When I was 74kg (victim weight) I walked 20k steps everyday and I still could not run for long at all
in the sense of like burning calories yeah, but it gets way too easy way too fast and its not good for building endurance/speed, 0 carry over once you can easily average like 15k a day

also walking that much takes up a lot of time, its more efficient to build up to running or elliptical or intense biking for an hour a day than to dedicate so much of your time to walking imo.

I weigh 250 so running currently is limited to around a mile for the sake of my knees. Seeing results from supersetting 5x3 mins erg with 5x5 burpees and 5x1 mins stationary bike. Try it I made a cheat code.
Don't be so certain you cretin. If you walked at >6.5km/h 4-5x/week and gained 200m over the hour you could easily run a flat 5k in your first effort.

It's good for preventing vascular health decline and blood sugar regulation so yes. But it doesn't really improve your vascular health much except in outlier volumes and doesn't do much for other forms of cardio. I wouldn't say it's a waste of time but there's better things you could do in less time.
