3 days/week sounds like it requires enough intensity to drive you too close to snap city to be effective.

what the frick are you talking about
3 workouts a week is plenty and it was an accepted paradigm for years
do people nowadays really know only these weird splits with 5-6 workouts a week?

        here comes the patrician's take:
        >3.5 workouts per week

just lift every other day, thats it

Sounds like you have bad work capacity and recovery ability and you're trying to blame us for that. You should do proper full body twice per week and add a day or two per week dedicated to wrecking yourself with high reps and volume along with some cardio to build up your capacity

    3x full body is fine

I did 5x a week full body and felt great, but hurt my sternum had too take a 3 month break and lost all my gains

    >suddenly increase in probably both total volume and frequency
    >surprised performance tanks
You are supposed to ease into this shit, you add 1 day extra for whatever lift/body part you think you can get away with, then balance out the volume so it's only 1-3 sets extra. Then you add from there.
High frequency requires some brains, you have to actively play with the intensity/volume to see what works and what you can adapt to.
    That being said I don't do full body x3 a week, I do upper/lower 2-3x times a week, my training week isn't 7 days.

Then rest longer moron. Do I need to hold your hand? You think 6 day PPL is going to be less of an issue? Those guys squat 155lbs for a reason.

48 hours is enough once your have muscles that can handle it. Also who cares if you miss a rep or two its not relevant. the overall volume increased which is increasing muscle size and you also put more stress on your muscles probably (i dont know how you normally workout but from what you say it sounds like you did) which is far greater than getting two extra fricking reps. Reps dont matter in the grand scheme of things its all about stressing the muscle more and more which strength training doesnt do well. Your muscle more so adapt then get properly stressed when strength training.
