Your shoulders are involved in all forms of presses, if you laid down horizontally to press then the should is involved in rotating your humerus in the scapular plane when you press the bar

This is a straw man my argument isn't that bench works shoulders equally as much as chest just that it works shoulders. As for zlaat's OHP he did 135lbs for 3x12, that is at least 60% of his 1RM giving him a 225lbs OHP at least which is advanced plus he did this after dips so his shoulder and triceps would be pre exhausted
nope 90kg was his max when he tried maxxing out without training the shoulders (just dips) which is barely intermediate for his weight (110kg). for context he only does dip and his dip is world class, his bench is elite and his ohp is the same as a 1 year lifter. this should prove to you if you're not completely moronic that indeed the shoulder being a muscle whose function is to raise the arm vertically does almost no work in horizontal pressing and there's no way that the should would take over and leave you with a small chest unless you tore 80% of both your pecs and never got them reatached

Bench absolutely does work shoulders, even strongmen says close grip bench is one of the best accessories for more volume for and putting mass on the delts.

in 2 years of lifting. (only 1 with barbells) i have either matched or surpassed all his lifts. if you plug his lifts in any calculator with a 210lb bodyweight it will tell you this is an intermediate lifter
