend entirely too much time on IST and not enough time on you career

Money is awesome not because I walk around bragging about what I make, but because what miney buys is peace of mind. As someone who was once living on a friends couch, to now making 6 gigs and owning a home and having a family—what money buys you is lack of stress. I don’t have to worry about having a roof over my head, or feeding my family, and I put money in my retirement. This allows me to focus on other things like raising my kids, self improvement, fitness, cooking, etc

It’s part of a bigger picture. You should strive to be the chad you’re jealous of in life.

I don’t really see an alternative. I try to be humble, but from deciding if I wanted to pay my water or electric bill, and not going to the ER when I had a kidney stone bevause I didn’t have insurance —to being able to put $ aside for investments and having medical insurance and a roof over my head and not having to eat ramen and tuna every day—yeah dude money matters

I don’t work like a dog though. I make 125,000$/year and I work about 2 hours a day. I go to the gym, help do chores around the house, do diy projects, and play with the kids as most I.T. people WFH. Most people I work with do this. Only people that work like a dog are blue collar workers who are out of the house and working under the table or on commission 10 hours a day. Even finance people only work during month end close and wiggle the mouse for 3 weeks a month. Are you naive?

Also you don’t need a degree to do this job. Most people I work with started out at Best Buy on the geek squad and learned the basics of computers and started out on the helpdesk and worked their way up in their 20s.

The dirty secret is most office jobs are ridiculously easy and you don’t have to try. No one cares. I literally just didn’t do my job one week to see what would happen and no one even said anything.

If I ever get fired I’ll do what the pajeets do and just lie on my resume and cram for the interview and learn on the job.

I found a decent job cleaning boats that I’m gonna apply to today. Supposedly pays up to $25/hour and they don’t care for experience but I’ll see about that. Seems nice and active but not in the way stocking would be. I figure it’ll help me cut faster.

This is true. I think a part of it is getting into office work way too early. It's such a dry environment and places that try to make it "exciting" just make it another hell in it's own way. If you have a family and past life experiences like military or tradie or something I can see it being comfy but otherwise it ends up feeling like purgatory

        >physically demanding jobs are never a good idea if you're serious about going to the gym
realist shit ever man. I got a job being a box monkey at UPS a handful of years ago, thinking "wow I'll make a ton of cash and also be working out while I do it! I'll get double the gains!" when in reality it was like building the fricking pyramids in ancient Egypt. Trucks are either sweltering hot so you pour sweat from every hole or they're so cold you can't feel your fingers after an hour yet you have an hourly "packages loaded per hour" to keep or else get written up, on top of supervisors who don't know how to do their fricking job or keep any kind of order. Every day I got off and I was instantly hitting up cookout, taco bell, mcdonalds, whatever was open, and skipping the gym because I didn't want to have to go home and cook and work out a second time. Fricking horrible shit. As a temp in the holiday season it's a good way to earn some fast cash on the side because they'll hire anybody and you get like $15/hr but don't do that shit long term, it will slowly kill you and especially your gains. Every warehouse job I've had has been similar.

someone died? I write the press release. we opened a new branch? I write the announcement, etc. I will concede that its not as easy as it sounds as there are lot of stakeholders to please but definitely easier than drilling the ground or something

I work like 20 real hours per week, 10 hours of meetings, 10 hours of twitter if at office, vidya or early gym if WFH days

so overall in US terms I'd actually be close to 125-150k yes, but in EU its a bit different as cost of living is like half

it's basically a half tech/coding, half customer service job, usually with a heavy emphasis on social media workings. A marketer is supposed to help a client pick out designs for logos, banners, etc just general shit to promote their store, brand, website, whatever, and then help those businesses get the word out there and some other basic shit like that. Sometimes building the website as well, sometimes designing the logos and shit from scratch, you get the idea.

the long and short of it is that it's easy deskwork and don't let anybody tell you otherwise. Shit is literally life on easy mode aside from the occasional butthole client and/or boss/coworkers. Sometimes "oh I had to give up my weekend because my boss called me in and I had to work on my day offfff :~~*" which happens at every job anyways. As if getting called in on a day off is exclusively a deskwork problem. I'd much rather get called in at a deskwork job over a construction zone job. Bunch of whiny homosexuals trying to prop up their meager lives like their problems hold any weight outside of their own head.

