The camera is a skewed image of yourself. If anything the camera is worse, the reflection is still a 1:1 ratio just reversed
It will surprise you to know that sometimes things have more than one cause or one answer. Yes, I know this is hard to grasp with an autistic mind.
It is all of the above. You are DYEL, you have body dysmorphia, AND you are too moronic to understand the device you are glued to.
If you want to take better pics of yourself, take pictures further away (with a mirror) and zoom in. It's a quick and dirty way to have your phone use a longer focal length so you look more like the first portrait
here than the last.
I should note this only works if your phone has multiple lenses, as most decent phones do now. You don't need a 200mm telephoto lens or whatever it is on the newest Samsung/Apple/etc phones but you do want to get out of the 24mm lens range which is a really common default lens on smartphones these days.

I notice that in other people too, my friend's physique looks more impressive IRL than in the photos he takes.
I think it has to do with social media. We're so used to seeing insane physiques on screens/phones that an average physique looks really unimpressive on a screen.
But in real life where you're not used to seeing IFBB pro level physiques everyday even a decently good physique will look insane.

Most phonecameras have 24mm as a default lens which is rather wide lens and makes everything smaller the further the phone they are.
Use 35mm/50mm camera lens. Those focals are near human vision
