yes
you are supposed to use them for squatting too, so you can actually train and improve ankle mobility
elevated heels are only for cucks with bitch weak ankles so they try cheating and skipping the mobility part
Unless you're putting your feet in stirrups elevated heels are always a determent, unless you're a gay noble during the middle ages then narrow toe boxes are always a determent
probably to make it easier in terms of leverage for the sport of weight lifting, I'm just talking about the health of your feet, tendons, ligaments and joints in general because to me that is fitness
It's just a competition thing
Some powerfats trains mobility, some don't
Elevated heels put them into some more of a equal ground
But for the average recreational lifter, elevated heels does more harm than good
They are much much better to squat upright in, knees get more over toes allowing hips to be closer to ankles and torso to be more upright
They are sport equipment specifically designed for this
A not-insignificant amount of people have an equinus foot type, which often causes a bony block that prevents proper ankle dorsiflexion ROM. These people will always need an elevated heel to front squat properly.
t. podiatrist
I'll also add that if you stretch the ankle past a certain point and feel a tightness or block in the anterior ankle joint, but not tightness in the calf/Achilles, this applies to you. You rolled snake eyes on your ankle morphology lol.
>podiatrist
From seeing the type of people taking medical courses I don't trust any doctor, seems like half of them are retarded yet still pass. Its like growing up and realizing your parents are actually very retarded in most ways, your doctors become peers and you then realize your peers are just as retarded as the average person, just with a bit more training which they don't seem to take very seriously unless they're a surgeon.
Squat and deadlift barefoot. The next best thing is a solid flat rubber sole. Cushion and anything that puts your feet in an unnatural position aren't doing you any good.
>Cushion and anything that puts your feet in an unnatural position aren't doing you any good
doesn't mean they're necessarily bad, does it? I squat and dl fine with an old pair of asics running shoes
all i can tell you is that when you actually start lifting heavy, the injury risk is going to increase exponentially too
a millimeter of imbalance caused by the cushioning is enough to send you to vegetable city, especially if that shit breaks apart on you
>Barefoot
My gym catches me doing that its going to tell me to put shoes on. >hurr go to a powerlifter gym >durr buy your own weights and racks
No gay my gym is within walking distance. I am not going to make shit unnecessarily hard on myself.
That's why the second option to barefoot is minimalist you illiterate retard. Get something like
https://i.imgur.com/MEaLeyf.jpg
I wear these for lifting, no cushioning, 26 bucks from china town. Sole isn't fully flat though but it actually feels more like walking barefoot than something like vans or chucks and it doesn't seem to be a problem anyway if you're standing on both legs, plenty stable.

Lmao ive never ever slipped. Your feet shouldn't get so sweaty that you're making puddles underneath them. Also since they are exposed there is good airflow to keep them cool and not sweaty
Is this just a fucking meme? I tried one that I (thought) would work well and I got a fuck ton of blisters from jogging. Primarily on my toes and upper soles closest to my toes.
>and you can get last year’s perfectly good shoes for $80 or less.
Can't I do that right now with 2021's version of the current 2022 spring/summer shoes? point me in the right direction?
Amazon is probably your best bet. Or maybe Zappos.

I'll check it out. Honestly I just hated the fact I had a ton of blisters once I started jogging, I've never had foot issues before. I was able to heal my feet with creams but now I'm hesitating to start running again. Is the shoe selection really the only thing that makes the difference in not getting blisters? or is there other things I should be taking into account?

You should make sure you have non-retarded socks and your shoes fit you well. If your socks do not slip on your foot skin and your shoes do not have loose areas that slip over your socked foot, you probably will avoid blistering