lol soft skill corporate people are always worth a laugh when they start up their impotent whining.
            >muh job is just sooooo hard and stressful
its just not, man. billions of people would kill to have your problems at work.

that's what I'm saying man. These people live the softest and most cushioned lives. I wish I could somehow have all these keyboard warrior desk jockey butthole friends of mine do some of the jobs I've done for a month or two so they'd all know how good they have it, and even then the jobs I do are probably in the top 10% of the world just by virtue of being in the USA. Absolutely embarrassing. And then half of them don't even go to the gym to have anything to show for it either. I didn't either but at least I had a relatively viable excuse, but sitting down typing all day with zero gains to show for it? They're also super unrelatable. When I was a box monkey I got along great with this plumber I knew by proxy because we could shoot the shit about work and tell war stories. But what kind of war stories would a desk jockey possibly have? They can't conceptualize actual hard work.

exactly man. I will never understand. If I ever do land some do-nothing desk job I'll be glad I have all of this actual experience under my belt beforehand, firstly because I know I'll appreciate the more lax work environment more, and secondly because I'll know how to relate to the other guys. People who have only worked desk jobs end up being generally uppity and look down on others for no reason. They don't realize that the construction workers, plumbers, box monkeys, arguably even cooks and waiters have a more important spot in the general society than they do because without those people nothing important gets done.

Like my marketing major friend I was talking about earlier for example. If she lost her job or her company got shut down, absolutely nothing happens. Maybe a website is late to launch or goes down, whatever, nothing important to any relevant part of anyone's life. But if UPS were to shut down, or any of the truck driving lines, etc a frickload of people and companies are absolutely fricked since everything relevant needs logistics to operate, food and medicine being at the top, with paper and shit like that too. These white collar c**ts don't realize that without the people they look down on, their favorite liquor doesn't reach their favorite bar, their favorite fish doesn't reach their favorite sushi place, etc etc whatever white collar normies do. But also they don't get the papers to turn in to their boss by Friday which hits their deadlines hard, rippling toward the customers and such. Yet they act so above it, as if being a professional keyboard warrior is something to be proud of and elevates them somehow. Baffling. They'll work themselves to death in the same room for the next 50 years to buy their boss a fourth summer house, with no sunlight and no concept of how meaningless their position is. Truly a special type of purgatory.

You can feel that way all you want but you can look at when the Covid lockdowns happened and the wageslaves were called “essential workers” while the white collar people just worked from home making tons of money while the wageslaves slaved away.

Sure these white collar workers in tech, marketing, etc provide literally nothing of value and their jobs have no purpose, but the wages say different

                Anonymous

My job was still more important than white collars especially during covid. It had the complete adverse effect on shipping companies. More people at home with an extra $1400 in their pocket from the stimulus meant prime pickings for Amazon and the like, as well as constantly shipping containers of the jab, people ordering groceries for whatever reason, buying new shit day in and day out, etc. Every day for 2 straight years was basically Christmas eve with the amount of shit being moved. White collar jobs come and go at the drop of a hat, but the mail has to run period. As well as plumbing, construction, etc. It's not about the payment, it's about the difficulty of the work. Also during the covid lockdowns, the white collar workers weren't allowed to do anything unless that thing was already at their house. No restaurants, no movies, no gym for a lot of people, can't even go to the park, etc etc. Not the strongest point to make. A lot of time to just sit at home and either read, vidya, or consoooom with no alternatives.
                >Sure these white collar workers in tech, marketing, etc provide literally nothing of value and their jobs have no purpose, but the wages say different
this is true as a whole in the states so it's almost a non argument. Like how your job and mine are both objectively more important than LeBron James or Taylor Swift, but who among us are the millionaires? Everything about this place is backwards, but also I think it has to do with the fact that UPS has way more employees than every US-based marketing firm combined as well as offering insurance and benefits to the full timers and management (which is a lot) so they are more incentivized to hit a middle ground as far as hourly pay goes without destroying their bottom line, but it still stays on par or better than other jobs around that also don't require higher education generally. Techs just play more directly with big fish hence the bigger pay, I'd guess, but still worthless work overall.

