Think of something normal you do every day with your arms. Now imagine doing it without your legs. You won't really realize how important your legs are until you get a serious injury and can't actually use them, then you realize how much leg strength comes into play for literally everything

      Anonymous

Unless you have stick legs you could literally just do some form of cardio, ie. cycling and you would maintain basic strength easily

This. I don't know why people think that you need to get tree trunk legs to be functional.
I'd say the best way to train as a man is calisthenics for an aesthetic upper body and plyometrics for a functional lower body.

You get the deadlift to 4 plates and squat to double bodyweight because it makes life in general just so much easier, and athletic performance skyrockets. It's just basic fitness - the level of an average worker before the industrial revolution. If you don't have that you're not a real man.
There is nothing else to it.
Once you are there you move those lifts on maintenance and go on to other lifts. If you fail to develop shoulders, calves, or forearms that's on you.

What the frick is up with all the threads lately acting like the sole reason to enter a gym is to looksmaxxx?
Your overall strength and mobility have massive, lifelong benefits. I don't give a frick if squatting or deadlifting aren't "optimal" for hypertrophy or whatever, 30-50 years down the road I'll be glad I consistently trained my ability to squat and hip hinge and don't require a cane to walk or an assisted living home to make sure I don't fricking die if I fall over. Not to mention how useful being able to pick up heavy shit is for just regular life stuff, like emergencies or moving shit around.

Kek. Imagine thinking heavy barbell back squats and deadlifts are good exercise to be pain feee in old age.

Try doing things like step ups or sled if you care about longetivity

If you actually care about longevity you would stop lifting entirely to save your joints and ligaments

Who said you have to lift heavy? 1 pl8 squat. 2 pl8 dead. That's all you need as far as function and mobility. Focus on form and control and since it's light weight you can do controlled negatives as well. You'll see yourself squatting lower than tryhard gymcels who can't even pass parallel

You should see the average 40yo worker. They drop something on the floor it takes them an entire minute to pick it up. I'm in amazing shape, my body is healthy, I don't have any joint pain.

Lifting heavy at the gym is stupid anyway. Most of the time it doesn't even translate into actial strength. ie gymcels getting btfo by construction workers

His triceps is huge compared to his shoulder which throws them out of proportion. Waist and legs dominate the body, seriously his quads are wider than his lats lol. Neck too small for the rest of his body. Needs facial hair. He should stop training legs and focus on developing his neck and lower lats.

    Oof, lots to unpack here

This is the second (2nd) thread OP has made about this guy and this thread clues us in as to why he continues to make these threads - squats and deadlifts cause him to seethe

Now, the mere concept of squatting and deadlifting is not enough to cause someone to seethe. Something had to have happened to OP for him to development such disdain for the exercises and those who push them. One can deduce OP attempted to squat/deadlift at a gym and the experience was so traumatic, so embarrassing, that he now takes his anger out online. One could hypothesize that it was maybe being able to squat only a miniscule amount of weight? A 25 on each side perhaps with terrible form? That's not enough to cause a traumatic experience however. Pair it with some gym bunnies laughing at him or some gym bros giving him a hard time. Maybe they tried to help him with his form and he sperged out as OP is not used to human interaction?

One can only guess. But whatever it was had had a major negative impact on OPs life. And it is best we chastise him for it.

They boost testosterone and promote overall body stability more than pretty much any other lift you can do. I experienced overall muscle growth much faster after dedicating myself to doing heavy squats and deadlifts once to twice a week.

      >They boost testosterone
They don't. It's an old IST meme.

Your legs got fat. You can't find good looking pants anymore. You still have small shoulders and twig arms, you t-rex gay.

I mean I have long legs and am a hard gainer so im pretty balanced. I can squat around 345 for 1 rep but my upper body in general got a lot stronger when I started focusing legs more.

        Anonymous

        >Your legs got fat.
How the frick does squatting make your legs fat? That makes no sense, your legs would be getting more muscular instead. Maybe if you're in a 1000+ calorie surplus that would happen since you're gaining so much fat, but no one does that anymore so that's unlikely and the rest of your body would be fat as well so that's irrelevant
