        it can slightly increase DHT/test

if you have DHT sensitivity for balding it's going to happen anyway, your options are to go on troon drugs or just deal with it

MPB is maternal. You have to look at either your mother/grandmother or your maternal uncles/granduncles because they share the same genes as your mother/grandmother

You’re good. Creatine increases DHT which promotes balding if you have the MPB gene, it doesn’t magically make your hair fall out. That’s why guys like Tom Platz are still rocking a full head of hair but many other roiders go bald early. If you don’t have MPB in your family, you’re good to go

I take only 3g and it the best antidepressant I ever encountered in my life. A real game changer. On the other hand I realized that a lot of stuff that I did I can't do now, because I'm not that handicapped anymore. Seem weird, but it's just like that. If you live your life it seems to pass you and you're going with the flow, if you're depressive you're much more aware in a way. So you lose something, and you gain something, but I like it better this way.

unironically take some caffeine in the morning, they sell pills and it'll improve your mood for the day and there are no negatives to caffeine aside from the fact you will build up a tolerance. So just cycle from time to time.

    Absolutely not.
Essentially it will provide your muscles with a little bit of extra fuel which can give them a little bit of an edge during intense lifting. That's it, really.

But it's cheap, thouroughly studied and has no side effects unless you consume ridiculous doses, so why not.

  8. 10 months ago

  9. 10 months ago

it's not going to give you energy in the way that a stimulant drug or caffeine would, but it can help you sustain physical activity for longer
it is reported to have neurological benefits, but the amount of benefit will vary from person to person, and I don't think you should expect it to immediately cure your depression
I would guess that consistent exercise of at least moderate intensity will have a much more noticeable effect on your mood than just taking creatine would, and losing some weight will almost certainly boost your self-esteem and your energy levels
bit of a meme answer for IST, but it's true. do you have any kind of exercise routine?

It pumps water into the muscles so you will look a little bit bigger and you will also be a little stronger than normal. That's the pros.

The cons is that, it also makes the face bloated as there are also facial muscles. That's the reason I stopped taking creatine.

      Anonymous

did you do a load phase? i only did 3mg a day from the beginning and didn't had face bloat while its working.

        Anonymous

it's actually quite hard for one to recognize his bloating. You have to pay attention to every detail to see that you are bloated in the face.

Im a lookism homosexual so I try everything to reduce my facial water retention and Im very sure that taking creatine makes my face puffier.

If you just want to lift heavier and look bigger, then creatine is beneficial. But if you just want to look good, especially for the face, then creatine is a bad supplement.

It works by increasing phospho creatine stores in the body, which helps with energy and stamina at the gym, as well as muscle hydration, but you have to take it every day to reach a saturation point enough to get benefit from it, the average for most is 5g per day, but some can benefit from higher doses,
Some morons, including formerly me, say that it can cause hair loss because it increases dht levels in the body, but there's never actually been proof that causes hair loss, there is one paper, but it's origins are erroneous at best and downright false at worst,
At the end of the day give it a shot, it definitely can help you even if just a placebo,
Tldr: Cheap and helps stamina so it good

Have you actually read the study? They were taking 20 grams a day and only ONE of the players developed MPB and they never even factored genetics into the study.

          Anonymous

Yes I have read the study. 20 grams isn’t unreasonable for a loading phase, you should just pee out the excess anyway. What’s worrying isn’t that one guy literally got bald, tbh I don’t even remember that part, it is the huge spike in serum DHT without a corresponding change in free test. That implies that creatine is doing something to prevent or slow the breakdown of DHT into other compounds. That excess DHT is what could cause hair loss if you’re genetically predisposed, a 56% spike in DHT is fricking huge, considering finasteride only reduces production by 60-70%

        Anonymous

the one study everyone refers to doesn't even study balding. it's just about the general effect of rugby/intense exercise+creatine on DHT levels (might as well not lift if you are so afraid of balding at this point, lifting should amount to same effect on DHT). everything from that onwards is just speculating on A -> C, B -> C, therefore B -> C. which none of the other studies show. creatine is pretty much the most well studied supplement at this point. and no further ""links"" are found on creatine and balding.

        good summary on the matter:

Very disingenuous wording and conclusion in that study.

          1. The results of van der Merwe have not been replicated because no other published study has tested for DHT in conjunction with creatine supplementation. The authors word it in weaselly a way that implies that other studies did not detect a spike in dht

          2. Intense resistance exercise can cause elevated androgenic hormones, sure, but these were already trained athletes. That increase should already be accounted for in baseline DHT levels

          3. They suggest that creatine might be up regulating the production of DHT, but that this would be unlikely because increases in total test are not associated with creatine. The conclusion is that creatine is therefore unlikely to cause a DHT spike, when in reality a more reasonable conclusion is that creatine is slowing down or down regulating the breakdown of DHT, leading to higher levels despite total test remaining the same

          4. Calling a 0.55 nmol/L spike in DHT “small” is not objective wording and deliberately downplays it. They also suggest that the lower baseline level in the control group somehow explains why the spike was “statistically significant” but offers no real analysis or statistical comparison other than just not so subtly implying that the result is wrong

          5. [various authors on the study] “has received funding to study creatine and is an advisor for supplement companies who sell creatine”. This is literally a shill study

Despite the fact that it supposedly fills your cells with water and makes you look softer and bloated, it had the exact opposite effect on me. It helps me to get shredded and feel great. And the only thing that swells up is my muscles, not the rest of my body. And so I look swole as frick and feel absolutely massive and Chadly when I'm on on creatine. And it's not just in my head. When I'm on creatine, I get lots of comments about how I must work out a lot from random people. And I even occasionally hear kids in the grocery store saying things like "Holy crap. That's guy's friggin' huuuge."

