Considering the high amount of processed food containing it (look at how many bagged/boxed foods contain palm, canola, vegetable/soý and corn oil), the fact that restaurants use it all the time due to low cost, and the prevalence of it as a "healthy" fat, it makes sense. The average person also eats way more than they should which is why the majority of the developed world is overweight/obese, so the numbers aren't unbelievable.

I make my stir frys with peanut oil and a little bit of sesame oil. Been thinking abt getting some avocado oil though. Heard it's pretty useful for making aioli and other sauces and shit. Honestly I got too much fricking oils in my kitchen though. I even have like two cans of coconut oil. I used to make homemade chocolates and desserts and shit with them, but now I just use it to make weird thai food. Oil is pretty aight, vegetable oil and canola kinda cringe though. Really don't see the purpose of them unless you're kind of broke since they're cheap. But idunno, a good peanut oil or olive oil is just way nicer as an all purpose cooking oil.
