How much weight can you/do you need to progress to? I'm at 8kg for sets of 8 or so. I can load it up to 12kg (nothing in between unless I do one arm at a time) and 12kg is too heavy. I'm 165cm 64kg.
The delts are the biggest muscle group in the upper body when actually used and regardless of the mechanical disadvantage you have to progress to progress.
One arm at time, telling you guys it's the way to do these. Still takes some time, took forever to get from 20 to 25.

have you noticed any increase in functionality, as in every day movements or lifting boxes or furniture, that you would not have without the strong delts? I'm legitimately curious because the side delt tends to be underdeveloped in most people and we may not notice the strength we lack

Hard to say since I devolved my arms and back at the same time, I can definitely say that holding anything up is much easier now, especially above my head.
Max dyel it was like my first week at the gym. I was doing 3 sets of 15, once I hit the 15th rep it was hard as frick and I kept pushing and fricked up something in my lower neck right side

What's the matter? Did you get your ego checked too hard? That's what I love about lateral raises, they put ego lifters in their place better than anything else.
Simple, don't fricking ego lift.

lmao what a DYEL PoS, never listen to advice from him if you know him in person, just don't do heavy ass lateral raises, start LIGHT!

heavy lateral raises are good but you should use a shorter range of motion and focus on activating the muscle
the drop set like a mother fricker and increase the ROM when you're able to maintain good form as you go lighter
Legitimately if you look at the physics, it's harder and more impressive for a 6'2" person to do this exercise with 15 lbs than it is for a 5'6" person to do it with 40.
Oh yes, because all those extra 40lbs are in muscles that I use in this exercise. Nothing in the legs, chest, arms, back, or core. Just 40 lbs of excess deltoids and traps in my 6'2" frame.
I really don't get manlets like you. You're constantly whining about how society always puts you down, how people think you're insecure, how women won't date you, etc., and then I come along and point out one small nice thing about being short, and they always freak out.
I don't need you to say nice things about me, and if I did I probably wouldn't appreciate you telling me that pushing heavy weight is less of an achievement for me.
Your delts have more volume and so much so that it offsets your leverage disadvantage. Hence why bigger people lift more weight, hence weight classes.
Keep coping.
It's internalized inadequacy. They get put down so much by the world at large, they've mentally psyched themselves out of achieving their own potential. When I tell a 5'2" short king that it's easier for him to bench 3 plates than for me to bench 2, I'm not trying to denigrate his lifts; I'm reminding him of his own potential and encouraging him to shoot for the stars.

Lateral raises directly to the side like that are bad for your shoulders, bring your arms forward at a 15 degree angle or so, bend your knees slightly, lean forward ever so slightly, brace your core, and THEN do your lateral raises. Like pic related
tense your belly muscles like you're about to get punched in the gut. make sure you can still breathe, don't just grunt and squeeze like you're trying to force out a stubborn turd.
don't forget to clench those buttcheeks, too.
You should incorporate partial lateral raises too. Use dumbbells that are too heavy to do a full lateral raise and do half raises. Will explode your delts
I've recently been getting a good mid/rear delt pump by following my lateral raises with a few sets of swinging up plates (the ones with handles cut into them) backwards in a circular motion until my arm is straight up above my head, then lowering straight back down, alternating sides, sort of like swimming. Can really feel it working the rear delt but I just use light (5kg) plates since I've already done lat raises. Feels good. Can feel it in the obliques too since I have to twist a bit.
Opinions? Probably looks moronic but as long as it doesn't snap my shit up I don't mind.
>lu raises
Just looked these up. It's similar but I do them one at a time and twist so the weight is moving almost directly behind my starting position. Never smashed myself with a plate though.
Just looked up the butterfly lats after typing all that and it's pretty much those but standing.
Picrel is unironically the best lateral delt isolation. It can be loaded like nothing else and is safe for the supraspinatus even if you have subacromial impingement. >inb4 machines are dyel
It's an isolation exercise, machines can be great for these.
Yes, I was exaggerating a bit. It would be for both of these and the leg press and extension machines. I wonder what it would cost to just get these in my garage.
What do you guys think about this guy's 1st and 3rd exercice? (Would just say the name of the exercice and not link the vid but they don't really have one). Enough for rear delts? Would you do both, one or the other, or simply none?

What's the secret to lateral raises?
I've been using a cable but I can only do the lowest weight. I do three sets of up to 12. Sometimes it feels like my shoulder pops
takes a ton of reps + time
main reason my shoulders/arms are huge is because i used to be a pro drummer
Do a super set of these:
Front raise
Lateral raise
Reverse fly
3*10
It's fun. Learned it from the buff dudes
if done like that, they mostly work the traps not the delts btw.
You need to slightly adjust it a bit (forward).
Whatsthe secret on properly isolating my delts on these? I always feel like my traps are doing 80% of the work
if you dumb Black folk actually paid attention and read these threads you wouldn't be asking these dumb fricking questions over and over
see my posts here
You can do what I wrote here
Just slightly forward (not front raises, just angle it a bit).
You can also lean your body to some kind of support and do the raise on the other side.
Bless this shit
>repping the entire stack instantaneously
Fuarrrrk I'm mirin
Should I do facepulls or these at the end of my workouts?
>both hit different group
moronic aren't you?
I don't have room for both, moronic, aren't you?
I've been grinding these frickers beyond failure for some months and my shoulders are really looking better.
Lateral raises directly to the side like that are bad for your shoulders, bring your arms forward at a 15 degree angle or so, bend your knees slightly, lean forward ever so slightly, brace your core, and THEN do your lateral raises. Like pic related
>brace your core
What does this actually mean?
>flex your abs
I've got a soft tummy, how do I do that?
FLEX YOUR ABS
fricking inhale air, b***h. You know how to breathe, right?
tense your belly muscles like you're about to get punched in the gut. make sure you can still breathe, don't just grunt and squeeze like you're trying to force out a stubborn turd.
don't forget to clench those buttcheeks, too.
You should incorporate partial lateral raises too. Use dumbbells that are too heavy to do a full lateral raise and do half raises. Will explode your delts
Isn't perfect form for this movement at a 70 degree angle? At 90, my rotator cuffs feel like they're about to snap. Also cable>DB
>is mogged by the upright cable row
Heh.. nothin personnel
Isn't OHP enough for shoulders?
wanna know how i know you're a dyel with zero rear delts?
because you're a dyel yourself?
hahaha yeah man that's DEFINITELY it
Do these one arm at a time while leaning off of something with your free hand, massive gains, don't say nobody told you.
if you do bent over laterals like that with one hand you can go super heavy too.
You don't need to do these you know.
cable side raises>dumbell side raises
>isolate delt throughout entire movement
>don't frick up your shoulder
I've recently been getting a good mid/rear delt pump by following my lateral raises with a few sets of swinging up plates (the ones with handles cut into them) backwards in a circular motion until my arm is straight up above my head, then lowering straight back down, alternating sides, sort of like swimming. Could also do butterfly laterals if you don't want to smash yourself with plates
>lu raises
Just looked these up. It's similar but I do them one at a time and twist so the weight is moving almost directly behind my starting position. Never smashed myself with a plate though.
Just looked up the butterfly lats after typing all that and it's pretty much those but standing.
I don't do them. I've adopted the "if it feels wrong or I don't like it, I stop" mentality and it's working out alright
What else do you like then? OHP?
Randy have a nice day you Black person
Picrel is unironically the best lateral delt isolation. It can be loaded like nothing else and is safe for the supraspinatus even if you have subacromial impingement.