But it also seems to make my hair shed like crazy - which is such a bummer. I've started to go bald over the last few years. I'm a Norwood 3. Or at least I was since I just got a hair transplant a couple of weeks ago. And so I'm yet another anecdotal example of creatine making you go bald. But there's other people out there who've been taking creatine every day for 20+ years with a full head of hair. And so it's up to you if you're willing to take that risk or not. Unfortunately, I'm not willing to take that risk anymore because I used to be so self-conscious about my hairline before my hair transplant (I'm still praying that it turns out well).

I'm super tempted to go back on it though, because my body becomes softer and pudgier when I'm not on it. Almost like those low-T guys with manboobs and pear shaped feminine bodies. It's also really tempting to go back on creatine because I'm one of those people who respond to it extremely well - at least when it comes to gym performance and body composition (with the exception of my hair). I honestly felt like I could lift 30% more weight in the gym within the first month of taking 5 grams of creatine every day. It was insane how much stronger I was. But alas, my hairline hates it.

I tried oral Finasteride back in 2017. Initially it boosted my sex drive more than I've ever experienced. And so I thought it was having the exact opposite effect of erectile dysfunction on me - which I was thrilled about. But after only taking it for a little over a month, I woke up one morning with almost zero blood flow to my penis. It was literally cold to the touch and shriveled up like I just jumped into an ice bath. Likewise, my balls were tucked it super hard to my body like I just jumped into ice water. And my balls shrunk significantly too. And this nightmare lasted over a year. It was the most uncomfortable I've ever felt. I was an inch away from killing myself. Gradually, my dick has gotten better over the last 6 1/2 years. But it's still not back to being 100%. It's much harder for me to get erections now, my erections don't last as long, both my erect and flaccid size are smaller than they used to be, and my balls are still smaller than they used to be. So I'm never going anywhere near that shit ever again - including the topical version. Taking that poison was the worst mistake in my entire life. And no, I don't care what the scientific studies say. I'm not making up what happened to me.

I haven't tried that. But I'd honestly be willing to. I'm desperate at this point since nothing is really working. I went to several different urologists, and only one of them had ever even heard of post finasteride syndrome. All the rest of them said that the side effects typically go away in about a month. Nobody has any solutions. They just give me prescriptions for viagra and cialis, or they refer me to sex therapists because they think I'm imagining what happened to me.

You have a massive misconception about what bloating and water retention is. When your muscles have water and bloating, they look full and strong, not soft. When models prep for a shoot, they eat tons of carbs right before and work out a bit to get a pump. They also dehydrate. The carbs pull all the water they have left into the muscles and into the pump, while leaving none to the skin. That makes the muscles look crazy big, full, and hard, while the dehydrated skin clings to the muscles and veins.

Tldr: creatine and water makes your muscles look full and hard, not soft. Like a wiener engorged with blood. Mmmmmm.

You do NOT need a test base with everything, why do people still say this? >I'm a fatty with no energy and depression, will this stuff really increase my energy and cure depression

No that's not what creatine is for. It will help store a tiny bit more glycogen in your muscles so you will get fatigued less quickly doing high intensity exercise. The difference it makes is quite small, but it definitely can help lifting, cardio ect. If your a fat frick who doesn't exercise there is basically no point in taking it

Only creapure worked for me, nobody in my family is bald and if made me shed a bit of hair, my dad has a full head of hair at almost 50.
My grandpa had full head of hair at almost 70 before he passed away.
I swapped to "normal" creatine aka non creapure and I didn't react at all to it, my muscles feels like they aren't bigger before I was on creapure.
Will probably stop taking it because it makes my face bloated even though I'm 15% bf

You ask for studies, you get them and then complain that they weren’t conducted properly while offering nothing to the contrary. You ask for body without posting yours first, and then you call them dyel when they post it. It didn’t matter if there was a sample size of 100,000 or if the poster looked like Arnold, you just don’t want to admit that you’re wrong. Creatine promotes balding, and a study found a plausible mechanism for it. End of story

Not a miracle product. Nothing is. It has been clinically shown to increase both performance and muscle growth. The only downside is you retain more water (so you weight a bit more). As long as you drink plenty of water and don't need to make weight for some weight class competition, there's absolutely no downside.

That being said, we're talking about something like a 5% difference. It won't make or break your progress. If you're fat and depressed, it won't cure that. Only hard work will. Creatine just makes you 5% faster.

Downside was that i had to pee every night like 5 times, which i hated.

Then, as the moron i was, i started taking more and more until i beastly had liver and kidney damage. I felt incredibly dehydrated, had 40° fever, massive pains and stopped taking it immediately.
