>you shouldn't do Bench Press and Overhead Press at the same day
>because the CNS overload means the second lift will be far weaker
Is this true? What are other lifts you should never do at the same day?

>don't do 2 similar lifts
>You will get tired
Stupid. You can ohp and bench press on the same day and you will never run into problems.
if you're so out of shape that you can't do two lifts on the same day, you need to work harder
It has nothing to do with being in shape or not, it's that one can and probably will affect the performance of the other. I found that doing them on separate days helped me make gains in the lift I was always doing second.
not necessarily CNS overload, hell I'll do squat bench pullups on the same day
just sometimes after benching my shoulders can't really handle OHP
I split them up and ended up hitting 1/2pl8 fairly quickly after that
has nothing to do with
>CNS overload
its just that the muscle groups are relatively close to one another so you might get tired doing both on the same day and not be able to move as much weight
You can easily do 5x5 on one and then do the other for volume or high rep.
On push day I do flat bench, incline bench, and ohp. I switch up the order and barbell/dumbbell.
OP pic made me laugh out loud
bumping your thread just for that mate, I couldn't give less of a shit about your inane question. Use your head mate.
>CNS overload
You're literally hitting some of the same muscles and both exercises.
>You're literally hitting some of the same muscles and both exercises.
erm hes litterally not albeit
fricking kek kids now are afraid to make their muscles too tired
moron thats the whole point of working out
>i went to the gym and overused my muscles HOW WILL I EVER RECOVER
a new level of moronation indeed
It completely depends on how you train. If you're maxing out bench/doing triples at most it's probably not the best idea to also do high intensity OHP right after, because then yes your CNS will be fatigued.
If you do moderate volume for both it's fine. Be smart about it.
I bench, then I do OHP with dumbbells, seated, for higher volume (8-12 reps) and I have no issues. I train OHP heavy on another day, when I don't bench.
if you do bench and OHP on the same day you are genuinely certifiably moronic.
this is the worst programming a person could possibly dream up.
how do i know this to be true?
workout 1: do bench first, then OHP.
workout 2: do OHP first, then bench
if you are lifting hard, you will not physically be capable of maxing out whichever exercise you do second.
which means you cannot maximize the load on your muscles with this programming.
how fricking stupid are you people?
>how fricking stupid are you people?
Post body
Just do the second exercise as assistance lift, don’t tell me you bench/ohp only once per week or something
I do Bench and OHP same day because I work upper body a lot. Never had an issue doing one after the other
The way I see it, you can do both on the same day BUT just make one of them a slightly easier version and then alternate. Like regular bench first, some other exercise next, then behind the neck press or some other easier vertical pressing movement. Or close grip bench first, etc, then OHP
people itt are wrong, op
you won't be able to do both heavy
one of them will need to be deloaded else you risk snapping your shit
Here's some advice you should consider.
LIFT. JUST FRICKING LIFT HEAVY WEIGHT.
Is not cns overload but you will definitely be fatigued for the second lift but you can mix the volume you usually do for one.
If you do 5 sets of bench, you can do 3 sets of bench and 2 if ohp and increase the volume over time.
There are maybe 5 people on IST who can get cns fatigue from a bench press workout and you arent one of them
I'm getting overtraining from grippers all the time. Picking them up from table height helps with managing fatigue otherwise my lower back is fried for the week.
Depends on what you want to achieve. If you want a big bench and are only training OHP as assistance, sure, bench first. If you want a big The Press, doing bench first is going to be limiting. And no, not because of CNS. We're not talking about deadlifts here.
This is more or less true for any lifts, especially ones with overlapping muscles. Ever bench at the end of your arm/chest workout instead of the beginning? You can't get up the same amount of reps or weight than you could have had you did it at the front.
You can still do it, but don't expect to lift your max or hit any PRs.
Just dont expect to PR on the second lift or something
>CNS
Unless you're going for a serious 1RM youre not getting this to anything significant lifting to failure daily.
My shitty CNS already sharts itself every time I go to the gym regardless of my lifts, so I don't think it matters.
Whatever lift you do 2nd will be slightly weaker than if you did it first. You can still progressively overload both though so it doesn’t really matter.
You can also just alternate, bench 1st then ohp, then vice versa next time you do those lifts.
I do all my lifts every time I go to gym (3 times a week)
Have you not considered that you can go to the gym and do just one comma and then go to the gym a different day and do them both, and observe the difference in your strength? It might be very small or it might be significant, but the point is just try it homie
Guys, rate my split
Day A:
OHP
Deadlift
Squat
Benchpress
Day B:
Curls
Calves
xABABABx
moronic, just do pplpplx
Just did 110lbs OHP for 8 reps and skipped any bench pressing today
maybe OP is onto something
Why not just diversify your workout instead
One day do flat bench as main lift, then other bench press variations
Next day do overhead press as main lift, then other shoulder variations
