No. The conventional deadlift is a dog shit exercise overall for muscle gain, due to the knee flexion component limiting tension production in the hamstrings as they cannot sufficiently lengthen
Then you're not training for hypertrophy. The conventional and sumo deadlift are the worst exercises for hypertrophy. If you are serious about putting on as much muscle as quick as possible, I would highly recommed removing the deadlift fom you program.
The exercise doesn't take any muscle through any meaingful range of motion thus not exposing the musculature to an adequate amount of tension or recruting sufficient amount of motor units across the given tissue to provide a robust hypertrophic stimulus. This makes the stimulus to fatigue ratio per repetition poor, so little stimulus to the amount of fatigue produced. I would recommend RDL variants and SLDLs for hamstring, glute and erector hypertrophy instead.
You sound right but you also sound like a gay. Fact disregarded
While I see the merit of your statements, I do conventional deads right before doing sldls and rdls as a sort of warmup for them it it seems to work pretty well. Gonna stick with it, though I will agree that the cult of heavy deads and heavy squats often willfully ignores the high injury potential for either.
>The exercise doesn't take any muscle through any meaingful range of motion
Literally puts the hip through all its range of motion. That's glutes and one of the hamstrings.
First of all the hip is a joint, second of all the flexion present at the knee joint inhibits sufficient lengthening of the hamstring and glutes like I’ve written previously
But farmers walk is gay as shit and I ain't walking around the gym like a retard carrying dumbbells when I can just load up plates on a barbell and mog my entire commercial gym.
Yeah, this is retarded. I was a muh hypertrophy fag when I started then I quickly realized how important having a strength base is and why people tell you to never skip the big 4.
Maybe if you've been lifting for 5 years and is experienced enough you can drop it since ur isolation exercises is already at a good level, but lifting heavy ass Deadlifts helped me do progressive overload on every other exercise.
Every other weight became obsolete compared to my DL, not sure what really happened but it must've helped with some hidden muscles I had no idea were weaker.
Also, don't fall for the meme of "don't Deadlift if you have back problems", I had mild scoliosis and it bulletproofed my back while getting rid of my back pain, that shit will turn ur lower back into granite.
No. The conventional deadlift is a dog shit exercise overall for muscle gain, due to the knee flexion component limiting tension production in the hamstrings as they cannot sufficiently lengthen
I'm new to lifting (been lifting since November) and I have never done a deadlift. I hate how the movement feels. I think I am doing decent without them but I know I'm missing out so I'm working on doing them but I just hate it so much.
You're retarded
Hormone production is the core of strength and size gains
Controlled CNS taxation through heavy lifting, along with a high fat, moderate protein, moderate carb diet at a caloric surplus trains the body to create more testosterone as that's the only way for the body to increase CNS recovery
People who talk about hypertrophy like this think they can get huge doing machine isolations only and then claim they have bad genetics when they don't make it or, even worse, resort to steroids and then they're shit training develops their muscles horribly
Why come on a training forum and post when you have no idea what you're talking about?
The "big compounds" do cause acute testosterone spikes but it does ZERO to increase overall (or even localized) muscle mass. There is no type of training that increases testosterone levels.

Incorrect. You're not aware of what's achievable with proper hypertrophy-focused resistance training because you've never done it.

deadlifts are literally the only thing I do for legs, I do variations though, i.e both conventional and hex bar, and both the low and high handle depending on how my back feels.
What's a good lift for legs to replace deadlifts? I don't like lunges either, I've just been doing extensions instead of deadlifting for a while now, but I also want something to engage my ass. Do I need to hip thrust like a woman?
I'm new to lifting (been lifting since November) and I have never done a deadlift. I hate how the movement feels. I think I am doing decent without them but I know I'm missing out so I'm working on doing them but I just hate it so much.
Weird, maybe you're too tall. They're my favorite lift and it fixed my lower back pain.
I didn't Deadlift for 1 month when I started and I'm new aswell, but then I started doing it and it's really good, I was plateauing and it feels like DLs just unlocked hidden gains I missed on, I'm at 2plmao8 still.
I'm the only one who Deadlifts at my gym aswell so everytime I do it I get mired.
No I'm a 5'7 manlet. I just hate that I have to bend over but like bend over in a specific way or whatever. It feels pretty lame too, picking something up from the floor isnt really exciting
unironically yes. When I squat its like I'm being crushed and I'm fighting against gravity. ohp is literally the manliest lift and pullups makes me feel like a monkey
I'm 5'6 and Deadlifts are my easiest lift and I was flying through progress, literally reached 2pl8 in like 2 weeks, will probably get 3pl8 next month, maybe is because I'm a manlet with large arms. >nothing exciting about picking up weight from the ground
It's heavy weight from the ground that nobody at my gym can pick it up, Chinups and Deadlifts are the my favorite 2, you just mog everyone into oblivion and when they see a skinny manlet picking heavy shit they can't believe what they just saw.
Yeah I guess it'd be fun to use manlet leverages to lift heavy. Even if I don't like them now I'll probably gaslight myself into liking them for the gains