The thing I have never truly understood is what are all the people in tech doing? Honestly, I truly do not understand it. I know that these tech companies I guess make software or whatever, but what benefits are they providing society? It seems like "big tech"'s main purpose is to harvest data and sell shit to you, and the smaller tech companies, I don't even understand where their products or software are even going. Startups, all this shit. I don't get it. I truly don't.

you're projecting, or I'm wording things poorly. My intention was not to just continuously hammer home the idea that desk jockeys who have always been desk jockeys are homosexuals who can't conceptualize actual hard work. It was to hammer home the fact that any blue collar job is, and was, more important than any white collar job, as a whole and also during covid when the other anon brought it up.

I don't seek fulfillment at my job, far from it in fact, but I'd go as far as to say that the more involved your job is then the better it is, objectively. You feel a lot better about the work you do roofing than you do making spreadsheets and sitting in meetings for those same 8 hours. But ultimately we're all part of the same rat race. You yourself are actually a great example of the point I wanted to make originally; Your software engineer job is cushy and probably significantly less stressful (but not stress-free of course) and pays a lot, but you working as an EMT was absolutely more important than anything you'll ever achieve typing on a computer and in meetings surrounding it.

homosexual. It's not about helping people, it's about being a more valuable job objectively. If everybody lost their cushy code monkey job, the world would function the exact same way when you wake up the next day. Notice how Musk fired all the twitter devs and it still runs just fine? Its almost like 99% of coding and development jobs don't matter at all. I had a blue collar job, then got a promotion into a white collar title at that same workplace, and it was like being in a fricking prison. Coding, software engineering, development, etc etc doesn't do anything. It doesn't provide anything for the everyman's life other than arbitrary bullshit like social media and video games and other nonsense like that, which everyone would probably be a lot better off without anyways.

Your points are all valid but they are meaningless because people need to make money so no one cares about the “value” their jobs provide.

you're right. My original post was just venting about desk jockeys who think their job is difficult when all they've done is push buttons in a comfy chair in the air conditioning. I guess we've come full circle.

You're still being ordered around, worked like a chinese sweatshop whenever your boss feels like it and if you say no, you get kicked out. construction is still objectively more valuable than programming and coding will ever be. Until you can somehow digistruct or automate the means to replace the need for blue collar jobs, they will be more important than coding no matter what size the pay gap is. Cope and seethe all you like but it's true. Your job simply isn't nearly as important as you've been conditioned to believe.

They also let me see how they work around and it wasn't as soulless as my first engineering job. Sadly, I had to decline the offer due to other circumstances, but I would definitely apply to that position in the near future. It also depends on the people you hang out with. contract catering can be one. you usually work in a museum or in a food court of an office. You work around 8 hours between 6am and 5pm (depends on the opening time of the place), you get at least 1 meal a day, and don't have to deal with the stress of normal restaurants. If it's an office, you won't work in the weekends either.
You get time to go to the gym before or after (I used to go in the morning), and still have time to learn a skill or start a business on the side.
You can start in the washing up area and do food prep in a week or so if you aren't moronic and can cut vegetables.

Do NOT work in restaurants or in fastfood, they are gains goblins in every possible way.

Easy, you go into IT and work decently hard in your 20s on the helpdesk and then move up the chain, then you apply at a new place and tell them you make 10K more than you actually make and so on. Do this 3x and then once you know what you're doing the work becomes easier and you do project work instead of support. If you go into IT security its super easy since IT Security is mostly bullshitters who can't cut it as sysadmins and do moronic shit that vulnerability scanners find. After Covid most places are 90% remote. Also, if the company says they're "AGILE" sign up immediately. AGILE is moronic bullshit that does nothing but make everyone unproductive and bullshit their way through the work week.

