People like you is why Shampoos have to write "do not drink" in the label.
He doesn't say to stare directly at the sun, what he says is that you should have sun in your eyes by just walking/stading in sun during early daytime to regulate your sleep (it will wake you up faster and make you sleepier at night).
This stare at the sun meme has been going around since he started his podcast and IST is retarded. Hubberman is fine but most stuff wont change your life, it will just do minor tweaks. His advice is good if you like min/maxing your life.
That being said be careful of his guests because he goes get some SUS advice from them. The best episodes are when he is solo IMO.srw0dm
Guys like him, Rogan, Jordan Peterson, etc. Are all just softcore Andrew Tates. Listening to them is the equivalent to jacking off to girls in bikinis, sure its nice but why not go all the way and watch her take it up the ass? That's why I prefer Tate over all of them
Useless grifter who profits off regurgitating pointless information on health and lifestyle garnered from studies that is not reproduceable and only applies in strictly controlled lab envirinments where peoples entire biochemistry is strictly monitored and measured to normies who think if they apply enough tips and tricks to their life they will stop being losers.
way too willing to ditch common sense and time-tested procedures just because one or two studies pointed in the opposite direction
his videos on neuroplasticity and motor skill learning are good examples, full of contrived shit where he's trying to fit a bunch of papers into a coherent protocol, and advice that goes against what you would receive from people who have actually learned motor skills well, but that he thinks must be superior because one really stupid experiment said this or that (a stupid experiment that, as we know, will be done again a few years from now and get a completely different result, a recurring theme for people who try to do self-improvement through science)
Also he said he wasn't bald he just shaved it cause he wanted. Which is a gay cope

This. The whole veneer of "scientifically backed" and "proven by studies" and "long form content" is still ultimately a sales pitch for supplement companies and other such grifts
Yup, him saying "you need to really learn how to focus, and do it everyday while you study" is a huge salves pitch. lmfao, what is the product to be sold?
>Which is a gay cope
100% dudes bald >what is the product to be sold?
At the start of each of his podcasts, he runs through sponsors. I like the guys content but the products are there

if this guy wasn't a garden gnome noone would have heard of him. another version of garden gnome Rogan or Rabbi Peterstein, completely normies listen to these establishment promoted guys thinking they are "getting ahead of the game" or "enlightened".
This. The whole veneer of "scientifically backed" and "proven by studies" and "long form content" is still ultimately a sales pitch for supplement companies and other such grifts
He doesn't profit though, he just provides tips, sponsors only pay for the podcast and some is donated towards donation towards others' academic research. He's a neuroscientist so he's paid reasonably well by Stanford lmao. And you might be right but that doesn't mean the study is meaningless, if you could only improve by directly observing results from the exact use case we're interested in we'd never get anything done. Pretty much only contrarians hate Huberman, or they just actually lack independent thinking and digest data and meta analyses themselves. Meanwhile nonexistent "evidence" posted by bloggers are used to justify hatred of seed oils, etc. Essentially if you see someone take a stance on IST you immediately be skeptical of it, only a fool would take anything written here as fact. Trust science for once tard

I think this is pretty valuable in itself, especially since people (myself included) tend to over validate people due to their credentials.
When the general population sees not just him, but people like Friedman and such are just as susceptible to bias and false information and that science even at the highest institutions are still run by very fallible humans it makes it very evident that all this faith we have in the way science is produced and disseminated is deeply flawed, regardless of were it comes from because it's always people who will be generating the information and spreading it.
Basically harmless. 99% of his advice is literally shit as obvious as "try to get good sleep." The advice that goes beyond that is basically "Gwyneth Paltrow's GOOP but for men" type fluff that won't hurt you but won't help much either. Things like supplementing Tongkat Ali. I've tried it, maybe I felt a tiny test boost but it was probably nothing. I'm not sure why anyone would compare him to any controversial political/social influencer. I'd recommend some of his videos to someone who is on day one of their health/fitness journey so they understand the basics of lifestyle (sleep, diet etc) optimization. Beyond that, his stuff is just popsci bullshit "life hacks". It's MPMD but with a better-credentialed host.
He's not an expert but his experience in neurology is a great foundation. Though like you say, I appreciate his guests. I loved his series with Andy Galpin since he's an actual expert in the field of fitness, and he corrects Huberman on a lot of stuff he's gotten wrong. But credit where credit is due, Huberman--like any decent person--adjusts what he professes based on what he learns from the experts.
More knowledgeable and intelligent than every poster on this board combined. You cope because you don’t have the will power to open your eyes or get fresh air, let alone take a cold shower.
I find what he does (and other pop science people like Rhonda Patrick) to be extremely neurotic at the end of the day. Heath and wellness are not complicated.
>If we look at a 2004 study and compare it to a 2007 study where the respective subjects were exposed to a preliminary test of seeing whether the actions were based in relation to the body's acquisition of nutrients and the absorption in the liver enzymes we can actually ascertain that there is maybe a 1.3% increase in potential efficiency from following these protocols, furthermore another study...
I hate any cunt who says shit that should be basic common sense to 100% of people, yet acts like what they're saying is new and profound information. Even worse when their fanbase treats them like they're some holy prophet of God delivering divine, forbidden knowledge of the gods to us "mere mortals". You see this mostly with Jordan "gay gay" Peterson's gay fanbase. So, yeah, I don't listen to these retards, since they just say shit that I, and everyone else, already knew by the time we were 8 years old.
the jordan peterson of fitness, by that I mean that he is probably very knowledgable in one very specific area and this makes him (and his audience) think he is an expert in everything
he speaks with so much confidence about things he clearly has no clue about
for example I saw him reference that famous chinese nofap study (with the ridiculous t level peak after a week), when any bachelors student who finished statistics 101 should immediately see how sketchy that paper is, and this guy is supposed to be a professor which is quite shocking

