Wait, y'all mfs really taking protein powder? It's trash lol
If you really need to supplement protein, why not eat real food that is high in protein and has other nutrients like
>fat free greek yogurt
>fat free cottage cheese
>fish
>lean beef
>chicken breast
These all have a similar calorie to protein ratio as protein powder and cost the same. Why eat slop instead of real food?

Lol half of it goes into your gut digested. You are paying money to fart more and shit out half digested protein powder. That's why pro-bodybuilders will literally spend $700 per week on steak and fish and hours cooking and cleaning instead of drinking protein shakes that they get for free. No athletes or bodybuilders drink this garbage even though they all get it for free. They just eat food. There is a reason for this. Because it is junk and it's loaded with contaminants. Just buy real food and stop being a moron.

Honestly, I haven't had the time to perform any experiments, but I have some plans for engineering tissue- and cell-compatible interfaces for things like prosthetics, implants, interfaces, and transplants (e.g. artificial kidneys).

The short term stuff is more related to analyzing and applying genetic, epigenetic, and environmental factors in growth, development, and pathology; I'd like to see if an artificial womb can be designed such that the tissue substrate for the fetus can be designed / replaced as needed. I figured that there are factors not being considered in current designs that may have an influence on neonatal health, and by proxy, lifelong health.

I'd also like to see about developing living analogues to currently mechanical / electrical components, chiefly computers, as models for laboratory testing. I know that sounds weird, but in the context of developing neural interfaces, it may be important for the "digital self" which may arise from said interfaces to have the reference and processing capacity to do independent work from their organic host.

Whey protein is a byproduct of cheese production. They literally used to just dump the whey out. Now they dehydrate it and sell it to someone who puts dye and flavoring on it before dumping it in a plastic tub and slapping a label on it. Enjoy your cheese byproduct powder.

Chicken breast is the ultimate protein kick. Season 2 or more pounds and put in a slow cooker. Takes 6 hours. Shred it, store it, reheat 6oz whenever you want 60g of protein. Mix with Buffalo sauce and cheese.

I usually write my recipes on the fly and they typically turn out well. If you're gonna use protein powder, I'd suggest not using a premix. King Arthur's website has a good base brownie recipe, and if you substitute the cocoa powder for protein powder, you should achieve similar results with an improved macro profile. I'd suggest learning baker's percentages and the effect of protein on rheological and structural properties of baked goods; it's how I found out gelatin + veggie oil = protein butter for cake.

You make it sound all complicated. People been making cake with jello mixes for a long time. I like to cook, but I think the box brownie mix tastes better than my homemade. I think that partially because store bought cocoa powder is trash.

              Anonymous

Jello mix is modified starch usually, not gelatin. What cocoa powder are you using for it to taste like trash? I don't typically use Nestle - if I use powder at all (and that's what's usually at the store). Good ingredients are the foundation for good food.

If you're gonna use a premix, you're gonna mess up its structure and cooking properties if you just add protein powder without consideration for the other ingredients. Post instructions, I'll see what I can do.

I think KA has a post on cocoa types and sources. Long and short: match Dutch cocoa to baking powder and natural cocoa to baking soda, lest you get bitter or sour aftertastes.

Also, good chocolate allows for a lot of flavor combinations.

1 teaspoon espresso powder, optional for enhanced flavor
1 tablespoon King Arthur Pure Vanilla Extract
          16 tablespoons (227g) unsalted butter
          2 1/4 cups (447g) granulated sugar -> I usually swap about 50g for brown
          1 1/2 cups (180g) King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
2 cups (340g) chocolate chips -> use dark chocolate, Ghirardelli 85% is based

Thanks. I typically add nestle toll house chocolate morsels to my box mix. I make my own homemade vanilla which also helps. Nice tip on the brown sugar. I exclusively use dark brown sugar now. So much better.

Fair nuff. I'll dig around for one of my recipes cards, if I have the time in the morning. Most of the time I write my recipes so I can use better ingredients or make substitutions for other people (like beans for veggiegays, oil+gel for flavor profile, oats + nut flour for glutengays). That reminds me - I need to make another chocolate cake recipe, for use with unflavored whey powder.

So basically, if you are a fat, lazy moron who can't carry a can of tuna around in the rare exception that you don't have access to a proper lunch after working out, then you should eat protein cancerpowder?

The only reason I drink protein shakes is post work out because it's also a good time to put a few grams of creatine

1 whole chicken is about 6 dollars and has about 200 grams of protein. You get about 33 grams of protein per dollar this way.

Whey protein is about 30 dollars for 2lbs, or 22 grams of protein per dollar.

Whey protein is: more expensive, less enjoyable, more filled with toxic metals.

There isn’t even a debate. There is NO justification for that shit.

NOTHING is stopping you from raising chickens, even in an apartment. Would be easier to raise them for eggs though unless you have a backyard.

Sometimes I want a banana and coffee for breakfast and still want 20-30 grams of protein involved. Also I buy whey and collagen because you're a homosexual.

If whey protein isnt real food then neither is cheese. It being a "supplement" in the first place is all marketing. Its quite literally a cheese making byproduct that they discovered was high in protein because places that they dumped whey in would grow algae.

no one buys whey for 30€/kg, i bought mine for 13-14€ per so just for the protein content there is nothing that beats whey. i agree with the sweetened shit though, unsweetened/unflavoured whey is the shit though

There's no reason to buy whey when you can just use nature's steroid, the egg. 36 eggs/day is like a dbol cycle.

I’m 31 and I can tell you from experience that every phase of my life that I have gone without whey protein my gains suffered because of it. It’s just easier to hit your protein goal and it fills you up with aminos

Because it's cheaper and you need more variety.
You usually combine all sources instead of eating chicken breast 3 times a day.
