my golden retriever is 12 and she used to sprint every day, build like an athlete and bulging shoulders, can feel her abs when petting her as well, still runs sometimes but chilling mostly now.
another dog recently passed was a bernese, wouldn't do shit all day and would almost never sprint, but put a cart on her and she would be so fricking happy to just pull around 10x her bw casually, she was also jacked and lived to 15.
also feed them scraps, meat and meaty bones (raw), organs sometimes and eggs every day, don't fall for the kibble israelite.
my dog frickin loves eggs man. I make 6 every day and he gets so excited when he sees me turn on the burner to scramble them. he ends up eating a full egg or so by the time I finish but I still count the calories of all 6 (based puppy helping my cut). I love my dog

Swimming. If your dog is like my brother's labrador, just throw a ball into a body of water repeatedly and he will go out to fetch it every time, despite being exhausted. He's a buff lil guy now. Playing tug of war with your dog also helps.
and sort of water dog will love that but if you have a sheppard or doberman type dog they will look like ducks out of water
Speak for your self, my doberman/ausie shepherd mix fricking loves swimming. She is such a strong swimmer that I can grab her tail and she will pull me along in the water. She will just swims laps on her own for fun whenever she gets the chance.
i had a half doberman half german sheppard that her back legs sunk when she got in water my golden retriever would swim circles around her
