is there any proof moisturized does jack shit? I use tret and my skin is perfect, I doubt it will age any more without moisturizing (I do when le skin is dry from tret couple mornings a week)

My local public service did a pretty big thing on skin care a few years ago. They had people using various products on half their faces for a number of weeks and then did some tests/scans whatever and had them evaluated by medical professionals. The only thing that actually seemed to have any effect whatsoever was Nivea's basic moisturizer. Everything else is essentially snake oil.

            >exfoliator occasionally to remove dead skin
            >cleansers to clear paws
            >retinol and retinoids are proven to boost elastin in skin and remove wrinkles and fine lines
            >moisturiser helps stop skin from looking dry, also a layer of protection against pollutants
            >sunscreen to stops UVB rays that cause aging
            That's mine.

              >Nine randomized, double-blind, vehicle-controlled clinical trials were found. Four of these trials reported no statistically significant differences between the retinol-containing treatment and vehicle. The remaining five trials provide weak evidence for retinol potentially having a mild ameliorating effect on fine facial skin wrinkle lines only. However, these five trials showed major methodological flaws, which were critically analyzed in this review, calling into question the validity of any positive results.
I can't imagine anything more feminine than believing in skin care.

Cleanser and moisturizer seem like the only things that work tbh. Sun screen also has its uses, but shouldn't be utilized everyday. It's like gym supplements. All you really need is protein powder, a multivitamin, creatine, and omega D3 - everything else is optional.

Give me the rundown on Tretinoin. I just looked it up and see that's it's a synthetic and stronger alternative to retinol.

Fricks up your liver, makes your skin thinner and weaker with prolonged use. Don’t use without a prescription because the doctor will also require you to get your enzymes checked every 6 months or so

This is a lie. It increases the cell turn over as well as collagen production, the dermal layer of your skin gets thicker but you lose some of the “protective dead” layer of keratinized cells on top. There’s also no evidence of it going systemic and no doctor makes you check your enzymes for topical. You might be getting it mixed up with steroid creams and/or accuraine (oral form). It’s also not new at all it’s been used for decades and is very well studied.

What is your opinion on mineral vs chemical sunscreen?

I haven’t seen convincing evidence that chemical sunscreens have any real systemic effects. Mineral sunscreens are theoretically safer but kind of a pain in the ass. The best method is probably a combination of both- I use a Japanese sunscreen called skin aqua uv super moisture milk (blue bottle) gives great protection and dries clear.

moisturiser literally just prevents your skin drying out.
keeping it softer, more supple and less prone to inflammation/irritation.

literally eat butter and other healthy animal fats,
skin care comes from the inside, not the outside
keep the skin flora healthy and alive,
    >like don't put alcohol based products and never ever apply sunscreen that contains metals
use simple soaps, with the fewest ingredients, olive oil soap works best
