"No carbs, only meat"

Is the carb fad coming to an end?

Even athletes are realizing that meat is best for performance.

I'm not going to write you a thesis to prove common sense facts like that grass is green. Use your head a little.

Diet studies are woefully lacking in details regarding what constitutes a meat eating diet. What this means is that it draws the meat eating cohort from the average person, who eats meat. The average person may qualify for the meat eating group, but they're also not diet conscious and eat like shit. By default, vegetarians and vegans are diet conscious since they are eating a nonstandard diet, so of course they're going to be healthier due to inherently being selective about food.

It shouldn't require much thought on your part to see why this is an issue. A vegan who eats rice and seitan should be compared to an omnivore who eats rice and chicken not to a normalgay who eats tv dinners and McDonald's.

      https://www.mensjournal.com/news/world-record-yosemite-climber-meat-diet
      >Ehman completed the climb in just four hours and 39 minutes, starting his climb at around 8 a.m. on Oct. 10 and scaling to the top of El Capitan by 12:41 p.m. He beat the previous record-holder, Alex Honnold, by over an hour. Honnold, who was featured in a 2018 Academy Award-winning National Geographic documentary about his quest to perform the first free-solo climb up El Capitan, previously made the climb in five hours and 50 minutes back in 2010.
      >"His exceptional diet of meat, salt, and water seems to have given him unusual strength and endurance and he took no water or food on this run up the route," the publication writes. "Our local vegetarians were dumbfounded!"

The claim that "no pro athlete eats only meat" is a lazy hyperbole and you autists are free to get into a b***hfight over that nitpick if you want.
But it's silly to conclude without further evidence that the difference between Honnold and Ehman is due to diet. Even in non-niche sports like sprinting, genetics trump all. Rock climbers are sufficiently rare that the safest assumption is that Ehman just has superior genetics.

The US government started the carb meme in 1980. Before that everyone knew they were cheap filler food that needed to be supplemented with as much meat and animal fat as possible.

For some reason even athletes fell for the meme.

Deceptive graph. Makes it look like there was a turning point specifically when the low-fat diet recommendations happened, but in fact that's just when the measurement was taken.

You'll find the fatness increase over this time period actually correlates with a host of other obviously suspect factors including sedentary lifestyles, food costs, eating culture and mass production/distribution of processed foods.

People did change what they ate. More carbs. This happened due to low-fat diet advice.

Carbs cause obesity. The obesity epidemic is surely caused by the proven increase in carb consumption.

            Anonymous

Wrong. Food got cheaper and activity rates declined. People ate more and burned less. None of your graphs refute this.

              Anonymous

Food fundamentally changed. More carbs in general and more processed carbs. Food manufacturers engineered food to fit the guidelines.

Also more fats in general and more processed food with fats.
                It was more of everything.
Food got cheaper and cheaper. Cheap food also made it cheaper to eat out at restaurants. An entire industry called Fast Food evolved around making it cheaper to eat food someone else prepared. The low-fat fad has been dead for two decades yet obesity rates have not reversed.

Fixating on the carbs alone is moronic because you wind up ignoring all the other important factors.

Fat consumption remained stable in absolute amounts. Fat as a percentage of the diet declined.

                >HFD-fed mice exhibited obesity, insulin resistance, dyslipidaemia and adipose collagen accumulation, along with higher levels of plasma leptin, resistin and plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1, although there were no significant differences in plasma cytokine levels. Energy intake was similar in the two diet groups owing to lower food intake in the HFD group; however, energy expenditure was also lower in the HFD group than in the LFD group. Microarray analysis revealed that genes related to lipolysis, fatty acid metabolism, mitochondrial energy transduction, oxidation–reduction, insulin sensitivity and skeletal system development were down-regulated in HFD-fed mice, and genes associated with extracellular matrix (ECM) components, ECM remodelling and inflammation were up-regulated.

The two reasons obesity exploded are:
              1. Government guidelines
              2. Sugar industry advertising

So your point is what, that since large corporations push refined food products, we should instead listen to doctors who have lost their license because of ethics violations, who also happen to sell the food they promote as the staple of the diet?

They have been doing the same thing to doctors who treated patients for COVID. They were supposed to let the patients become hypoxic, go to the hospital, get midazolam and morphine, be put on a ventilator, and then die. Doctors who treated people with zinc, vitamin d, and ivermectin to prevent them from getting severe illness are still fighting to keep their medical licenses. This is despite these doctors having provably better patient outcomes.

America still recommends the poison injections for 6 month old babies.

You are moronic. What is makes more sense for the planets apex predator to eat, undeveloped, nutritionally sparse, hard to attain plant foods. Or abundant animal foods. It was only with the discovery of agriculture that plant food as the stable of the diet become possible. However it never became optimal.

