Finasteride and 5AR reduce more than just DHT, like allopregnanolone, an important neurotransmitter, or dihydroprogesterone, also very important.

People that feel no difference on finasteride were mental cucks before so they claim there is no difference, but there is. Allopregnanolone even has immense potentional as an antidepressive medication, as it is depleted in that part of the population.

Yes I take finasteride. I am over 18 (past puberty) and am not trying to DHTmaxx

even a 70% drop in DHT (5mg/day finasteride) shouldn't cause you any problems.

You can't trust the science if you can't even understand it.

Its why he mentioned puberty. Those types say it doesn't do anything after puberty. Guess you're moronic.

              >>dht doesn't do anything
              thank you strawman
              steroid branch derived from DHT
yeah anavar behaves exactly like DHT right, not like it's a heavily modified androgen that is extremely anabolic and hardly androgenic, the exact opposite of DHT

Don't think you know what a strawman is. When you use the exact same "argument" as tons of other morons, dont get mad when someone points it out.

                >I am calling you out by making a strawman of the argument you’re not even making
                Stop skipping brain day
Unless you crash DHT to something super low like less than 10% it won’t do anything. Finasteride can’t crush DHT low enough for that to be a problem. To do that your need dutasteride, and a good amount of it too

                Anonymous

You mentioned puberty, meaning you subscribe to the notion that dht does nothing after puberty. Please if thats not it feel free to explain.

                Anonymous

The only time that super high DHT is important is during puberty. Any time after that the goal is to have DHT as low as possible without getting side effects

                Anonymous

Thank you for actually expanding. My thought, because its been the case for literally everything else science has previously said was vestigial or unneeded past a certain point, is that they just don't fully understand it yet and all evidence points to that. Whether you believe in some kind of creationism or naturalism shit just doesn't have energy/resources spent on it if it doesn't have a purpose, unless ofc theres a clinical problem.

Lets say your body naturally produces 100 units of DHT
At less than 10 units you start getting low DHT symptoms (low libido, etc.)
At above 80 units you get high DHT symptoms (hair follicle miniaturization, prostate hypertrophy, etc.)
So anything from 10-80 units is where you want to sit at
The body operates on thresholds, increasing or decreasing something by x% won't have the desired (or undesired in the case of side effects) unless it is being pushed over/below that threshold

      >Raises test that would be converted to DHT.
Also raises estrogen because there is more testosterone to aromatize.
      >Now Dht doesn't protect against the effects of estrogen.
      >Claims cope by saying DHT is not anabolic while it is a cns stimulant and hypertrophies type 2B fibers (the fibers that make you an explosive heavy man).

Testosterone- and DHEA-induced increases in both GLUT-4 expression and Akt and PKC-ζ/λ phosphorylations were blocked by a DHT inhibitor. Finally, the activities of phosphofructokinase and hexokinase, main glycolytic enzymes, were enhanced by testosterone or DHEA addition. These findings suggest that skeletal muscle is capable of synthesizing DHT from testosterone, and that DHT activates the glucose metabolism-related signaling pathway in skeletal muscle cells.

Administering the 5α-reductase inhibitor in resistance-trained OLETF rats resulted in suppression of the exercise-induced effects on skeletal muscle mass, fasting glucose level, insulin sensitivity index, and GLUT-4 signaling, with a decline in muscular DHT levels. These findings suggest that resistance training-induced elevation of muscular DHT levels may contribute to improvement of hyperglycemia and skeletal muscle hypertrophy in type 2 diabetic rats.

the androgenicity of testosterone for skeletal muscle performance is higher from T than DHT making Fin. superior to not taking it for gains actually anon.
all you did was show DHT affects muscles, which it does, but lacks perspective that T affects muscle more.

This is not true. Indirect and direct effects combined DHT is needed. Nature makes no mistakes. You can consider testosterone a "storage hormone" for DHT, even in muscles. It works, and after that it is quickly destroyed, not before.

I took a standard oral dose for almost two years before taking a month off and then switching to twice-weekly very-low-dose topical applications. Haven't lost any ground, and I had gained a lot. I didn't have any negative symptoms so I can't say if this resolved anything; I just wanted to minimize systemic DHT reduction since I'll be using for years to come. During this recent period I have been gaining muscle more easily but that's likely due to the creatine I started taking around the same time I switched.