Military is nice in this regard. Everyone around you has a vested interest in your physical health. Current fitness routine with the unit I'm with right now:

    >Monday: Get out of work early in the afternoon to workout on my own.
    >Tuesday: Meet with unit in the morning at gym for accountability; break off and workout on my own
    >Wednesday: Get out of work early in the afternoon to workout on my own
    >Thursday: Meet with unit in the morning at gym for accountability; break off and workout on my own
    >Friday: Only day we have to wear PT Uniform. Meet with unit in the morning at the gym for accountability/announcements; break off and workout on my own
    >Saturday/Sunday: Rest or workout if I feel like it

Only downside is you're essentially legally required to be in the gym for a minimum of one hour Mon-Fri. Sounds fine, but it can get packed in the weight room and I end up saying "frick it" and hopping on a cycling machine for an hour and watching youtube.

Yep pretty par for the course. Sometimes I wonder what its like to have a life as incomprehensibly incredible as everyone on this board has.

I deliberately come into fit career job threads to get even more angry, miserable, and despondent about my own life and hope that it eventually gives me the courage to actually kill myself rather than just thinking about it 24/7. Being exposed to a site that’s supposed to be full of “losers” but everyone actually has a life most people dream of is working.

Quit my job last month because I didn't earn enough for the stress. Now I'm just looking for something to do online, even if I make minimum wage I'm happy. Unfortunately returning to neetdom has sapped me of all ambition and I've been jerking off 8 times a day since.

Marines if you can stand the humiliation of being a part of the military. If they want you to go to war you can quit by taking an unauthorized day off and smoking a ton of weed that day.
If you somehow avoid combat just make sure you get injured on the job enough to ensure that you get disability upon discharge. Do not forget to do this.
At that point you get paid to stay at home as NEET and can workout all you want.

      best injury for this?

      >the money laundering scheme known as big tech is a legitimate industry

The thing I have never truly understood is what are all the people in tech doing? Honestly, I truly do not understand it. I know that these tech companies I guess make software or whatever, but what benefits are they providing society? It seems like "big tech"'s main purpose is to harvest data and sell shit to you, and the smaller tech companies, I don't even understand where their products or software are even going. Startups, all this shit. I don't get it. I truly don't.

so heres what it is. billionaires, banks, VCs (billionaire fronts) give money to startups. startups then "develop" their product without making any sort of profit and this allows people to claim absurd valuations on this company using clever marketing and buzzwords. they then "sell" their product to other startups but usually its quid pro quo so startup B wont buy the product unless startup A agrees to buy their product. this makes it seem like the absurd claims really are working and the companies adoption is growing at a meteoric rate and you really better get on this rocket now before you miss your chance. its important to note that neither startup A or startup B are profitable and the money they use to operate or purchase anything probably comes from the exact same billionaires and VCs. every once in a while, companies that arent in on the grift buy the product, usually because sales reps have connections that move from company to company and just agree to buy whatever the rep is slinging at that point in time. dumbass investors fall for the grift by investing once the startups go public. more money gets pumped into the system. the billionaires end up cleaning up because they eventually pull the plug on whoever and take whatever money is on the table with them.

i pull all of this out of my ass completely, but these are my observations so far as someone who is working in tech and doesnt understand it either.

Yes, I know there are. It was relatively big news here in the area, if I gave a crap about following news. But I'm sure all the people who got laid off got their massive severance packages of tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars to sit at home and apply for other jobs in the industry that they probably got no problem. Although I wouldn't know since I don't talk to anyone.

The only thing that those massive layoffs made me think was giving me an even bigger feeling that the tech industry is a scam and more anger I felt about hearing how tech workers barely do any work yet still get all their benefits or working there. How were these companies able to sustain thousands, sometimes tens of thousands of jobs for months/years that they were able to completely cut bait on? What the hell were all these people doing all day for months and years working remotely or in their offices if they could all be cut just like that?