                >What is makes more sense for the planets apex predator to eat, undeveloped, nutritionally sparse, hard to attain plant foods.
Why do grizzly bears eat sedge grass?
Game wasn't as abundant as you imagine and isn't as easily obtained as plants. Especially when you are sexually dimorphic role-specializing humans where women have to devote substantial, but hardly all of their time to bearing and raising children. Surveys of real hunter-gatherers point to diets varying widely and being heavily dependent on the specific resources of the area. Some are dominated by game animals others by locally abundant plants. Humans have always been omnivores, like bears. But where bears evolved from an order literally called Carnivora, humans evolved from primates which were originally tree-dwelling plant/fruit eaters.

Humans have only been evolving with agriculture for 10,000 years. So it's likely our adaptations to the change come with downsides-- but we do have adaptations (adults producing lactase, for example). It's silly to ignore them. Sherpas have been living at high elevations for 10,000 years. They are well-adapted to their environment by now, why would they worry about altitude sickness that affects lowlanders?

youre trying to convince somebody that they are wrong or simply misled. thats already hard enough. now add in the moronation that excess body fat has on the brain, and excess dietary fat that carnivore also adds... well here we are today. we have literal overweight/obese cattle morons losing like 50lbs and feeling somewhat better, and then they go and infest the internet with their snake oil pitch. PROTIP: every social media "carnivore" that makes money off of shilling it eats carbs off-camera, gauranteed. and sadly every "carnivore" that took them seriously, takes it seriously. like cattle.

Danny Roddy talked about this as well. he was early into zerocarb, before Baker and before it became mainstream. he would frequent their forums and try to help people and the head guy, can't remember his name but it's the skinny homie that runs (so any homie?) and has been on a few podcasts, anyways he told Danny that he needed to chill out and that most of these people aren't strict on their diet.
he ended up having health problems, like all carnivores, and moved on from the diet.

but you're probably right. maybe the people reading it looking for advice will ask the questions that carnivores can't answer and avoid fricking up their life.

Is the carb fad coming to an end?

Even athletes are realizing that meat is best for performance.

to be fair when i played sports i felt great even on low carb diets because i was lean and light as frick @ 170lbs
i didn't need my muscles to produce maximum potential force in order to run and jump

after i started lifting for size and strength, i noticed my performance at the gym was shit if i ever underdosed my carbs

leaner athletes simply don't need as much carb-load fulfillment as a percentage of 100% as hardcore lifters do
being at 35% theoretical carb load is fine for a football player because all he's doing is running and jumping, both of which have diminishing returns after a certain point of fulfillment
meanwhile a bodybuilder at 35% load is going to be weak as frick and feel like shit because he's used to having his best lifts at 70%+

this has been my experience with carbs and athletic performance

lifting and running are different activities
the benefit both activities receive from the varying levels of carb (glucose, ATP) fulfillment differs drastically
a runner can have an excellent session, graded through 10, with a lower percentage carb load than a powerlifter

        30% runner = 8/10 run, felt good
        30% powerlifter = 2/10 lift, felt soft
        90% runner = 1/10 run, felt heavy
        90% powerlifter = 10/10 lift, felt smooth

there are no metrics as far as i know relating to carb load fulfillment, and so the concepts i am discussing are largely theoretical, backed by anecdote

          The truth /fit can't handle

Based. Thinking about it evolutionarily. Hunter gatherers that lived primarily on meat needed endurance but very rarely had to lift heavy loads of weight. However the grain eating peasants that built monuments, that fought in wars wearing armour, carrying heavy spears and swords and shields, rowing galleys e.c.t required increased muscle mass and increased strength to lift heavy things that a heavy carb diet allowed. Meat is essential for nutrition. However for the purpose of body building where at most the human body can gain 10+ grams of muscle per day protein requirements can be met with minimal meat. But Carb consumption is required to have the energy to stimulate the muscles properly to grow.

          TL;DR

          Meat& fat for endurance
          Meat & Carbs for Strength.

The US government started the carb meme in 1980. Before that everyone knew they were cheap filler food that needed to be supplemented with as much meat and animal fat as possible.

For some reason even athletes fell for the meme.

1970s to 1990s, aka when people were actually skinny. Low carb started around the mid to late 90s and people became obese pretty fricking quickly on it.

You know, low fat high carb, chicken, rice broccoli diets, that kind of thing. Of course, low fat diets are nothing new, they have been the norm until after ww2 simply because meat was leaner back then.

The only "tribes" that may do this shit are the ones living like two miles from a big city and getting most of their food from charity organizations.
