I remember seeing an infographic a while ago about all the facets of bodybuilding, obvious ones and less obvious ones. E.g. better form on lift, more weight, better sleep, less calories. If you move one of these in the correct way while holding or improving performance you are improving. I've used something like that to grade myself on my own categories, so I can assess what's holding me back.

I can do 12 chin ups but only 7 pull ups. Can do weighted dips but yet I fail miserably when it comes to muscle ups. I had some dude teach me the technique but I guess it’s just not yet possible for me.
