Are you talking about clean and press? What's wrong with clean and press?
I recently got myself up to two 45 plates on the clean and press and do 3 sets of 5. I think it's a great all around exercise that builds explosive strength in the clean as well as helps develop upper body strength in a way that is usable and practical.
Haven't had problems with injuries on the clean, I did hurt myself doing squats before so I've moved on to the clean and press, dead lifts and bench. Then I do some other stuff like using the leg press and doing tire flips to try and make up for the fact I don't squat anymore.
Less muscles hit = better for muscle growth. Powerlifting is a meme. Hypertrophy is king. Powerlifting isn't ideal for hypertrophy
Hypertrophy is good if you wanna bodybuild. Powerlifting is good if your goals are strength. Everyone has strong and weak points and maybe enjoy different training routines.

I realized they were a meme 10 years ago after snapping my spine. These type of injuries never heal. I still have issues and it may snap again if I'm not careful lifting something or trying to clip my toenails. I can't sit for long periods of time either, I'll end up hobbling the rest of the day.

I'm in my 30s and do manual labor and still have a pain free back mostly thanks to deadlifts
Have had 12+ herniated discs, probably the same 1-2 discs popping out about every year. Once they popped out the first time they just keeps shitting themselves out if I dont keep strict form doing bs like taking the trash out. Only 2-4 times has it happened while lifting. Those were the initial injuries and the minor ones likely keep happening because of them all those years ago.
There's a reason you never see older guys in the gym doing squats and deadlift. It's all younger dudes that haven't learned yet. Squat isn't that safe either, but safer than deadlift for sure. My first trip to snap city was with squats.

deadlifts helped my upper back and posture. i dont have pain from bad posture anymore like i used to. i dont even do heavy deadlifts. people laugh at my DL weight, and probably warm up with more - 225lbs 3x6 today. i will probably end up at around 315 next year and wont ever do PR or go for that one more

Like what? I don't disagree at all actually, there are no must-do exercises. You don't *have* to do deadlifts, but you DO have to do some kind of hip hinge. Movement patterns are necessary, specific exercises are not. I just don't think deadlifts are inherently dangerous at all, just don't be a moron and you'll be alright.

Rows (more upper back since aforementioned hinges aren't going to be as good for upper back development compared to deadlifts)

Here's an example. I bench press with dumbbells. If there's ever a time where I'm fricked and can't properly get back up (for instance with decline bench presses), worst case scenario I can drop the weights to the side. Hasn't happened to me, but the option is there. I have 0 actual risk of destroying my body. There's also basically 0 risk of having bad form even when reaching failure. I won't leave myself paraplegic if I frick up. Deadlifts on the other hand can destroy your disks and leave you fricked for life. Even the pros frick up their form sometimes and all it takes is that one time to frick you for life.

Deadlifts are easy to overload and hurt yourself on, same can be said with benching and squatting, but with deadlifts you can pull a lot of weight with shitty form if you’re determined, which is what a lot of people do

It’s all because of powerlifting tards putting too much weight on the bar and hurting themselves because they can’t actually lift the weight without putting their body under a self-destructing amount of stress
But instead of people saying “wow these people are stupid and are going to severely injure themselves by doing such heavy exercises so recklessly” they say “it’s the exercise that hurt him, this specific exercise is inherently dangerous and no one should do it”
I think the biggest issue with the dead or squat for that matter is people always give advice like "You should work up to your body weight in such a such a time"
People end up early in this situation where they feel like they gotta lift more and more and they need to progress to a not a pussy weight. Then they keep going up and up and it ends up fricking them.
I've already fricked my back but if I could do it again I would but instead of only taking 6 months or so of practice before I started trying to max my liftable weight I'd take like 2-3 years of lifting like a pussy and just focusing on getting consistent form and the ability to do at least 5x10 sets.
Unless you are an athlete and need to be the best, taking years to learn it properly will be worth it.
