>read that white button mushrooms are great for testosterone
>they "inhibit aromatization", or something like that, preventing T from turning into estrogens.
>see countless articles, videos and other media claiming the miraculous effects of them on T levels
>decide to look deeper into it instead of just trusting it
>find the studies those claims are based on
>Study #1: it was made on isolated cells on a petri dish (meaningless)
>Study #2: an actual study on living human beings. They fed them an EXTRACT, not just plain mushrooms.
>still no significant decrease in aromatase or estrogen levels AFTER THREE MONTHS... OF FEEDING THEM AN EXTRACT DAILY
>Study #3: made on hamster cells and live mice. Using an EXTRACT, again, not just plain mushrooms.
>Concluded it MAY have some effect on estrogen & in reducing cancer cells, (still inconclusive)
>See countless supplements including white button mushroom powder based on this weak evidence.
>See countless people on the Internet recommending them for no real reason.
And this is just one example. There are dozens of myths and overblown beliefs that people have because of studies with no real value.
Sometimes there even are extremely obvious conflicts of interest or they are biased to confirm the beliefs that institutions & society consider correct.
When did you grow out of trusting studies and just went with what works?

Science is great.
the way it is being used and manipulated is the problem.
same goes for technology
The scientific method is great. Science is worthless bullshit owned by corporate interests.
It's blaming the bible for the Catholic Church raping little boys. The Baconian method is fine- if inherently limited. It is the Baconian Church that is corrupt. At this point you have to consider anything you are told a priori. No I am not jizzed with the Covid ***vaxxine***
>When did you grow out of trusting studies and just went with what works?
When I realized that 99% of referenced studies around frauding are bullshit and gear use is highly fearmongered, most "science based" guys look like absolute dogshit, and pretty much every ~~*study*~~ conflicts with real world results
>absolutely pic related
this is what your gigaautist RPE 3x frequency ideal hypertrophy routine will get you
why the hell would he even step on stage looking like this? just say you're sick or something man, brutal
guys like him use "science-based muscle targetting high volume" training just to avoid training hard
that's all it is
>i can either destroy myself with intense compound lifts for an hour
>or massage my body with isolation exercises for 2 hours
tough decision for a lazy DYEL
>skin falling off pecs
100% chance this man used to be fat as frick
Why are you blaming the studies??? And not the morons misrepresenting the studies to try and peddle some shitty miracle pills???
This. I doubt the studies make much overreaching claims.
It sounds like the science isn't the problem, it's the people trying to make money off of it that are.
>it's the people trying to make money off of it that are.
>people
the CHOSEN people for you filthy goy
That and the fact that affirmative action exists instead of a pure meritocracy. Oh you made a new engine that runs on water? Nobel price worthy breakthrough? Too bad shaniqua from interqueer woman studies needs the money for her research on indigenous xthey/zthem pussy lice neurodivergence. Here is a bullet form big oil btw for attempting to rape their profits. (You died by suicide by covid)
>It sounds like the science isn't the problem, it's the people trying to make money off of it that are.
Those are literally the same thing. In for example the fields of nutrition and medicine, 99% of all scientific evidence is funded by the corporations that benefit from selling food or medicine. That's not even an exaggeration. Practically ALL science in these fields is biased and funded.
All of this is not a problem with science or the majority of actual scientists, but the media and businessmen. There is nothing wrong with the studies you mentioned. The blame lies with those who take those results and extrapolate or exaggerate them when they have no business doing so. The blame lies with those who use this to sell supplements. If you are even remotely scientifically literate you can see through the media lies regarding studies like the ones you mentioned. It doesn’t mean disregarding science all together you fricking idiot.
>the majority of actual scientists
The majority of actual scientists will follow the mainstream and don't ask questions that might frick their careers.
Science is the result of following the scientific method.
therefore, there's a lack of science.
you are blaming the product they sell as science, the same as I do
>you are blaming the product they sell as science, the same as I do
Yes, but my phrasing is crafted with intention to separate the method from the industry. The scientific method is a very good set of principles that can be used to investigate things, science is an industry that serves as a propaganda arm for corporations. Conflating the word "science" with the scientific method is a tool for deflection used by the criminals who own the science industry.
we agree at the core of the idea, so further discussion is sterile.
godspeed
>The majority of actual scientists will follow the mainstream and don't ask questions that might frick their careers.
The point of view of someone with no familiarity with research. You think mainstream science is the majority of it, because your only familiarity of research is mainstream research that gets posted online. The OVERWHELMING majority of scientific researchers don't get put in the light online and mind their own business, sharing their research with other scientists that helps develop healthcare and technology. You have no idea what is happening beyond what you see in your social media algorithm.
>that wasn't reall commu- I mean, Science! you did not read real science
Most of the scientist do useless research to throw on a pit of papers so they can boost their careers.
>Literally not true. Of course, you wouldn’t know that because you have never set so much as a toe in any scientific field.
>Literally I'm a redd*t homosexual. I will lecture you on science by using ad hominem as my first argument.
choke on dicks homosexual, is safe and secure, as long as science agrees.
Listen if you want to remain ignorant your whole life then by all means go ahead, no one is stopping you. You will always live in fear of what you don’t understand (which seems to be just about everything). Just try not to get in the way of individuals with an IQ about 70. And yes I did use an ad hominem because you’re a moron but I am sorry that I hurt your feelings.
>homosexual thinks is superior.
Go gape your mouth on your worthless sub and tell to other troons how you defended science and truth on le evil lair of IST.
Not even arguing anymore. Just insults. The purest display of seethe. Enjoy being blown the frick out.
