I love OHP but I have given it up for incline benching now. Gives you almost just as good shoulder workout while also giving your more volume on your pecs.
As the weight gets heavier, abs come into play hugely. Not the usual bullshit "isometric support" thing, but the abs need to actively contract to counteract the tendency of the bar to want to bend you over backwards.
You can't do an OHP without leaning back at all, because otherwise your head gets in the way of the bar, that's where the moment arm comes in and your abs need to work to stop yourself going total banana mode.
I keep hurting my I think rotator cuff on these. Any tips?
Do one arm standing OHP with a dumbell.
you literally dont need anything else other than power clean + press
The only times I have been approached in the gym by women was when I was overhead pressing heavy.I can't believe I don't see enough people doing this exercise
Well that guy needs a form check, his forearms are not vertical.
grip way too wide, he is doing a standing barbell chest press
>vertical press is now a chest exercise
chest and delts. cope.
Always has been.
OHP definitely gives some of the most aesthetic gains out of all major barbell movements.

t. 2pl8 strict presser
Post lift. Lately it seems like every other poster is busting out a 2pl8 ohp, I don’t buy it
Not gonna dox myself, you'll just have to believe me
I stopped OHP years ago, incline DB and one arm DB press are better and safer imo
i feel it in my lats as well

I'm new to lifting. Isn't the end position of an ohp such that the wwight is directly above your feet? Where does the moment arm come from?
Your abs and other stabilizers are doing a lot of work to keep the weight centered over your feet.

God tier if you ask me
At what weight does ab strength become important?
It's probably the same few anons posting on every ohp lift they see
That’s the definition of isometric
you fricking moron
I pair OHP with weighted dips.
you literally dont need anything else other than power clean + press
doing it reverse grip hits so much better
>Stop doing The Press(tm)
>Do incline benches and lateral raises
I moved into a new apartment and the ceiling is too low to do these. Now my home gym is worthless. It's over bros.
sit down, idiot
I keep hurting my I think rotator cuff on these. Any tips?
Its a mediocre exercise to be honest. I still do it sometimes though.
I still don't know the difference between OHP and military press
It's the difference between a puma and a cougar.

It's mid, I got more delt gains from just doing a billion lateral raises. I stopped doing them and only do seated dumbbell press (40kg per hand)
Lateral raises are mandatory,no question but when I switched from OHP to seated my delt gains sort of halted.
Ya, I need a higher ceiling