Hello neighbor. Most of the time when we brag about how little work we do we are joking, some weeks I really do work very little but other weeks a lot. We get paid a lot because big tech companies make a shitton of money per employee and we deal with business content that either are seeking to make shitton of money or already make a shitton of money. I saved my company $2m/year this year by making a thing faster; the company now makes that much more every year with no further work. That is why we get paid a lot

"tech" is a soul crushing field full of strange freaks, and everyone I know who went into it has some sort of strange social personality condition or mental illness. also they tend to be mental DYELs even if they "exercise".

that being said any white collar professional hybrid remote job would probably be best for fitness (law, management, marketing, etc), especially in a public sector. I've worked manual labor and even the white collar ones where you're on your feet a lot (nursing, logistics, teaching) can be very tiring and not worth the pay. teaching is another very good choice but ONLY if you can get into a good district or school and don't mind the low pay.

It'd be nyc because I'd be living with my brother for a while and getting on my feet (i'm an expat). I'd probably wanna leave to a smaller town in the south once I'd saved up enough. Being a cop isn't on my mind as a 'career', but maybe a 5 year stint. I'd be a firefighter if I could but I'm pretty sure I'm too old.

if you think youre going to start abusing your power and being a shit cop, id just as soon tell you to rope instead. hating people is a bad way to go in public safety because you are dealing with them all day and even if you arent outwardly a dick it will start eating you inside and youll get really bad burnout which you do not want. its not a joke.
          t. medic for 6 years that hated people and had to leave or was gonna blow my brains out literally.

This is what I'm worried about. That I might snap and go full police brutality. The other thing is if I can even be mercenary enough to do enforce minor laws I don't care about.

I'm amused you're a medic cuz I considered that a life career too but I don't wanna deal with drugged out addicts and giving kids cpr while neglectful parents shoot heroin needles.

Being a cop can be stressful and you often find lots of cops who drink heavily after work. My brother had to apprehend a school shooter, often encounter people who want to kill you or are just plain crazy and can't be reasoned with.

DESU, I know the pay isn't as good, but I would try to be a cop in a small white town just outside of the suburbs. Something with like a 20-man department. You basically write little old ladies ticket and settle domestic disputes and arguments over people mowing the lawn too early on weekends. All the perks of being a cop with pension and discounts and all that but none of the bullshit they have to deal w/ in the cities.

if you think youre going to start abusing your power and being a shit cop, id just as soon tell you to rope instead. hating people is a bad way to go in public safety because you are dealing with them all day and even if you arent outwardly a dick it will start eating you inside and youll get really bad burnout which you do not want. its not a joke.

Career? Police and firefighter, police is sort of required to get on juice and train. Fire, youll be able to train at work a lot of the time and eat with your bros and build comradery. If you just want a job, serving is pretty good, get lots of steps in, work with young and hot girls, very fun atmosphere if you're at a good restaurant so good for social gainz, but not really a career. But Im serving now as I work towards firefighting and I enjoy it.

crazy how everyone here has a 6 figure wfh job where the only "work" involved is checking their emails

anyway unless you're doing manual labour all day you really shouldn't make any excuses and just wake up earlier if it's so hard going after work

      >yeah so im not a cop or a firefighter but here's what it's like
why do people love parroting things they've only heard and haven't experienced like they're an authority on it. it's not at all common to juice or even lift as a cop shut the frick up

All the cops I train with are pretty jacked and quite a few are definitely on something. But I train at an MMA gym so that may obviously skew my view I guess.

True for hard work but false on the smart thing. The world is FULL of people who bust their asses and get ground down to the nub for pennies, but there's also myriad ways to improve your financial situation which involve next to no extra effort. Primarily just spending less money, being a miser is free and fun. Everyone should invest any extra cash, either in $SPY if you're smart or something else if you're ballsy, never an index fund. Living with someone for lower rent (yes, having a GF is good for finances as long as she pays her share), etc. That said, there's millions of people who are just plain fricked if they get cancer or whatever, so I'm not saying the system is fair by any means. But there's things you can do. Pinch pennies and don't bother working hard.

is this thread a larp? do you all really have tech jobs that pay well and allow you complete freedom

