Go back in time and make your mother a bipolar then get her hooked on booze
Move forward in time and make sure your dad isn't a b***h who accepts this
Have siblings who recognize how disgusting alcoholics are
Develop a hatred for people who are intoxicated in public, who aren't at a place filled with loved ones attending a gathering specifically for the consumption of alcohol.
Never drink past the age of 22 because you don't like it.

    Works every time.

Just set an amount you are allowed drink and days for when you can drink. I drink Tuesday and Fridays. Three pints of beer each time. Works for me

      Its relaxing

I haven't had a drink since December. I was spending too much money and struggling at the gym. A year earlier my dad was in end stage liver failure with a MELD score of 32.

I quit cold turkey and suffered minor withdrawal symptoms. Overall, my stress tolerance has increased and I am in much better shape. Mental health has improved and so has gym habits. I've lost 35lb.

I miss whiskey and beer and one day I will drink again, but not today . Don't be a weak homosexual. Lesser morons have quit worse.

If you drink everyday for months on end and it affects your life negatively you probably are an alcoholic imo. Just not as bad off as (you). Either way learning to drink in moderation is the end goal since never drinking ever again is an unrealistic goal if you look at the statistics.

I stopped drinking about six months ago. The first thing I did was to get rid of any alcohol I had. I asked a nephew to stay with me for a couple of nights in case I wanted to get drunk. Those nights I couldn’t sleep but it got better.

Depending on the severity of your alcoholism it can be easier or harder. What I did was to replace my drinking with something close to what I used to drink but without alcohol. I usually started to drink at 6pm, so instead of preparing myself my usual whiskey with mineral water and apple soda I skipped the whiskey. You need to do mostly the same you did but without alcohol.

If I have a strong desire to drink I start remembering the hangovers, the stupid drunk discussions, the stupid things I did because I was drunk, the things I’ve missed for being drunk or hungover.

It’s not easy, but your body will thank you. No more restless nights, no more missed or bad workouts because you drank, no more remorse because you acted stupid when you were drunk, you will have more money and your health will improve.

Also another thing that is recommend to do is to remember when you were a kid. You didn’t drank then and still you could enjoy a party or being with your friends, why then is alcohol necessary to enjoy such things?

I hope you can do it, it’s hard but not impossible. Relapses can happen but do not overthink it. Like a missed rep, you simply adjust and go back to the gym and try again.

I have the opposite problem. When I got out drinking, I'm the luckiest guy on planet earth. I can say anything I want to any girl and it works. I can go to casino and I'll walk out hundreds of dollars ahead. When I'm not buzzed, I'm like a complete loser or something, and somehow do more regrettable things as well. I think there might just be a sweet spot of drinking the right amount, but being able to not drink a few days during the week and keeping your bac at the right rate when you are.

oh, dont get e wrong, drinking was fun for me too when i was around 17-24 or something like that, after that idk what happened. perhaps i got older or perhaps the alcohol or other drugs i was taking fricked something up and 2 pints just didnt do it anymore. it became to the death everytime, still regret that time deeply and you learn the lesson eventualy - the easy way or the hard way.
One of my friends (drinking pals) was not so lucky. know him for a solid 10 years and we passed the army together (russia), so even family knew him sort of. Anyways whilst i kinda addressed my problems, he just continued deeper and deeper into the bottle and yeah sure you can say im a "shit friend" or whatever but at the end of the day theres really nothing you can do beyond just propagandising your view to them, its still their choice at the end of the day. even if you would lock them up to detox, next day free theyd be drowning in liquor even harder.
anyways, long story short he somehow got acquainted with 2 buttholes who got him blackout drunk, killed a person, dumped him on the street together with the body and called the police pinning it all on him.
Ofcourse the court decided intoxication is not a defense and by that time even if you ask him himself, he wouldnt be able to tell you wether hed done it or not as his memory was totally wiped from the alcohol (he was also stupid in the morning after as he basicly GAVE the confession to the cops as he couldnt think clearly from the hangover). shame what an actually timid and good hearted person he was, but he was always bullied and in the army also. the sad thing is i used to visit him on "dates" in prison, but now i cant even do that because the moment i step foot in that country il be drafted to kill too.
Wish that would have been my wake up call but i still kept drinking. One day something just happens and one way or another you just stop.

You need to find the reason for your drinking. I drank for 10 years until I met a competent doctor who recognized my symptoms as ADHD. Got diagnosis and one vyvanse just vanished my symptoms and my desire to drink. One goddamn pill, been sober for 4 years now.
I drank only to get buzzed to calm myself down a bit like the meds do.

Get to the root of the drinking, there's always a reason and you can fix it.
Incidentally once I got help, I went to school and became a nurse and now I work with alcoholics/substance abuser.

If you drink a LOT and genuinely cannot go a day without drink before you get the shakes, get help from a doctor so you get meds to counter possible issues. If this is not possible then you must taper off but this is hard, though this the only way to do it safely on your own without drugs and if you cannot get access to healthcare for whatever reason.

I watched my 35 year old sister drink herself to death. I was with her during her last days. I’ll never forget how yellow she was.

She almost died prior to that too from the same thing, but miraculously recovered. A few sober years later her ducking doctor told her that a drink once a while was ok.

    >told an alcoholic it was ok to drink a little.
    >starts drinking again and dies from no self control.

I stopped drinking forever after that.

