You're an absolute retard if you aren't training for strength

especially if your goal is to look good.

Let me ask you a couple of really simple questions:

1) are you going to get to a 2.5pl8 bench quicker following a meme bro split or a strength program?

2) who is most likely to be bigger? A guy repping 225x8 or a guy repping 185x8?

I have seen countless people who don't even look like they lift benching 185 for reps but I cannot remember ever seeing a guy repping 225 for sets of 8 who looked DYEL.

A 225x1 bench equates to about 185x8 and a 275x1 bench equates to about 225x8. There is a much better chance you'll look like you lift if you get to a 2.5pl8 bench opposed to a 2pl8 bench and it will take you much longer (if ever) to get to a 2.5pl8 bench following some meme push/pull or 5 day moron bro split

Post time stamp, should be easy if you look that good sport

Sure I'll take a shirtless timestamp pic just for you the moment you take a timestamped pic of any part of your body. You CAN do that, right?

Still ignoring the fact that hypertrophy gives u strength
Strength gives u hypertrophy but at a slower rate
It's a trade off and most people care about looking good not lifting big weights

Training in 8-12 rep ranges gives you strength much slower than training in 1-5 rep ranges and your muscles also grow when training in low rep ranges.

I got bigger after making All my working sets 5x3. The most strong and pathetic guy at my gym lifts like this. He doesn’t even train for aesthetics. His goal is to not only look strong but be strong. Dyel high rep cope.

5x5 or 3 never worked for me. I got most of my numbers from 3x10. Which is what got my OHP from 135 for 4 to 155 for 10 and all my rows looked a lot cleaner too.

You have terrible reading comprehension. You should do everything in your power to get to a 2.5pl8 bench and then lift in an 8-12 rep range - which would equate to around 225lb working sets

        Anonymous

        >You have terrible reading comprehension.
Or you do. When aesthetics bruhs say they're not interested in "training for strength," they mean stuff like 1RM training or 5x5 meme programs. They don't mean training for hypertrophy in a hypertrophy rep range with strength as a secondary outcome of progressive overload.

          See

Your moronic brain has you stuck on you thinking I am saying someone should only train for strength and never train for hypertrophy when I am saying you should be doing everything in your power to get to a 2.5pl8 bench so that, once you get there, you can begin training in 8-12 rep ranges using 225lbs.

Once again, someone benching 2pl8 for 8 is going to be much bigger than someone benching 185x8

as it applies to you as well

A lot of strength is just neurological adaption and becoming efficient at a lift.

I'd rather gain strength by getting bigger muscles.

      Anonymous

      >neurological adaptation
I.e. your body's ability to recruit maximum muscle fiber. Once again, who is recruiting more muscle fiber i.e. tearing down more muscle? The guy benching 185x8 or the guy benching 225x8?

        Anonymous

Nah if u think about it with hypertrophy you can go all out on a muscle and cause muscular damage and do that on another movement pattern while dealing with hypertrophy.
Strength on the other hand beats up your CNS too much to do that there's definitely a trade off of neurological and muscular damage being done

Also I forgot to mention I keep my bench at 220 for 10 which is a lot more in terms of 1rm and in terms of tonnage which is what drives hypertrophy and what should be accounted for in gaining size.
I also didn't see much gains when strength training and just looked like a DYEL homosexual.
Now that I'm actually doing hypertrophy work it's night and day, I am never going back

    I agree with OP

Whether you actually grow an aesthetic body or not is based on leanness (i.e diet) and genetics. Your parents decided when they fricked how your bodyparts were going to look when reasonably well hypertrophied at a sufficiently lean bodyweight. Period.

If natty, the best way to grow muscle is by getting strong. Yes, some people are genetically blessed and m ight get a body part or two to just blow up from meme exercises. But most of us are in the m iddle of the bell curve. And doing meme, bodybuilding machiens and hyperrophy exercises are NOT going to work for us.

We shaould all just train to get strong in the basic barbell lifts. The get/stay lean while getting stronger. We will either look aesthetic or not depending on our parent's. Period.

    But yeah. Pursue strength.