This thread is to suggest strategies to have a fit life while making a living. Tech is a way to do this. It’s obviously causing a lot of people to be upset. I’m one of the engineers replying above but no I do not make a ton of money because it is my first job in it and I need some experience first before I can command a higher wage. IRL people don’t just give you money for nothing, but I’m sure some of the people in here who have been doing it awhile make a lot. The people who are saying they do nothing and make a lot of money are lying. They have valuable skills that they’ve built up over years, skills that you too could get if you decided to educate yourself, and now in this present moment perhaps they feel like they’re doing nothing but in reality they have rare and valuable skills if they don’t work that many hours and make good money. This is possible and you too could do this and live a fit life. Apparently this causes the incels to absolutely seethe

I just downloaded a few hundred books on gardening, so I am going to study how to grow my own food. It’s a simple life and I am happy. Just bought 40acres to hunt on and gunna build some blinds. Again, while I’m getting paid to do my other job that I just don’t do and no one notices. Perks of being a small fish in a big pond

you're just being pedantic and you know it. Surprise surprise, electricians are way more important than programmers because without electricians, programmers can't do their jobs AND don't get power to their homes.
                [...]
you're right. My original post was just venting about desk jockeys who think their job is difficult when all they've done is push buttons in a comfy chair in the air conditioning. I guess we've come full circle.
                [...]
construction is still objectively more valuable than programming and coding will ever be. Until you can somehow digistruct or automate the means to replace the need for blue collar jobs, they will be more important than coding no matter what size the pay gap is. Cope and seethe all you like but it's true. Your job simply isn't nearly as important as you've been conditioned to believe.

If you’re ranking peoples careers based off who needs what, then IT people are the most important of any white collar job behind the electricians, since no one can login to their computers without them

The most important job in society is probably farmers then. Since without them, we would have to grow our own food.

Guess what? Most farmers fail and have to sell their farms. Because it isn’t financial viable.

One day you’ll grow up buddy

                >of any white collar job
see, now you're getting what I'm saying. Don't know where you got that info regarding farmers unless it's the stereotypical "I made it up" shit but I'm not finding wherever you got that idea from. Either way, farming is the most important job in the world by a mile, and a lot of shit behind that is still leagues ahead of IT. Even the farmers who fail are more valuable than IT people. Plus the majority of farmers who do sell end up selling to other farmers, at least in the few cases I've observed in my hometown, so possibly anecdotal.
                >Guess what? Most farmers fail and have to sell their farms. Because it isn't financial viable.
lol the exact same shit can be said about any dime a dozen software programmer job. The amount of rising and falling tech startups is vastly higher than any amount of farmers having to sell off their shit, because everyone thinks they can be the next Steve Jobs. There isn't enough demand to justify the ludicrous surplus of supply of qualified people, and none of these startups have any unique niche to get their footing and stay on it. Meanwhile everybody has to eat, shit, shower, and needs clean water. Again, blue collar jobs are more important than software programming.
                >no one can login to their computers without them
the only reason any business would even need a computer is for emails, inventory depending on the nature of the business, and maybe some marketing. Believe it or not, not every business that has computers has every Adobe app installed. Word and maybe a google doc or two, as well as email, is all most businesses need with the rest being bloat. Sure, an IT hotline is justified, maybe some service technicians for bigger cases. But they are nowhere near as valuable as you're trying to prop them up to be. Most places have a guy who knows basic tech shit anyways who would be able to help the business log back in, which even further waters down the tech market.

Naturally there are going to be outliers and exceptions to anything because in most workplaces nothing is set in stone and absolutes don't typically exist, dipshit. I doubt he had happiness in his life. That’s why he needs to keep coming back to repeat how much money he makes, how little work he does, and even respond to people who say they are happy not making money and just living simply to tell him how stupid he is

Sailor in the marine industry in Canada

29-48 days out on the water and then equivilent time off with pay

work schedule is usually 6 hours on 6 hours off so sleep is wonky as frick.
co-workers range from old 60-70 year old career sailor salt dogs to weird fricks in their 20's and 30's. no time to work out on the ship really, so pretty bad job for fitness.