Absolute truth. I have never loved alcohol, but the last time I touched a drop was months ago, and the guy I was with (mentioned above) got so drunk he turned into an ugly, cruel Mr Hyde. Haven't wanted it at all since.

That's not even remotely how it works. The naltrexone makes it so you don't get a buzz from the alcohol and just get the motor and equilibrium effects.
Once your body understands that you're poisoning yourself because it is no longer getting that endorphin rush, because of the naltrexone, you don't have cravings for it anymore.

they the "shitface" method, don't drink all week expect one day, but that one day make sure you drink to the point of puking, you have to puke.

If you feel powerless against alcohol, then you can overpower it with more alcohol. in couple of weeks your body is gonna start associating alcohol with poison and it will naturally reject it.

I've quit alcohol several times in my life, but finally stuck to it this year. I'm currently 8 months sober and will never touch a drink again. What helped me? Over the years I realized how much I relied on it in order to have fun or be social. I remembered not needing any substances to enjoy life when I was a kid and I was pretty happy then, so why should i partake in alcohol now?

After these thoughts, I then stumbled across the Andrew Huberman episode on alcohol where he talked about the affects of alcohol, even on the days you're NOT drinking. I said goodbye to alcohol after watching that. I still crave it every now and then, but having self-discipline along with remembering all the benefits of not drinking keep me away form that shit. No anxiety, better sleep, better focus, improved memory, and more energy, etc.

I became disgusted with myself when I saw how bloated my face looked, how shitty I felt every morning, how I had a growing gut, how I felt dumber and dumber as time wore on, and seeing severe alcoholics struggle through their lives. Disgust is the most powerful motivator for quitting bad habits. You need to put that shitty habit beneath you, rather than treating it as some mountain you need to climb. Find something to occupy yourself with when you get cravings, and those cravings will disappear.

The easiest way is to ho cold turkey, unless you're really addicted and cold turkey will kill you, in which case, you need to get medical help

As other anon said, get rid off all the alcohol in your house and do it today. If you delay, your more likely to talk yourself our of it

Remember addiction is driven in part by environment, its why shaming fatties often doesn't work (to IST's annoyance), in reality, as long as its easily accessible, people will remain tempted to consume.

In a sense, you're treating the part of you that gets tempted like a child. You have to insulate it from temptations, safe guard it. You do this by hiding the bleach from reach, or in this case, putting the alcohol in the bin and then emptying the bin.

Be stringent about what gets brought into your house too. Ask friends to bring soda for game night, on the weekend, ask if you can go bowling instead of to the pub. There's less pressure to drink and the environment is different there. Be up front with friends and Co workers too. Admitting your addicted and stopping may well sound weak in your head

But depending what kind of drunk you are, some may barely tolerate you at this point, so they will earnestly support you. Others will support you because they want you to live a good life. Embrace support and don't be ashamed. Real men don't wince from their feelings or weaknesses, it's just another mountain to be conquered

I drank cause everyone around me did, started at 14 stopped social drinking at 28. I was without motivation and purpose in general. You dont have something you choose to want. Not what society tells you what to want, but your own thing you want for yourself. If you truely want what ever it is, then you can leave everything else behind.

The issue is,what is worth it to you. Before that you gotta figure yourself out. What hills your willing to die on. What guides your own moral compass? What are your principals? Again, not based on society's ideals, but your own choice.

If you need a starting point with no strings attached such as religion and nearly unknown, read the Gor saga. The first 6 books should be enough to teach anyone about males and females. A code to live by with logical reasoning. Dont join the cringe sex cults of ugly betas, or easy pussy from those girls. Along with that it will also show that life is simpler then what the world is pretending what it is to be. The warriors code is pretty solid.

If you can die, alone and happy of what you choose to want and go after, then nothing else will mater.

Liver damage effects SHBG. without it your T levels are fricked, lots of free T and your body thinks its high level T, so it dumps. Also it dumps out your piss cause its unbound. Negative loop leads to self chemical castration. Low T, no sperm etc...

I have a lot of control with money/spending and budgeting. How I quit more than one addiction was with phasing it out of my budgets.

Used it to replace my wardrobe and shoes one thing at a time. Like first month $30 off my alcohol budget which became two pairs of niceish slacks. Second month was $45 which was a couple hoodies and some socks. 3rd month i think was $60 shows underwear washcloths because i just wanted some and some generic electric toothbrush heads. I pretty much just drink paul masson vsop in pints and can get drunk off half a pint and that's like $5 so my total alcohol budget for the month is like $10 rn.

Not alcool related, but what do you think about Ketamine? Many of my friends do it and they have a lot of fun, but I can't understand if it might be something bad to use even occasionally

If you drink excessively, then it will undo all of your effort in the gym. Alcohol makes you fatter and it makes you lose muscle mass. It also damages the collagen in your skin and makes you look uglier. So just remember that whenever you go for a drink, that your time spent working out and eating right is being retroactively wasted. This made me want to drink less

If you're drinking excessively, then it's probably because you're sad/bored, and need to find something else to do with your time. Get other hobbies that don't involve drinking

Stay busy when youre not working. Find something you can focus on all weekend personal project anything and stay busy as you can. Organise to see a family member on saturday morning so you cant drink friday night etc.

Keep doing that and it gets easier over time thats really all you can do. If youre the type to drink and then go to work the next day I cant help you. Probably time for AA if youre that far gone

Annie Grace got me started on my journey to sobriety. I drink about once every three months now.
