I agree once you get them to a certain size which is very easy to get to even by 1-2 years you can just maintain.
Legs are very fatiguing muscle group. when I was trying to grow them, leg days would frick my day up. Now its managable.
I still calf train as a find you can never have too big of calves.

Calves are just more obvious and get leaner quicker compared to thighs. But the quads get worked. Pick up a 15-20kg plate and imagine standing up with that extra weight every time you get out of bed, get up off the couch, toilet, get out the car, stand up from a desk etc.

I warm up lifting 3x a week with 3x5 squats and rdl. I also run 6 miles 2x per week and do a long run on the weekend. Each lifting day I do 4x4 interval training on an elliptical before bed.

They also really affect your weight. Skinny legs to massive legs is a few 10s of kg depending on the guy. Disregarding aesthetic, your size and strength is very dependent on legs, more than anything. Also hormonal advantage. Long term, it takes a monkeybrain to skip legs.