I am superior to you. In every measurable way I am better. Learn to accept this for a happier life
Look buddy the scientific community says the earth is the center of the universe. Trust the science.
No flies on me thanks to DDT!
Literally not true. Of course, you wouldn’t know that because you have never set so much as a toe in any scientific field. Lots of people question current theories, that’s the basis of scientific investigation. You are being misled once again by the media. They choose whose voices to amplify. They bring “experts” on the news who parrot the narrative they want, but those individuals do not speak for the larger scientific community. The majority of which you will never see or hear from.
sry this is not related, but why can't i make a thread? i've tried 3 times (once with a different picture) and it's just not showing up.
Skill issue
not enough karma
>lmao communications is such a worthless degree who needs to learn how to talk lol
>why is all the scientific data so poorly communicated to the layperson?
Scientific articles are never written for a laymen audience.
Fitness industry is a massive scam who would have thought. You don't need ANY supplements at all. No exceptions. Just eat a good balanced diet with all the macros you need.
How do you know ''what works''?
You have to observe and measure, right? But your observations, your measurements and your story about what you have observed and measured are flawed.
Welcome to The Science. Welcome to life even, because what do all organisms have in common? They manipulate eachother's perception of reality. Camouflage, walking sticks, angler fish, snakes with spider-tails, colorful feathers...it's all deception. Human life forms are the best liars of all. You do it every day, but other people have more money and power to manipulate perception of reality on a bigger scale than you. That's why you hate them.
>new thing
>is amazing, completely revolutionizes its field.
>normies oppose it because new
>as time passes, normies can't argue with the results
>normies ""adopt"" thing
>normies violate, desacrate and bastardize the thing while singing its praises
>people who actually cared from the start die inside a little
Many such cases.
Oh brother
OP you dumb c**t. You're supposed to be mad at the people misinterpreting these studies to push an agenda. The scientists were just fricking around seeing how stuff works with mushrooms. Notice how at no point in these studies do they say you should start eating mushrooms. The fitness journal writers you fell for said that.
>modern vaccines
>dietary science (eat ze bugs!)
>feminism
>feathered dinosaurs
>gender "studies"
I stopped believing in science years ago.
Mushrooms look like dicks, that's why they increase testosterone. I don't need """SCIENCE""" to tell me that. You guys are being played for fools kek
You should eat a bullet too
I've been eating bullets for years to make me immune to being shot.
Correct.
You should try these instead.
Ok Benjamin
It sounds like you DO trust studies, you just don't trust morons who don't know how to interpret studies
Not really. 90% of stuff advertised as scientific truth is always misleading in some way.
If anything, the reason why I learned so much stuff over the years is because I do NOT trust them.
Other famous myths peddled as scientific truth:
>vitamin A toxicity from eating liver (hoax)
>fluoride is good for your teeth
>eating too many eggs will make your heart explode (doctors actually believe this)
>red meat will give you cancer (doctors actually believe this)
>"lactose intolerance" (it's a myth, the real cause is pasteurization)
etc. etc.
The list is much longer, and it's incredible how much bullshit is in the head of the average person because of these quacks.
>"lactose intolerance" (it's a myth, the real cause is pasteurization)
sauce?
Aajonus Vonderplanitz talked about it in detail in his books. The Weston Price Foundation also has articles with sources about it. Raw milk is easily digestible because it preserves the enzymes that facilitate digestion. Specifically, lactase.
Pasteurization completely destroys lactase and cauterizes most of the minerals and vitamins, making them unusable. The body doesn't know what to do with the calcium from pasteurized milk and stores it in your muscles.
To try to digest it, your body has to produce lots of enzymes of its own, which require a lot of resources and cause your digestion to be "heavy" and difficult, resulting in gastrointestinal issues (gas, diarrhea, etc).
The European countries with the most "lactose intolerance" are actually the countries where most of the milk consumed is UHT (Ultra High Temperature treated).
In short, 99% of the time, it's not the genetics of the population, but that they're not drinking real milk, but rather a product that's been destroyed with temperature and made less digestible.
>90% of stuff advertised as scientific truth is always misleading in some way.
So you're agreeing with that anon you're responding to then.
The replication crisis isn't a conspiracy or unheard of. Every scientist knows about it and accepts it, they only really get angry when you point it out as evidence that sometimes scientist are wrong because people in academia are extremely arrogant.
The best way to learn how to do things is to learn from people who do those things successfully. Anyone who learns from news articles and textbooks is just ignorant.
>Science hate
>"hur dur journalists are scientifically illiterate and misreport research"
>"Scientists are stoopid"
No, you are just moronic.
Science is fine. It's ~~*science*~~ that you need to watch out for.
>read scientific studies showing something doesn't work
>random people online say it works
>hurr durr I hate science
are you actually moronic?
The null hypothesis remaining true has nothing to do with real villainy: journalism and the news cycle.
You did exactly what you were supposed to, OP. You found the studies and put them under scrutiny. Most people will not.
It's not like I just "trust the science" or some bullshit studies but I still try new products or unconventional ways to train. Assuming it's safe, there is nothing wrong with that, you just have to have realistic expectations. If you already know what works, what do you have to lose? You only lose when you get tricked into believing in something that doesn't work while being ignorant of what actually works.
I try everything on Joe Rogan lmao. One time I mixed cbd with broccoli sprout sulphurophane extract and had a panic attack on the floor for 2 hours. The sulphurophane increased the potency of the cbd and I had the uncanny feeling of being waaaaaay too body high for 3 hours. Completely sober mentally but felt like I took 4 double perc bong rips in the rest of my body.
>find men I want to be like
>you will know them by their fruit
>do what they do
I don't need scientific "experts" to tell me what do if they look like weak men.