>Lack of sleep and sunlight is bad >WHOA THIS IS SO AMAZING, I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE, THANK YOU BASED SCIENCEMAN
you have to take things people say with a grain of salt, but with him it's less so than with other public figures promoting scientific information
he's said plenty of questionable things but since people here are contrarians in nature they tend to throw the baby out with the bathwater and dumb things down, although probably like 2/3 don't care and are just doing it offhand cause this is a mongolian basketweaving board
good actionable advice from him I think is sunlight exposure, I've noticed it be a way to help me time when I wake up because before doing it I would spend 45min in bed with no energy despite avoiding screens before bed and going to sleep at the same time
some shit has been hard to implement so I haven't bothered
things like palm cooling sound really interesting but it seems highly biased and I'm not paying for a 1500€ device to regulate my temperature between sets ever, if it truly has merit one day competition will drive the price down and it will be in every commercial gym and I'll know it's efficacy so until that happens I ain't adopting
he's had some involvement with mpmd, which isn't a good thing cause I consider that guy to be a soft charlatan
This retard was shilling turkesterone and not only claimed it was a performance enhancer but that it had the same effectiveness as Deca. Just watch Derek instead.
>do THIS to become an unstoppable warrior genius gigachad
He's like a step above the weiner enlargement guys. All these internet stepdads and health gurus need to be thrown off a cliff.
hes trying to ensure zero cost to customer education on the matters related to your health and well being, but before we jump right into it, Id like to give a shout out to our sponsor Athletic Green, now called AG1

Stare directly at the sun
He does seem to like doing this. He talks about it in every video
People like you is why Shampoos have to write "do not drink" in the label.

You’re a majorly autistic gay. The “state into the sun” thing is obviously a joke.
Honestly the best advice he has given ever. Maybe the only good one even.
I've been doing this each morning and trying to build how long I can do it for, a few seconds longers each time
Guys like him, Rogan, Jordan Peterson, etc. Are all just softcore Andrew Tates. Listening to them is the equivalent to jacking off to girls in bikinis, sure its nice but why not go all the way and watch her take it up the ass? That's why I prefer Tate over all of them
Joe and Lex are insecure idiots with excellent guests, Tate is a flamboyant moron with associated with no one of any value.
Going all the way is listening to The Golden One you fucking gay, not some subhuman mulatto pimp.
literally who?
Nefag detected. You probably think rimjobs are hot.
I miss edgy Marcus, but I understand why he became more "mainstream".
Queerbait.
No really.
andrew tate is just regurgitated r/TRP text to speech with speech impediment.
>coping by lazy anons who failed at life
Tate is a brown muslim.

Pretty much this. Naturalistic environments are rare in study design, and typically low-value data from surveying
god damn, too much reality.

Andrew isn’t gnomish
Surname? Checked. Troll eyes? Checked. Constantly shilled by youtube? Checked.
Not him, but his neck seems too thick and he has goyish mannerisms. Hard to describe
Trainable traits.
Tell me anon; are the garden gnomes in the room with you right now?
No, just me and my wife
No, they are on power positions forcing tikum olam.

this, andrew provides tons of value for free, unironically staring at the sunset has improved my life
It's half shit you already knew like go outside for walks, half weird shit no one is gonna do like drinking salt water.
drinking salt water isn't too bad once you get the hang of it

Yeah it's MPMD with 15 more IQ points and longer form. He's not an expert in the vast majority of his topics, but his guests are often interesting

did we insult your daddy figure? Im sorry
Spends all his time in the lab, thinks it's magic knowledge to know to spend time outside. I suppose that's helpful for people who live similarly.
I think his lab consists of people reading summaries on pubmed all day
He's based for advocating for semen retention