This. They're really fun to do but they basically turn me into a vegetable for an entire day.
I mostly do GHRs for hamstrings + glutes and call it a day.
I do but I only do 3 sets of conventional (or sometimes sumo when conv feels stale) per week because I really hate deadlift a lot. Not an enjoyable exercise for me at all, only do it for the benefits.
What’s your point?
Completely retarded dyel poster. The amount of muscles activated in a specific lift literally doesn’t tell you anything about how well you’re training the specific muscles.
The only thing you’re doing is bringing up a good point as to why the deadlift is a poor choice for hypertrophy. Having a ton of muscles involved and a higher degree of complexity in a movement means you’re going to have less overall motor unit recruitment for whatever target muscle you’re trying to work
This is why highly stable movements that allow you to focus on the target tissue are ideal since you don’t have an unlimited amount of motor units you can recruit
>Ask about retarded exercise >Surprised when replies are also retarded
You just need bench/OHP/squat, literally just do pull ups/rows/hypers for back. Deadlift is a 0 reward exercise.
I've never been able to conventional deadlift well. Most I can do is probably 225, and even then I dont think my form is great. Sumo has always been more comfortable and I can pull a lot more weight and feel like my form is good the entire time. I have long legs proportional to my torso and arms. Should I just give up on conventional?
bro you gay af
t. cant pull 7pl8s
you are a homosexual
bro, that's 5.5pl8
675lbs is 7pl8 u dumb nig
7pl8=815/370
is math that hard for morons?
>t. seething beta white shirt in the back
No. The conventional deadlift is a dog shit exercise overall for muscle gain, due to the knee flexion component limiting tension production in the hamstrings as they cannot sufficiently lengthen
im a hypertrophyfag and i still deadlift because its amazing doing it you dyel
Then you're not training for hypertrophy. The conventional and sumo deadlift are the worst exercises for hypertrophy. If you are serious about putting on as much muscle as quick as possible, I would highly recommed removing the deadlift fom you program.

Literally puts the hip through all its range of motion. That's glutes and one of the hamstrings.
Ah, yes the well-known "hip-muscle"
First of all the hip is a joint, second of all the flexion present at the knee joint inhibits sufficient lengthening of the hamstring and glutes like I’ve written previously
holy fuck, figgys gyno is really bad.
based, nobody gives a fuck about your deadlift, only how you look.
>not exposing the musculature to an adequate amount of tension
this meme is so retarded, deadlifts doubled my forearms size
post your massive forearms built soley by deadlifts
t. forearmlet
Unlikely. Doing a farmers carry would have doubled your forearms though if you do the heavy weight versions with a frame or trap bar.
But farmers walk is gay as shit and I ain't walking around the gym like a retard carrying dumbbells when I can just load up plates on a barbell and mog my entire commercial gym.
>this low rep lift doesn't stimulate your muscles!
>it's fatiguing!
Pick one, dipshit.
Fatigue doesn't cause muscle growth. Mechanical tension causes muscle growth.
Please learn the most basic shit before replying.

Anyone that does anything like this in a gym should be immediately ejected and banned.
Why is it called deadlift anyway
The lift starts from a dead stop. Most lifts have a "bounce" to them.
because you die when you do it
i only do deadlifts for legs and nothing else
And greatly lacking in musculature in the quads and rectus femoris
good, quads are ugly.