Or if you have a local specialty running shop, check their outlet deals.
Google search the shoe you want and hit the shopping tab. Scroll til you find good deals. Easy mode is go to Running Warehouse, since they seem to have perpetual sale prices.
>using cushioned soles for running
Just use tennis shoes for everything.
Elevated heels for squats is for immobile americans who can't pop a squat for resting and shit
(I'm american, I'm just not an immobile fuck)
Oh, I forgot they produce weird tennis shoes now too.
Just, like chuck taylors, flat, low ankle, no padding/minimal padding, cotton fabric top, easy to bend in half. All the shoes on the market today just seem like a bunch of bullshit. Like the "nonstick" pans of the shoe world. Just get yourself a stainless steel pan, why do you need a fucking non stick shitty coated shitty metal mixture pan? Why do I need a curved 30 degree super laced tm piece of shoe crap.
Those elevated ankles and overly padded rigid shoes are shit for your ankles long term. Everything we do here is fucking retarded, can't squat down to sit like "slav" or "asian squat" because everyone sits on a chair, nobody sits on the floor anymore, nobody pops squats to hang out. American homes are so accessible most people end up becoming rigid fat immobile bodies that can't bend down further than chair height, and can't sit up, hell some can't even climb up stairs, we just fucking sit down majority of our lives, drive everywhere, japanese sit on the floor, pop squats, use stairs often, walk a bunch, not americans. I fucking hate how immobile americans are, if I were to ever design a house, all my chairs would be seat cushions, tables asian and on the floor, my bed? Thats up a ladder on the second floor, to even get to my living room you have to walk up a flight of stairs, I hate everyone here, fuck the fat and disabled. You have to jump across a river on stones to make it to my house. I don't want to even speak to immobile cripples that are americans. You have to monkeybar across a death pit to get here. It'll be like those wizard towers in elden scrolls, you have to be smart enough to know the fly spell, except, you have to be fit enough to not fucking die doing basic shit like squatting, walking, jumping, or climbing up simple ladders. If you can't you're not worth talking to.
I have pair of Xero Trail sandals and I love them. In fact the first pair I ordered had a frayed strap where some stitching had come out as soon as I started wearing them and they send me another pair as a replacement so now I have two perfectly good pairs for the price of one. Sometimes dodgy construction pays off.
I squat in Asics, they are technically running shoes but I use these specific ones solely to lift and walk in. IMO, lifting shoes are indeed a huge meme. I'm repping 250 atm just fine.
Recently copped some Brooks Revel 6 for something with a little more support fpr long-distance walking. Otherwise I wear Feiyues for all my lifting and everyday life.
Does noone buy metcons? I got some metcon 6 for 60$ and enjoy them and recently bought some metcon 7s at the outlets and honestly I enjoy the fuck out of them. The 7s have like a olympic style heel that's strong as fuck and doesn't move.
It doesn’t matter. Deadlifting in normal shoes is basically like doing a deficit deadlift, which is why powerlifters always deadlift in the thinnest shoes possible.
I imagine barefoot is best, but assuming you arent willing to do that then something like Chuck Taylors are probably the next best choice, basically flat and not over engineered, originally for sports.
Ignore retards who say thin/flat soles or barefoot for cardio. There's are some very good reasons that runners moved to cushioned shoes and basketball players no longer wear chucks.
I wear these for lifting, no cushioning, 26 bucks from china town. Sole isn't fully flat though but it actually feels more like walking barefoot than something like vans or chucks and it doesn't seem to be a problem anyway if you're standing on both legs, plenty stable.
You can deadlift in squat shoes it's not a big deal. You're not a competitive athlete so those few mm's don't make any fucking difference and it saves you buying/carrying around a new pair of gym appropriate shoes
used barefoot shoes for a year now and i am a bit dissapointed because they are still not wide enough for my toes to splay properly which i find weird since my feet doesnt look wide at all
I don't think so. I only wear mine while I lift, and wear normal shoes (vans, chucks, toms) for everything else. I have no problem letting my toes spread out when I wear the barefoot ones, and when I first put normal shoes back on, I can feel the pressure around my toes as they get pushed back, but I quickly get used to wearing them again, too.
is it true that if your height is 49% or more from legs, normal back squatting might be a shit idea? i always fuck my lower back up slightly from them even tho my range of motion in my legs is fine. im 54% legs baby
I wish I had normal feet. Their width is 6E. I'm 26 and have been wearing the same shoes since 7th grade because I can't find any that fit me and don't look absolutely retarded.
yes
you are supposed to use them for squatting too, so you can actually train and improve ankle mobility
elevated heels are only for cucks with bitch weak ankles so they try cheating and skipping the mobility part
Snatchlets always out themselves immediately when weightlifting shoes come up.
Cope, I can squat ATG barefoot without any problems but I still use weightlifting shoes for more quad bias.
have a nice day moron

seething fats + 1 liar
Wouldn't elevated heels be a detriment? I have a hard time picturing myself squatting comfortable with elevated heels. That is just strange.
Unless you're putting your feet in stirrups elevated heels are always a determent, unless you're a gay noble during the middle ages then narrow toe boxes are always a determent
>elevated heels are always a determent
Then why do these squat specific shoes have raised heels?
probably to make it easier in terms of leverage for the sport of weight lifting, I'm just talking about the health of your feet, tendons, ligaments and joints in general because to me that is fitness

barefeet for everything

get some vivos at the very least
For me it's Joe Nimble
I have barefoot shoes from Xero. Great for grip.
I squat in vibrams. They are awesome and helped me add 20 lbs to my squat
It doesn't really coubt as adding to the squat if your shoes are 10lbs each, anon.
Vibram Five fingers weigh next to nothing. They feel like you're barefoot
for home gyms sure
for external gym you'd be crazy to walk barefoot on that disgusting sweat fungi ridden place, so you go flat shoes
Firm and flat is what matters.
I prefer barefoot, but sometimes wear my old mountain bike shoes that are firm and flat.
>falling for the shoe joe
Barefoot/minimalist or firm and flat. Cushioning, arch support, raised heel are all bad for your body.
>Barefoot

You fight in heavy boots?

i lift in socks
id lift with no shoes but its not allowed at my gym
not sure why socks make it ok but i dont really mind

I do all my lifts in socks. Haven't had a problem. Even squat atg
>feet get sweaty
>slip into a one way bus to snap city
bare feet covered in chalk, no other way

Saucony Ride if you’re looking for a good all-around neutral trainer with a firmer feel compared to Hoka.

Yeah, Chucks or Vans work just fine for lifting I agree.
some deck shoes (sailing) would also work because they are similar
being immobile at age 50 is simply normal, not a cultural phenomenon or a result of our own actions
>being immobile at age 50 is simply normal
no
Cushioned soles are for retards, get xero shoes or something similar
I use the Xero HFS. Just sucks they’re so expensive but I will say they’re very durable.

Are squat shoes a meme? I’ve been eyeing getting a pair of Adiapowers
I have those and love them, not a meme
I have those but I rather squat barefoot. I hit 180kg a few weeks ago in my socks.
I have the Nike romaleos, best shoe I ever wore. Squat shoes are one of the only non-meme pieces of gym equipment
love my orange adipowers.i also use them for my oly lifts.
I squat in Asics, they are technically running shoes but I use these specific ones solely to lift and walk in. IMO, lifting shoes are indeed a huge meme. I'm repping 250 atm just fine.

imo vans tend to last longer and have a bit more cushioning
At BJJ we wear sandals because we take off our shoes while on the mat
