That looks like it functions more like an elliptical than a treadmill, and as far as I'm concerned, prisoners can be pretty fuckin jacked and are healthier than the general population. The Brits don't get any other brownie points though, this is one of the only good things they've ever done and it was by accident.

nah, it is never a good thing being a fat fuck, look at poor countries and see, the majority of the people there are either skeletons or just skinny fat from lack of meats.

Push ups were also a form of military punishment, yet they are good exercise, depends entirely on condition done in and mind set.

push ups are a retard exercise.
After 6 months in the Army you will plateau on pushups no matter how many more you do.

if you're still getting told to drop and do pushups after six months in the army, your military career has plateaued.

I think these treadmills provided kinetic power to machinery, really quite ingenious Victorians

    That article is so gay.
So what? The difference is I choose to use the treadmill, when it was used as a method of torture, that wasn't an option.

for entertainment. you might as well ask why we should care about what kinds of foods caesar's army ate were considered luxury due to scarcity when we can just go out and buy it in a few minutes

Giving someone water is torture if you waterboard them with it. Putting someone's dick in your mouth is torture if you bite it off. Slicing into someone is torture if you're not a trained surgeon doing a procedure.

To be fair, I run quite frequently, and I think the treadmill is torture. Not even joking, I can run for 10+ miles outside at a nice pace and enjoy it. Put me on a treadmill, same pace, listening to the same music/podcast/tv show/etc and I will be tired of that shit after 3 miles.
I can only guess it’s psychological that I am running and can see I’m not going anywhere that it just ruins me.

yeah because after you were done you'd be hiking 15 miles to get back to your fucking house to then wake up and then do another 20 mile hike to get to your manual labor job.

there should be government-mandated treadmill labor for fatties. The medical care they require is a drain on society, and they have a debt to repay. The treadmills could be used to power factories, grain mills, or any number of things. Make them pay what they owe
