How do you deal with eating liver?

I know it's a really good source of nutrients and protein, but it tastes awful.

Is there some trick to integrate this stuff into my diet without it making me wanna hurl?

I cut it into small pieces and swallow them whole. Wish I knew a better way.

I do the same thing but I freeze them first so I can't taste it or feel the texture

Just take a multivitamin. Cheaper too

      >cheaper too

      Kinda doubt it.
Liver is like 10 bucks a pound.

Dessicated liver supplements are over $30 a bottle and if you take 4 supplements a day (the recommended serving) they last for literally one month
Also I'm not convinced that dessicated liver pills are anywhere near as effective as just eating liver

I've only ever had goose liver which was delicious and creamy. Other organ meats just stir fry with some veggies and make it spicy. The only organ I've had that I wouldn't eat again is brain.

Is the liver you buy laced with fricking gold or what? I can get steaks for less than that. I know liver has been getting more popular but I still don't see it above $4/lb.

Just eat it raw. It tastes better and if you don't like the taste it is easy to swallow raw liver whole without chewing.

Breaded and a quick fry makes it taste pretty good. Nobody traditionally just ripped it out and pan fried it because all the iron is disgusting. They'd soak it in milk to leach it out, but that's a waste of milk. Breaded makes it tolerable, like a richer tasting gizzard.

Stop overcooking it. You never want liver cooked anything above rare. Raw liver is sweet but the more you cook it the more bitter it gets.
Try to get good stuff, too, and avoid supermarket liver if you can.

      >Stop overcooking it.

      Wise advice.
People don't realise that Liver cooks extremely quickly. Once overcooked it produces a foul aftertaste.

    Remove the skin.
Fry it with onions(carrots too, maybe?) on high heat until it firms.
Add some liquid and simmer for another 20-30 minutes under the lid.

You can also gind it down and make pancakes.

But you probably don't want to eat it too often, while you can get sick from excessive doses of vit A, the more important thing is that it can affect the availability of other vitamins.

You destroyed most of the vitamins by overcooking it you moron.

For maximum nutrients absorption you eat it raw or simply sear it quick on each side.

There are no documented cases of anyone ever getting vitamin A toxicity solely from eating too much beef liver. The only cases of vitamin A toxicity come from supplements or polar bear liver.

I saw a instagram reel where the guy blended it, then mixed it with ground beef and made a chili.

Seemed really smart but I haven't tried yet. The last time I tried, I just couldn't take the texture... seemed weird, and I threw it out.

sautee an onion in butter. Put a 1/4" slice of liver on the pan with more butter. 2 minutes a side on medium heat. throw some salt on it.

If you want, you can put the liver in a bowl of milk for an hour or two before hand to leech out the liver flavor, but this is unnecessary imo.

This question has been posted 17830473 times, and the answer is always: cut it up into small pieces and eat it raw. Cooking makes it completely inedible, and you only need a small amount since liver is packed with nutrients. Treat it like a supplement.

does cooking it also lower the amount of nutrients?

I've been buying chicken liver because it's cheap as frick. And I like it. Cook with a bit of onions and garlic, very nice. Feel bad for people who don't like it.

    Rinse it off.
Fry up some mushrooms and onion in butter.
Coat the liver with flour mixed with salt and paprika.
Fry up the liver in medium hot pan with butter till it's 145° f.
Throw the mushrooms and onion back in to heat through. Serve with rice and any vegetable.
Sit on a BBC if you don't like it.

    serve it with onions.
A shitload of onions. cook at least 4x as much onion as you think you need and cook it for really long to caramelize it properly.
Then remove the onions and cook the liver in the same pan with some butter. and cook it for a really short time.

Serve with creamy mash potato and cracked black pepper

I just take a little chunk of liver and mix it in with my ground beef. Can’t even taste the liver at all.

First off, it tastes absurdly delicious. Especially pig's liver. Second: take some flour and mix in salt and pepper, roll the liver in the flower before frying. 4 hours before that, cut up like 2kg of onions into rings and put them in a pot over low heat with a lid on it, then let them slowly caramelize. One you start frying the liver, take the lid off and add cream. Once you're done frying the liver, deglaze the plan with the cream/onion sauce and pour it over the liver.

    1. Buy organic.
    2. Buy it mixed with lean & fat as ground beef. Or buy a meat grinder if you are housegay.

    10% liver
    10% fat
    70% lean
